Cottage at Weller Island

This is a quiet lake front property on Lamoka Lake with a gradual slope to the water. We purchased this property and did a total remodel which included moving rooms, removing some walls, and raising ceilings all while maintaining the footprint on the property turning this into a very enjoyable place to stay. There is many places to enjoy in the surrounding Finger Lakes area with Watkins Glen NY 15 min to the east, Hammondsport NY 15 min to the west, Corning NY 30 min to the south, and Penn Yan NY 25 min to the North or just enjoy a quiet stay by the lake.

Wonderful getaway!

What a lovely home we got to stay in this past weekend! Had everything we need and more. Very clean, direct waterfront, gorgeous sunsets! I would definitely rent again.

Awesome vacation spot!

Awesome spot on the water, just can’t beat the views and the comfort of the home! We caught lots of fish, had great sunsets, and our 9 month old loved crawling around the open floor plan of the house. Matthew provided firewood and we used the kayaks everyday. I would definitely go back!

Relaxation overload!!

We had a terrific week of relaxing. Everything was provided.....basically just have to bring your groceries and toothbrush!! Will definitely recommend to friends and family for future vacations. Property was level (no stairs down to lake) and that was a big plus for us since my husband is disabled. Thanks for an enjoyable stay.

Quick Lake Trip

We had a great time and were surprised with how much was included with this listing. The washer and dryer were very convenient and we were thankful to have them for our use. We also enjoyed the kayaks and took them out every day we were there. My nephew had so much fun he did not want to leave at the end of our trip! We would definitely come back again!

Mini Honeymoon

Me and my new husband stayed here for a mini honeymoon following our wedding. This place was perfect to rest and unplug after the chaos of wedding planning. The location was great because we could chose to stay in on the quite lake, or easily drive to Watkins Glen or wineries when wanted. Matthew was informative and helpful! We would happily come back!

Perfect place for a relaxing getaway

Perfect place for a relaxing getaway. Small, quiet lake community. The view of the lake was amazing! Couldn't ask for anything more. The kayaks were great to go on the lake to explore. The fire pit was also really nice to enjoy at night. Everything described on the listing is exactly what it is. Matthew was a great host & made everything easy. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

First visit to finger lakes

Matthew was a wonderful host. The cottage was adorable. The kitchen a had everything you needed. The beds were very comfortable! The view from the cottage was beautiful. There were canoes and kayaks to use on the lake. Everyone had an awesome time! Thanks so much Matthew

Wonderful Location For Family Vacation!

Amazing cottage—gave us all the HGTV lake house vibes with decor and amenities! Our girls loved paddle boarding, swimming, and fishing in the lake. Perfect spot to read a book and enjoy a glass of wine as the sun sets too! Blown away by the fireworks display too—a wonderful memory for us all of the 4th! We had everything we needed for a great week at the lake (that went by far too quickly:)! Cottage is close to Watkins Glen, Hammondsport and so many of the amazing brewery and wineries that the Finger Lakes has to offer! Highly recommend!!!

Great lakefront property

This is a well maintained property with lovely views of the lake from the house. The Adirondack chairs around the fire pit are a great place to sit and watch the boats go by, read a book, or visit. The picnic table nearby was perfect for meals and games. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own meals. The beds were great and AC was appreciated on a hot weekend. Communication from the owner was prompt and helpful. Very quiet neighborhood.

Bachelorette weekend

I am kinda skeptical about booking online, but the experience was great. Matthew answered all my questions. The pictures are spot on. We loved it. In fact we will be returning again. Only regret, we wish we had more time. Thank you for opening your home away from home.

