Family Reunion at Fergus Cottage

Recently had a long weekend at the cottage. It accommodated 16 of us (8 adults and 8 kids). The property is really unique with its little nooks and crannies. The pool and hot tub were perfect for our 8 kids as was the pool table. The upstairs bedroom can get a little warm on hot days but cools down later at night. The cottage has a well-equipped kitchen with most everything that you need to cook for and seat a large group. The host was able to provide a pack-n-play and highchair for us, but make sure to specify whether you need for infant or toddler. This was our second stay at the property and there were a number of improvements since the previous visit that improved our overall experience. It's a great place for a very large group that includes kids.

A Great Spot for Large Groups

We were a group of 10 and had an amazing stay here! We loved that the main living space had such a large table, we ate and did puzzles there while others sat in the attached sitting area - was so nice to be in a beautiful space all together. We really enjoyed the pool and hot tub and the view from the deck was gorgeous. I appreciated that quick responses from the host when I booked. All in all a great spot!

Main features great - overall experience less so

Major features of property - size, pool, hot tub, view, and location - were terrific and made for a enjoyable extended family vacation. The property is two distinct houses joined by the pool and fitness rooms. Plenty of space for the kids and adults to spread out. However, other aspects of the stay were not great. Half way through our week, the main fridge died. Lost a lot of food. Notified owner. Tech came late that day but couldn't repair it. Owner offered no compensation for the monetary loss or even an apology, and never responded to multiple messages I sent after our stay about the issue. We used the other fridge on other side of the property but it was tight for 13 people, not convenient, and not as advertised. - No arrival instructions provided. Had to contact the owner to get them. - House has a lot of wear and tear: Instructed to stay off one deck. Other had rotten boards. Numerous plumbing issues - handles broken on two bathroom sinks, rain shower head rusted out & sprayed out top, outdoor shower and sink didn't work. Pocket door in the master bath was off the tracks and couldn't be closed. - Every pot/pan was filthy and required cleaning before use. - No house manual. Asked for it multiple times. For a house with a pool, hot tub, etc. a manual is key. Did get answers to questions via text but could have been more convenient.

Family Reunion

The house was "divided" into three family areas and one large master suite. Having 6 bedrooms and family areas with pull out sofas really gave everyone of the 11 of us a place to be comfortable. The large kitchen, family area, and covered porch were perfect for gathering together. Having an indoor/outdoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and work out room with equipment were bonus features and used by many of the 11 of us. The location on a small river gave us a nice view and a feeling of privacy as we watched the many birds flying overhead during feeding time. Places to hike, fishing, and do other activities as well as restaurants hit the spot. We took a day trip to see Niagara Falls which was about 1 3/4 hours away. The Toronto Pearson International Airport is just 1 1/2 hours away. Great family location!

Peaceful retreat

Perfect spot for a family reunion! Space for everyone to gather as well as lots to do close by. Very unique home with lots to offer for a large family with different areas to meet and enjoy.

The perfect spot for our group

Ali was a wonderful host. Our group of 16 was very happy to find this gem of a house. We had ample room to park our vehicles, privacy from neighbours, a lovely view of the river, and great amenities to enjoy. The hot tub was a hit with our group, as was the indoor pool and even the one-man sauna. Having access to two kitchens was helpful for our group as well. The many bedrooms and washrooms were in good shape. Highly recommend this great place for your group.

Our Sauna and gym by the pool is an added feature which you will not find in any cottage. We are expecting our Suana, 4th family room furniture and bunk beds delivery in April (can't guarantee the timing with current supply chain issues, order of the above have already been placed)
Huge water front and an outdoor kitchen makes it unique from any other cottage.

Perfect for large families. Relax with the entire family in our large family room or if you want to sit in smaller groups you have 4 options to relax.
