A hidden gem!!!

Definitely a 5-star stay! I just wish we had discovered this place earlier—these past four years while our daughter was at Fordham University, we stayed at some pretty questionable spots. Had we known about this place, this would have been our go-to every single time! Hosts were the best! Nice, beautiful and quiet neighborhood! And plenty of parking on the street! We absolutely loved it!!

Wonderful Retreat

We could not have been more pleased with our stay! The location was quiet and beautiful! Close enough to the City for sightseeing but far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. Our host was so easy to work with and was wonderful about responding to anything we needed.

Check-in was fine. Kitchen was fine. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Bathroom has very hot water when you need it. A light fixture above the mirror and sink in the bathroom would be a welcomed addition. Currently, the ceiling light that also has a bluetooth speaker built-in for connecting your music device causes shadows when you are getting ready. You need to step back a few steps from the sink to avoid shadows.

Great neighborhood outside NYC

We stayed for several days because the price was 1/4 the price of staying in the city. The apartment was clean and private. Parking was free and we ran in the neighborhood each morning. Everyone we met was very nice.

My stay

Considering moving to New York and this was a very nice place to stay and get a feel for New York living. Close enough to public transit but far enough from the heart of the city. Short walk from bus stops taking you to the subway and there is a grocery store a block away. Just a great stay overall!

New York trip on the cheaper end!

We actually got to meet chris on the way walking to this place! If you don’t mind walking a little or taking the bus this is a 5/5 spot! Close to everything you need! Every morning we went to the bus and we’re able to go to Times Square pretty easy! As well as getting back it was great to be in a quiet get away! The ac felt amazing after walking around New York all day! Everything about the place was good for our short stay!

Perfectly equipped and close proximity to transit

The host was great to communicate with. This place has everything that you might need on your stay, including an ice cream scoop. Subway/train terminals are a 20 min walk or $11 Uber ride. There are buses that run closer but are still on the cash system. We throughly enjoyed all elements of this property.

Delightful stay

This was my first stay outside of a hotel. My stay was over two weeks, and it was a very good experience. I was feeling right at home. I have no complaints, and hope to have another lengthy stay in the near future. The host just about thought of everything for their guest to have a five star experience. I would give a five, but since it’s my first VRBO I have no reference point. Ideal location … stores are conveniently nearby.

Get option just outside the city

We had a great stay. Host was super friendly. Room was just as pictured and advertised. Quick Metro train available to get into the city in 30 minutes. Apartment was clean and there were all the things needed to cook if needed. Lovely home beautiful kept yard. Nice quiet neighborhood. 5 minute car or taxi ride to train station with ample parking available. We would recommended it! Thanks to the host for all the information provided. Lucio and Pilar

Quiet Get-away 1-2 adults only

Haven’t been to NY for 50+years so we didn’t know what to expect. This is a clean neat one bedroom rear basement apartment in a residential area. Everything you need is there. Only thing to consider is, if you’re over 6’4” the bathroom may be a little tight, it’s two steps up. This it’s not an ADA lodging. However, for us it was perfect. If you’re looking to blend in and enjoy solitude this would be the place. Next NY trip will be here

Parking on Monday and Tuesday in the neighborhood is not good. On these days it’s very inconvenient.

Due to trash pick-up and street cleaning on Monday and Tuesday parking is very inconvenient, we had to get up at 8 am to move our vehicle off the st to another side each day the neighbors took up all spaces the manager told us to just get up and move our car because it was a huge inconvenience to his wife to let us park in the driveway. The only way to park was down the street carrying bags and dark was not good for me. Other than that my stay was great. Nice location oh noisy over head the apartment is located in the basement and children are up above. So if you are looking to sleep in late I would suggest letting the manager know before hand. I stayed 7 days so clean towels would have been great after 3 or 4 days but the price was good so I didn’t complain. Overall I would recommend this place based on price location and cleanliness.

It was okay but advertising was deceptive

This is not an entire house. It is an apartment. In the picture it showed Champaign and there wasn't any there. For what it's worth it wasn't as bad as I thought. Keep in mind an entire family lives upstairs, but you'll have enough privacy to the point you won't notice much. The place is a little smaller than expected but it got the job done. Pros: -close to NYC but far away enough to get away from the loudness -Small apartment but it's a cute little apartment so I don't mind much -since it's located in the back of the house I felt I had a bit more safety Cons: -Deceptive advertising. This is not a house. I repeat this is not a house but a small apartment located in a basement area of a house. You can get in at the backyard entrance -Since this is an apartment and not a house but a basement apartment in a housing complex you may have a bit of a lack of privacy -Mount Vernon is about an hour away from New York City so it may eat up some gas Overall rating: It was okay I wasn't disappointed but wasn't impressed much either. Still had a good time though.

We had no issues with our stay. Christopher was very responsive to any questions we had. Overall worked out great. Great proximity to the events we had going on. Lacks great lighting in the bathroom and maybe a comfy sitting area inside. It was a great stay for the money.

Easy access. Clean space. only challenge was there is a dog in the house above that barks when you come in but that was mostly a non issue for us.l because we love dogs. We would definitely stay here again!