Lamoka Lake Cottage

We used this cottage as a base to relax and explore the Finger Lakes during a family road trip. The cottage was welcoming and quite spacious. Cozy beds, well supplied kitchen, fantastic washer & dryer, and gorgeous lake views. The canoe and kayaks were great as the lake was calm and quiet. We didn’t find the area in front of the cottage to be swimming friendly though, as there were lots of plants just below the water’s surface. We headed to Watkins Glen (15-20 minutes away) to hike to the waterfalls and swim in the large pool. We also explored a couple wineries, Shtayburne Farm for cheese and ice cream tasting, along with the town of Corning and the Corning Museum of Glass (highly recommended, 30-35 minutes away). The cottage was always appreciated upon our return!

Glad you all enjoyed it, sorry about the lake, mid summer the plants take off growing. It's nice for kayaking to see all the blooms and wildlife but makes fishing tough and not the greatest for swimming. Thanks again for all you did and leaving the place so clean. We were able to clean it as a family in good time and leave from their to go on a trip.

Perfect family lake weekend

If you are thinking about it- just book it. We had an amazing weekend at Matthew’s place. You cannot beat the location just steps from the lake. We really enjoyed using the canoe in the morning. We also loved making a fire at night and looking at all the stars. The kitchen is fully stocked if you plan on cooking your meals. The beds were very comfortable and we appreciated the washer and dryer to clean our clothes after a hike at Watkins Glen State Park. We suggest going to Corning for dinner. There are plenty of restaurants and a little village to walk around. You are very close to surrounding attractions but it’s nice to be secluded at this home. It’s a very unique place and we will be back. Matthew was very quick to respond and had great communication.

“I wish I could just live here, seriously mom!”

We loved it!!!! Anniversary overnight turned family getaway. Thanks so much!! The kids loved the kids room with window to us. We love the layout. The house had so many things in it including teas and coffee! Everything you could need in the kitchen. The linens were all so nice. We loved all the little fireplaces and the view! You guys! We just sat all night in the front room with the fireplace looking at the moon sparkle on the lake! We didn’t get to have a fire or kayak this trip due to the wind but will definitely be back! My daughter loved that she could scooter around on the road and my son loved the toys in the house! We did Watkins Glenn and Taughannock Falls Gorge Trail. We tried to fish on the dock after seeing the boaters catch so many! Matthew always responded so fast and offered so much! He worked with us when our plans changed and helped us create a beautiful family trip with so many special memories!!! We can’t wait to get back in the summer time! Thanks a million gazzillion

Cozy Cottage with Beautiful Lake Views

This cottage is a warm, cozy get away even in the off season. My family and I enjoyed relaxing in the sun room each morning and evening. Our favorite part was the absence of a TV blaring through the house. Of course, the lake views were amazing as well.

First Wedding Anniversary

My husband and I had a wonderful stay here. Matt was very communicative and the property was just perfect! It is secluded enough to feel like you are disconnected, but close enough to attractions to have things to do! Will definitely stay again! Perfect vacation space

Matthew provided us with a beautiful, specious cottage for our week-long stay. Our family of four took full advantage of what the lake had to offer. We kayaked, swam, and fished each day. The kids loved fishing and swimming off the platform he added at the end of his dock. The cottage amenities had everything we needed to cook meals and relax together. It was a perfect week.

Perfect Finger Lakes Get Away Lake House

Amazing place to stay! This lake house was perfect for our family of five. Beautiful both inside and out! Very well stocked and the location can’t be beat for exploring the Finger Lakes region. This property provided fishing from both the dock and canoe.

I am native to upstate NY and my wife Jennifer is from southern Missouri. We have 4 kids (plus one on the way👍) and have always loved going to the water whether it was a local lake or to the ocean.

We are in construction by trade and have remodeled different properties over the years to use as rental houses and even for ourself. We had interest in owning a cottage on a local lake so when we came upon this property needing a lot of work (more than imagined😣) we decide to go for it and fix it up as a retreat. It came together better than we could have expected, considering the shape it was in, and we have made many memories down at "The Lake Cottage". We hope your visit is filled with great memories you can reflect back on when you think of your time at "The Lake Cottage"
