Cardiff-by-the-Sea is a destination neighborhood. Sunset House is 3 blocks to beach access and "The Village" shops. The Village has many dining options, ranging from casual beachside taco shops to gourmet fare, plus several breweries and bars. Check out our local guidebook.

Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to surfing spots: Swamis (2 miles), Pipes (1 mile), and Cardiff Reef (0.5 miles). Scenic walking trails (San Elijo Lagoon (dog-friendly and ten-minute walk to trailhead), kid-friendly neighborhood park (Glen Park is a three blocks away) plus a lovely twenty-minute neighborhood walk to world class Encinitas Community Park (sport courts, top-rated skatepark, playgrounds and large off-leash dog park).

For community excursions, we love Torrey Pines trails, San Diego Botanical Gardens (3 miles), Moonlight Beach (3 miles) and Swami's Gardens (2 miles) plus downtown Encinitas and Solana Beach for their unique range of shops and restaurants. Legoland is a short drive (20 mins), and the greater San Diego area (30 miles) offers attractions such as San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, and numerous museums, all within a short drive.

QUIET HOURS
Located in a vibrant but also a residential neighborhood. The City of Encinitas, where Cardiff-by-the-Sea resides, implements quiet hours from 10pm-7am daily (typically it is very quiet by nightfall on weekdays).

Guests have exclusive use and access to the entire single family home and private backyard, including the chef's kitchen, new LG oversized washer and dryer, and high-quality mattresses dressed in Parachute linens. Enjoy organic toiletries and both blackout curtains and shades for restful sleep. The home is equipped with a full chef's kitchen, central air conditioning, and luxurious furnishings throughout.

MAX OCCUPANCY
This home is not set-up for seven adults but we do routinely host parents traveling with younger kids where 7 people may be comfortable; we do offer a Babyletto mini-crib plus a pack-and-play, high-chair, and infant tub. Please request these amenities if needed at least one-week prior to stay.

We also own and operate the neighboring property, Moonrise Cottage - a three bedroom/two bath (King, Queen, Full/Full Bunk) single story home with a private enclosed front yard. Moonrise Cottage was completely renovated into 2025, and launched for booking in April 2025. We look forward to hosting you and your extended family or friends. It features a beautiful electric fireplace in the living room and a stunning private front yard with gas fire pit and exterior dining for six.
