Cozy cottage on the Chesapeake Bay

Quiet peaceful home by the Chesapeake Bay. Wooded area with Loblolly pines and oak trees. Beautiful walking areas. Bird watchers dream...Bald eagles, Osprey, bluebirds, martins, buntings, woodpeckers, swans, geese, ducks, and migratory birds. Incredible views of the Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Pianktank.

Wake up to the sun rising along the bay and relax watching the sunset on the bay. Can go fishing off the dock. A small grill is available for cooking near the picnic table. The area is full of mariner history back to Captain John Smith visiting Gywn's Island. The charming area still thrives from oysters and crab watermen. Water activities nearby. Be sure not to miss the local markets and seafood festivals

Wonderful trip to the coast

The property was easy to find using the directions provided by the host. The house was very clean and had everything and more that we could need. The view is definitely the star of the show. It was absolutely beautiful. We had a wonderful stay and would love to go back again someday!!

Great place, awesome host!

My family greatly enjoyed our stay here. The house was exactly as described, if not better! Communication was fast and precise. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting the area. The views of the bay are absolutely breathtaking!

My third stay and can't wait to return!

I enjoy this cottage so much that I have booked a month-long visit twice and hope to do it again next year. The cottage is located at the end of the Piankatank River where it empties into the Chesapeake Bay. The views from the cottage, deck, and pier are lovely with incredible sunsets and sunrises. It is well stocked, very clean and comfortable. The hostess is quick to respond if there are any issues that need attention. To sum it all up, the stay there is almost like being at home but much more peaceful!

Great Stay!

Second time we’ve stayed. My niece has stayed here before, too. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here, even though we spent most of it away from the house with family nearby. We did get to see the spectacular sunset one night though. It was amazing!

Love this house

the week was HOT!!! (100 degrees) but the house was cool, clean, comfortable and well stocked. The view of the river/bay was breathtaking. Secluded and quiet which is what we were looking for. My husband wants to come back and he's hard to please. We had good communication with the owner when we had questions. Amazed how well-stocked this property was. We'll be back!!!

Bayside Beauty

Everything we could need was provided, and the views were stunning, especially at sunset. The host was very easy and accommodating,as an unexpected car repair required us to extend our stay.

Glenda and her husband Loren have spent the last 25 years working internationally, with most of their time in East and North Africa, Russia, Romania, and Ecuador. They have four adult daughters who all grew up overseas. Glenda is a Nurse Practitioner and Loren owns a small fair trade vanilla business using vanilla from small-scale farmers in the Amazon. They both love traveling, hiking, and camping. Loren remodeled the bay house and built all the kitchen cabinets and door trim out of cherry wood.

We love this property due to the closeness to the water and the woods behind the house. Provides us with a lovely place to relax after a busy week.

You'll understand why we love it so much when you wake up and see the beautiful views of the water. Or when you are watching a storm cross through the bay ...it is beautiful to see the sky colors change from all shades of blues and greys.
