Colorado Traction Law: From September through May 31, the Colorado Traction Law is in effect for all drivers traveling on I-70 between Morrison and Dotsero as well as US-285 to Breckenridge . This law mandates that vehicles must be equipped with either four-wheel or all-wheel drive and snow-rated or mud + snow tires. Alternatively, vehicles with two-wheel drive must have winter tires, chains, or other traction devices. Ensuring your vehicle is properly equipped is essential for safe winter driving in Colorado. If you’re renting a car, be sure to confirm with your rental company that your vehicle meets these requirements.
Important Winter Advisory: Please be aware that during the winter months, roads and driveways are likely to be snow-covered or icy, making four-wheel drive (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) essential for safe travel. Enjoyable weekend
House was perfect for our family of five for a summer trip.to Breck. Very private and amenities were nice. We were blessed to see four moose in the backyard for 30 minutes. 15 minute drive into Breck. We will be back.

Moose Trail lives up to its name
The property was nice and clean, and well furnished. Quiet, peaceful setting and easily accessed in the summer. There was plenty of room to spread out. It was well supplied with towels and blankets, which made for a comfy home away from home.

Very nice place
It was everything we needed. Would stay again. Only small issues were 1. Bbq grill on its last leg(literally)2. A few windows and doors don't have blinds. Its a secluded property so not a deal breaker by any means.

Cozy getaway
Moose Trail Retreat is a cozy, well- appointed getaway home. It's about a 15 minute drive to Breck Main Street. If weather/snow/cold sets in, you definitely need an AWD vehicle as directed in the VRBO writeup. Weather was quite cold and a decent amount of snow. Despite that, I had no problems getting around with my Ford Edge AWD. The home is awesome - very quiet and serene. Plenty of space and all of the cooking utensils that you need. I may come back in the summer and will definitely look to rent this home again if it's available. Thank you for a very memorable stay!

Scary
We arrived at night and was snowy and road was not plowed properly or sanded/ salt and was very icey. We had an all wheel drive car and was difficult to get to this location. Was dark, no lights no numbers on house and street signs hard to see. There is also no cell service in this area we found out quickly as we slid into a snow bank one day due to road not plowed and couldn’t reach out for help only intermittent signal and had to call 911 and barely got help from them due to the area location. There was also no land line in the house for energencies and no supplies to help with the road situation or wood for the fireplace. For all that money you’d think wood and salt would be there . Disappointed with this stay and would not recommend.

It’s unfortunate that this experience outside of our control came at the cost of a poor review. The listing does state in multiple areas -the Colorado Traction Law, 4WD AWD- winter tires required and shows pictures of the road leading up to the house. The town DOES maintain this road but this issue occurred following a storm and the city plows had not made it to this area yet. Many times when renting a 4x4 vehicle it is crucial to make sure the rental company is also providing you with suitable tires for Colorado winter driving conditions as a quality snow tire makes all the difference in the world. Per our terms and conditions snow and ice will exist on all surfaces during most of the year. It is impossible in the high alpine environment to provide a snow and ice free environment. Snow and ice will exist on roads, driveways, sidewalks, entrances, stairs, decks, etc. The owner maintains the driveway and the town maintains the main road but it does take time during a snow storm for them to make their rounds. As for the street signs and it being dark, Breckenridge does have strict rules on light pollution, the main roads and side county roads are not lit up here like in the city. GPS will direct you the property address. We’re sorry that your trip to our remote mountain home was less than enjoyable, we’d love to help you find a more fitting property to fit your needs the next time you’re in Breck.
