Acerca de su propietario/a

Propietario/a: Brenda & Eric Schmidt

Imagen de perfil del propietario o de la propietaria
Laurel Springs Farm is located just three miles from Laurelville in the scenic Hocking Hills. Owned and operated by Eric and Brenda Schmidt, it has represented both a sanctuary and a fresh start for us.

Our path into agriculture began after a fraudulent business merger left us with nothing but this land in the countryside. In the face of adversity, we chose to turn that chapter into a new way of life through farming. While the transition brought many challenges, the work has proven deeply rewarding.

Over the years, the farm has offered new experiences and countless opportunities to learn. Life has changed, and we no longer have all the animals we raised in the past, but those years were filled with meaningful moments we were truly fortunate to share. We feel especially blessed to have this beautiful land to shape and call our own. As our lives continue to unfold—and now as we enter retirement—it has remained a peaceful refuge for us.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Hocking Hills, our property offers guests a one-of-a-kind, memorable retreat. At the heart of it all is a cozy cabin, designed and built with care and attention to every detail.

Eric and Brenda personally created many of the cabin’s distinctive features. That hands-on approach helped us shape the space with warmth, character, and a welcoming feel—making it truly special.

For the cabin’s frame and overall durability, we partnered with a skilled Amish community. Some of the furniture was also crafted by Amish makers, bringing an authentic charm and lasting beauty to the space.

This place is deeply personal to us, and we’re happy to share it with our guests. We hope everyone who stays here feels the same sense of comfort and connection we do—enjoying the cabin and making treasured memories in a home that’s close to our hearts.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

The master bedroom features a suspended, one-of-a-kind porch-swing style log queen bed, creating a truly distinctive sleeping experience. Upstairs in the loft, you’ll find another custom log bed—this one not suspended—while still continuing the home’s overall theme of handcrafted woodwork.

Stained concrete floors flow throughout the cabin, offering both durability and a rustic warmth. The live-edge vanity and dining table highlight natural wood finishes, and the dining table conveniently drops down to maximize space when needed.

The front wall is crafted from wood slices harvested by the Amish from trees that were brought down during the tornado that struck the area a few years ago. This meaningful detail serves as a beautiful tribute to local history.

For everyday convenience, a rolling bookcase door opens to the laundry and utility area, blending function with style. A large red slipper tub invites you to relax and unwind—an ideal spot to slow down and recharge.

Most of the cabin’s features are fully handmade, including drop cloth curtains decorated with oversized safety pins, fringe, and other personal touches. Outside, a custom front bench offers a wonderful view of the firepit and the night sky. A custom inset charcoal grill is also available for outdoor cooking.

Just beyond the cabin, Mom’s flower garden showcases many of Brenda’s mother’s favorite plants, adding a personal, welcoming atmosphere to the property.

Set near Hocking Hills parks and local attractions, the cabin offers privacy while still being close to everything you’d want to explore. Guests are welcome to enjoy several acres of the farm, visit Lance’s Pond and the fishing shack (with provided fishing gear), and ask about seasonal fruit. It’s a perfect setting for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and other special occasions.
