This cozy lake house sits right on the shore of Lake Alpine, a quiet, 50-acre no-wake lake just outside Wautoma. In fall, the trees around the water turn gold and red, and mornings start slow: coffee from the coffee bar, the rattan chair by the window, and birds at the feeder. Afternoons are for casting for bass and bluegill off the pier or swaying in one of the backyard hammocks. When the air turns crisp, warm up in the outdoor barrel sauna, then sink into the hot tub with the lake right in front of you. Evenings end on the fire pit swings, with firewood included and the stars coming out over the water.



Inside, the gas fireplace, the indoor hanging swing and big lake-view windows make it easy to stay in. Just a few steps lead from the door to the water, so it's an easy stay for grandparents and little ones alike. Bring your dog, too. We'll have a bed, toys and treats waiting.



In summer, the pontoon boat, kayaks, paddleboards and rowboat come out, and the whole lake becomes your playground.



We're Becky and Eric, longtime Wautoma locals, and we stocked this home the way we'd want it for our own family. All you have to do is show up and slow down.
