Real stone cabin, wake to million dollar views, abundant wildlife...

Mr. Cadwallader, I am very surprised. and disappointed, you did not enjoy our special cabin. There are 4 "zebra" blinds on the 2 sets of sliding glass doors facing the western view to limit the sun, heat, during the summer. The photos clearly show NO blinds/curtains throughout the rest of the cabin. We feel it interferes with the nature immersion (seeing wildlife) and when the closest neighbor is over 800 yards, through the trees, privacy is not a concern. In 26 years, I have never seen multiple rainy days in August and most of the time rain never makes it below 6000' before it evaporites while falling. It is this low rainfall/low humidity that enflames the wildfires in Montana and other western states. It is difficult to have rainy days and deck you can not use because of sun. If the clothes would not dry on the line, you could use the rack in the cabin and the evaporation would provide additional cooling capacity, principal behind a "swamp cooler". Wildlife. There are two herds of deer (4 -) that leave and return to the property 2/day. There is a red fox that passes EVERY morning about 0630. The guest before you arrived sent me pictures of a bear destroying the rock wall, south of the lower deck, looking for ???? They watched while having coffee one morning. The day before you arrived the neighbor in the log cabin, called to inform me of a sow (female bear) and cub hanging around the cabin most of the day and was concerned about our "guest". The day you arrived, the cleaning person told me the cub destroyed the container used to refill the humming bird feeder on the deck. There have been mountain lions pass between the cabin and (closest) wood pile, and a guest earlier this summer was startled by a pale green prairie rattlesnake while getting out of the hot tub. As these are all WILD animals, we have no control over when or where they show up (but open windows allow you to catch a glimpse while doing routine task). There is a hot tub on the lower deck, for soaking and watching the sunset/shooting stars. I will check and make sure there are not tree roots entering the waterlines and blocking the water flow to the cabin, thank you. I am sorry the boiler went out while you were there but as soon as I heard I had people there to replace it. There was already one on premises, (spare for redundancy) I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Kirk

Craig, I am glad you and your wife enjoyed relaxing at the cabin. I am happy you liked the outdoor hot tub and the peaceful environment. I look forward to your next stay here. April/May is a wonderful time, most of the snow is gone, everything is green, and the wildflowers are starting to bloom. (There were two deer under the ramp the afternoon you left and a red fox chasing a chipmunk around the rock wall that evening.) Kirk

Craig, Very glad you enjoyed our wonderful cabin. Happy you were able to use the wood stove and wake up to the snow-covered peaks. I hope the hot tub soothed the sore muscles after the hikes picking huckleberries. Please keep us in mind your next visit to western Montana. Kirk

JD, I am very glad you liked your stay at the cabin and the beautiful views. I hope you enjoyed the sunsets from the hot tub with your favorite beverages. The mountain goats were an amazing stroke of luck, you missed them at Glacier so they came down to see you. Please keep us in mind your next trip to beautiful SW Montana and Bitterroot valley. Kirk

Nick, Thank you. I am very glad you enjoyed your stay at our special cabin. I look forward to your next trip to this wonderful part of the world. Kirk

Shawn, Glad you enjoyed your quiet stay. I am sorry your wife did not like the ride on the rural mountain road to cabin on the top. I thought she would feel more comfortable after her first trip. I will continue working with the HOA to improve the road for your next visit our beautiful, quiet, mountain top cabin.

Matt, glad you enjoyed our special cabin. Sorry the animals did not cooperate fully but being hunting season they were a little skittish. Will anticipate you visit next year. Kirk

Glenn, I am very glad you enjoyed your stay at our wonderful property. The day after you left, the passes got 6+" of new snow and have a "small" 2" at the cabin. The snow capped mountain peaks have a beautiful glow at sunrise, and against a bright blue sky is a wonderful view to enjoy your morning coffee. The trout (browns/rainbows) fishing is very good in October for your trip next year. Kirk

Mr. Baker, I am very glad you enjoyed your stay in our special cabin. Thank you for the opportunity to add to your enjoyment be providing "needed" items and information. i look forward to your next stay. Kirk

