THE DEEP DIVE
All BeachHauses are engineered for simple, easy living. All BeachHauses feature self check-in and check-out. They're stocked with beach toys, beach towels, bath towels, laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner, olive oil, and cooking-ready kitchens.

Perched atop a quiet bluff overlooking the lagoon and Pacific, you can hike 1 mile to the beach through immaculately maintained trails or 1 mile south to downtown Solana Beach and the Cedros Design District. The original record collection, wood paneling, beaded curtains, and pull-chain toilets keep the original funky-retro spirit alive. The brand new carpets, appliances, mattresses, and furnishings keep everything fresh. (We've added a few lava lamps too, just for fun). Enjoy foosball, ping pong, 2 smart TV's, and ample indoor/outdoor nooks and seating areas.

House Rules:
* Very steep driveway. Maximum of 3 cars in the driveway.
* NO SMOKING and no fire (candles included) anywhere on the premises except in the wood burning stove.
* Voices carry at night from our hilltop so please bring all conversations inside by 10:00PM.
* The yard is not fenced with steep surrounding terrain. Young children and pets should not be left unattended

Great stay!

Stayed here for four nights in September. The house was exactly as pictured. Very cool 70s retro furnishing, large decks with amazing views and sunsets, spacious, clean with everything you need. We loved hiking right down the driveway to the great trails each day, and the short drive into town. It was so quiet and peaceful. We can't wait to return!

Picturesque and serene

This property is absolutely beautiful. The view, the privacy, and space, and location...it has all of it! My family and I enjoyed two memorable nights together here and have vowed to return. Close to the beach. Close to Del Mar Racetrack, the crisp air, the sunset and cant say enough about it. The rental staff is extremely accommodating and responsive and we can’t wait to return.

Great communication. The house is exactly as described. Beautiful views from the deck and living room. Hot tub was an added bonus. Definitely retro, like someone’s well preserved 70’s cabin. Be aware of the very steep driveway and dirt road to get to the house. Otherwise great stay!

One of the best places we’ve ever stayed. The kids loved the game room, the hot tub, the attic hideaway. And we loved the retro touches like the record player, the chill vibes and the ocean view. It was so easy to relax there and get into vacation mode which is just what we needed.

What a wonderful home and property

I can’t recommend the retro retreat highly enough! We absolutely loved our time there. The ocean views from several rooms of the house, and even more so from the big deck, and side yards with comfy Adirondack chairs, were amazing. We spent time out there morning, noon and night. Another highlight was being able to walk to an awesome trail, called Annie’s trail, or slightly longer walks to the beach, or even downtown Solana Beach. Our group's ages ranged from 9-70, and we all loved our time there. We would love to return someday!

Incredible all around!!

Our family of five absolutely loved this house and our four night stay in Solana Beach area. The character, comfort and views from the house were spectacular. It was stocked with absolutely everything we could want or need (kitchen to bedrooms, games room, etc). We can highly recommend this property after a brilliant stay including great communication with the team looking after the house!

Perfect vacation hideaway

The Retro Retreat reminded us of Grandma's house the minute we opened the front door. It has all of the updated features you want for a successful getaway including super cozy beds and linens, but retains a lot of the original charm of a 70's hilltop house. Plus, that view! We enjoyed many nights grilling fresh seafood and eating on the patio - in March! There were a few maintenance issues, but the response was immediate and didn't interrupt us at all. I will say, when they warn about the driveway, it's no joke. I'm pretty sure it's at a 45 degree angle - you'll want an SUV. However, that height affords almost total privacy, which is crazy considering how closely houses are stacked together. We had a wonderful time and would stay here again.

PERFECTION

This place beyond exceeded our expectations. The wood paneling on all the walls, floor to ceiling windows, super crisp design and decor…chef kiss! Kids and aunties loved the game room, the trail at the end of the driveway was fantastic, and the view of the lagoon and beach was magical. To top it all off, everything was scrubbed clean clean! Would LOVE to stay again!

Fantastic stay!

This property has an amazing view and is incredibly clean. The staff is very responsive and was helpful with our every request. We would love to return! Oh, and the hike is awesome. You really can’t beat this location or view. It was a real gift.

Unique and fabulous

We loved our stay at the retro house!!! The house is charming and funky while being completely comfortable and functional. The view is amazing and we loved watching the sunset every night. Could get a little warm during the day (we never used the AC even though the house does have it) but we would open the windows to the ocean breeze and it would cool down plenty for bedtime. We would definitely stay here again!

LOVED this house!

The photos really don't do it justice, we LOVED it here! The sunsets over the ocean and lagoon are unlike anything I've ever seen! The basement was great for our kiddos and the kitchen was well stocked!

Wonderful Getaway

Amazing spot!

We had so much fun at this wonderful house! My husband and our two children, ages 11 and 8 and our 12 year-old Labrador named Dexter enjoyed a long weekend here. It was a great location because we were very close to the dog beach, markets, restaurants. The house was amazing, loved the retro vibe. We also found the location and view so relaxing. We loved the privacy it offered as well as the morning views from the deck while drinking our coffee. I was also really impressed with the level of care and communication. When we checked out, our son accidentally left his iPad behind. We didn’t realize it until we got home and I contacted the property management company. They were so easy to work with. They located the iPad within 20 minutes and shipped it to us for free! We had the iPad back in two days. Overall, it was such a wonderful experience, and we will definitely be back!

Peaceful Retreat

My family and I had a wonderful stay at this peaceful retreat. Nestled on a hill, there were amazing views and quiet sitting areas to enjoy them. The retro decor was fun and we enjoyed playing the records provided. The lower level with the ping pong table and foosball table was great. Both the kids and adults enjoyed them! Since it is nestled on a hill, expect a steep driveway. It was steeper than I was expecting so walking back up after our walk on the trails was a bit of a challenge. We would definitiely stay here again!

Best Stay-cation EVER!

Words can't express how in love I fell with this house!! It has such a magical essence and just felt like "home". Granted I am a retro/hippie gal at heart so everything about it just resonated with my soul. Felt like we were in a mountain cabin, but with an ocean/lagoon view and 6 minutes from civilization & the 5 Freeway! The dirt road and long steep driveway just added to the feeling of being so remote, but yet so close to the beach, stores, restaurants. It felt like an adventure. We were displaced due to a house flood and got to stay here for 2.5 weeks. Helped make the disaster become a blessing. The game room was so fun for the kids and there was plenty of space to spread out. It probably isn't for everyone if modern amenities are your jam... but I loved all of the retro touches with the old school cookware and items from the 60's/70's - felt like we were camping in the woods. Couldn't recommend it enough if this is your style. And the special tree that had a perfect seat to watch sunsets was beyond amazing, and the birds! Oh the birds... the hawks fly at window level and a ton of crows flocked to my favorite tree most every night at sunset. Sometimes there were what felt like 50 of them. It was amazing!! Even had a few nights where the moon set over the ocean, which felt like such a gift (a rare occasion on the west coast).
