Enjoy the nice yard for kids or dog to play and hot outdoor shower for after beach. The property is surrounded by trees that give great privacy and a long driveway offers plenty of parking. Short walking or biking distance to: village, beach, bay, pier, shops, restaurants and beautiful sunsets while walking your dog on Shore Road. Explore all the natural beauty and history of Cape Ann: Gloucester, Rockport, Essex and Manchester within a short drive and without the traffic of Cape Cod!!.Take a rainy day train ride, along the picturesque North Shore, to experience the amazing old history of Salem & Boston. A real New England Classic Summah beach cottage for your summer family vacation!! Grey Beach (a.k.a. Magnolia Beach is a mixed availability beach w/the East end public for your use to sit, swim, kayak, etc.)

Open, bright and clean house with a great location a 5 min walk from the beach. The wrap-around porch was lovely for to sitting out. John was very responsive and checked in during my stay to see how everything was. Would definitely stay again!

This is the best property owner I’ve ever encountered. He was totally responsive to us before we arrived based on numerous travel difficulties that had nothing to do with him. He’s a tremendous human being. The house looks amazing and the location is awesome, whether you want to in the city or away from it for a while. We are going to rent again from John in 2026, so stay away from the week we book! ;)

We enjoyed our stay at this cute little house. The layout is a little different with the only bathroom downstairs. For those of us on the older side it made navigating the stairs in the middle of the night a tad intimidating. The kitchen had everything we needed for a simple breakfast or lunch. The house is located in a beautiful area just minutes from the beach & downtown Manchester. The house only has AC in the master bedroom which was appreciated on a couple of hot nights. John was very easy to communicate with.

Magnolia Vacation

We had a wonderful week at John’s place in Magnolia. The location was just as described. Easy walk to the private town beach and convenience store for necessities. The home was open and airy, dog friendly with all we needed and we couldn’t have asked for a quieter, friendlier neighborhood with lots of privacy. The outdoor shower was the best! Thank you to John! We would consider coming again next year for sure!

The beach house in Manchester (Magnolia) was absolutely perfect for our family. We had such a great time. John was very thoughtful to make sure we all had enough beach chairs. It was a short walk to the beach. Looking forward to returning.

A MUST stay

Thank you for opening your house John to VRBO. Spent week summer vacation. John’s house was perfect in amenities and space for gathering, relaxing and enjoying company. Bedrooms comfortable, beach chairs provided which was awesome along with plenty of towels. The washer and dryer are a practical luxury at the beach and used the outside shower daily. Wrap porch was ideal for dinner and card games. Foliage yard border provides privacy. We also used grill one night without difficulty. John is a great host and 100% accessible by ph/text. Perfect location as close to Salem, Glouster and Newberryport. Enjoyed several walks from the house in quiet beautiful coastal community. Love it and miss it already! Thank you John

Great Spot

Really enjoyable property – John’s home was wonderful; we appreciated the cleanliness and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was a great homebase to access area beaches, restaurants, etc. We were comfortable immediately, as it had everything one needs to enjoy time away from home. Kitchen is well appointed, there were plenty of towels and even beach towels. I wouldn’t describe it as a 3 bedroom, technically, but the space still worked for our group. The porch was our favorite place for playing cards/games, reading, coffee, relaxation!

Beautiful, relaxing, beach house

The dog friendly, beach house in Magnolia was lovely. It was quiet, clean and comfortable. We could hear the waves from the porch and upstairs bedrooms and it was amazing to be so close to the Magnolia beach and village. It was a unique property because it was surrounded by tree’s, with birds and bunnies in the yard. The outdoor shower was ideal. Magnolia is a perfect beach location, a store, restaurants and spa just a short walk from the house and close to Manchester by the Sea for groceries, restaurants and Singing Beach, but also just as close to the busier, more exciting town of Gloucester. We rode our bikes to Coolidge Reservation - home of the Ocean Lawn. Gorgeous walk with breathtaking views. John was helpful and friendly. The home itself had everything we needed: comfortable bed, ceiling fan, modern kitchen, grill, outdoor couch and tables. We loved the wrap around porch that was perfect for reading/dining in the afternoon/evening. We also loved sitting under the covered porch during the rain showers. Great beach home. 5 out of 5 stars - highly recommend.

Adorable cottage

John was a great host! Great communication and he was willing to take time out of his day to stop by and tell us the “must sees” in the area. House was adorable and perfect for our needs. Beach chairs, beach towels, bikes and corn hole game…all available for our use.

Great location. Hidden gem

Lovely private Magnolia beach and easy access to nearby Singing Beach. Quiet and peaceful with lovely farmers porch. Great place to read and enjoy ocean breeze and rhythms. Short walk to beach and quaint downtown shops and restaurant. Easy drive to Gloucester Rockport and Beverly. Sweet gem of a property with lovely appointments and attention to detail. Such a restful vacation.

I have been a VRBO host 25 years, with two beach properties in Gloucester. I grew up on Cape Ann and have traveled the world extensively only to have realized how special this part of the world is. Most amazingly, it has not changed and remains the same quaint New England coastal village of the past...and undiscovered by most.

I built this house in 2001 taking the design concepts off of old New England coastal homes and cottages. I incorporated modern open concept, minimal furniture and high ceilings with transom windows to capture the South facing natural light. In addition, i used plenty of white bead board, driftwood stained wooden walls and Fir flooring/doors to give this house an open bright and beachy comfortable feel. Step out thru the French sliding doors to the very large wrap around porch outside w/Adirondack chairs and teak patio set which is perfect for morning coffee, lunch or use the gas grill for a family BBQ at night as the kids play in the yard!

Walk to private beach, corner store, restaurants and shops or hike to the Trustees of the Reservation trails at end of beach to Bungalow Hill or the Great Lawn to see Boston Skyline sunsets. Watch the magnificent nightly sunsets with the locals walking your dog on Shore Rd and dine at breakfast, lunch cafe and evening restaurants.