Patrick, I am glad you enjoyed your stay and the natural beauty of the area. The sunrise glow on the Bitteroot range is a wonderful way to start the day enjoying your morning coffee. Watching the sunset from the deck, or hot tub, with your favorite beverage is the perfect close after a day hiking, fishing, rafting, or skiing. Thank you again for choosing Arcadia and please consider us your next visit to this wonderful part of the world. Kirk

Bruce, glad you appreciated the natural beauty of this very special place. The hot tub in the morning is a nice treat or the all time favorite, watching the sunset with your favorite beverage. Spring, Apr/May is my favorite time for your return visit. Everything is green, snow on the mountain tops, enjoyable during the day and fire in the wood stove at night. I look forward to your next visit. Kirk

Thank you Christine. I am glad you enjoyed your serene stay in the cabin. Yes, not convenient for frequent trips to the grocery store or local watering holes; but ideal to unplug, relax, and recharge. SUV, :D :D , yes required in January, or after a heavy snow in December, spring through early winter any rental car is fine. I look forward to your next relaxing stay; maybe ski season in the best powder, with the shortest lift lines in the rockies. Kirk

(Sandra), Thank you for your comments. I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Very happy you liked the glass front wood stove in the bedroom, it does make the time that much more special. I look forward to your next visit to this wonderful part of the world, in our magical cabin. Kirk

SaVenna, I am very happy you relaxed, enjoyed, and recharged at our special cabin. I am also torn between the views waking and the hot tub soaking; add a good wine and the hot tub wins. I look forward to your next visit. Kirk

I am very glad you enjoyed your "short" stay. Next year with your longer stay hopefully you will be able to enjoy a rafting trip and perhaps a horseback ride to a beautiful lake for some fly fishing. Kirk

Heather, Very glad you enjoyed your stay in our special cabin. Yes, I need to make access to the hot tub more "user friendly" in the winter. It is very relaxing after a day of hiking, skiing or just because. I appreciate your feedback, understanding, and look forward to your snowshoe trip next winter. Kirk

Carter, Very glad you enjoyed your honeymoon at our special cabin. Yes, the road can be a challenge; especially in the winter, but is responsible for the peaceful serenity and privacy of this beautiful location. Please keep us in mind for your anniversary or a spring visit with the blooming wildflowers. Kirk

Beth, I am very glad you enjoyed the peaceful solitude of our magical cabin. The darkness allows for awesome views of the meteorite showers the time of year you were here, but the lightening is a close second. I am happy you enjoyed the farmers market, I will now add community and cultural activities to the recommended events. I have neglected these in the past in favor of the outdoor/nature items. I hope you enjoyed the deer that passed the cabin every morning, including the 8 point buck still in velvet. We do not keep spices/condiments in the cabin to keep our guest safe from the potential of adulterated products, I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please keep Arcadia in mind your second trip to Montana, I will "try" :) to arrange more sunny, dry days, usually common the first week in August. Kirk

Katherine, I am glad you enjoyed the quirks of the cabin, despite the challenging first attempt. Even after driving the road for twenty years, I still put chains on my locked (all 4 wheels pulling, all the time mode) Jeep during the winter months. Yes, I "highly recommend", "strongly encourage" actions based on my experience but do not "dictate" to adults in a non work environment. I am sorry I was not there to keep the "snow path" to the hot tub shoveled, I will have come up with a solution for that. Yes, the community is made up of good neighbors, most full time year round residents, that understand the challenges of living "on top" of a mountain; so when an expected guest/friend/neighbor is late; misses the sunset from the hot tub with a favorite beverage, the St. Bernards are called. I am glad you got to "interact" with some of the four legged neighbors and witnessed others in their natural environment. Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I look forward to your next visit and will personalize hiking suggestions to my favorites in SW Montana. Kirk

K***, I am very glad you enjoyed your stay with us and the fresh, property raised products. I look forward to your next visit. I am sorry there was not additional "food products" other than salt and pepper in the cabin. To keep our guest safe, all dishes, flatware, utensils are washed and sanitized between visits. We cannot insure the same level hygiene with other items used for food preparation or open/partially used products. (eg: spices, condiments, wraps)
