Great Getaway

Staying here was amazing! All the appliances worked, the hot tubs were great, and the cabin has such a great "open" feel with windows facing Wisp Mountain. There's a Liquor/Beer/Wine store nearby, as well as a grocery store stocked with everything you may need.

Heart's Desire

House is in need of updating. Lack of adequate heat in lower level made for uncomfortable nights for guest in lower level. Lower level gas fire place needs attention for easier lighting. Pool table had a tear in the felt and no tips on clue sticks.

Heart’s Desire was an amazing location. So close to Wisp, local stores, restaurants, etc. the view of fantastic. We loved that the house was equipped with two of every appliance- so helpful for a house full of people! The kitchen had good quality pots and pans and plenty of silverware, dishes, etc. We were hesitant about booking due to less than stellar reviews about temperature in the home- and I would say that was a bit of an issue for us. The first floor (which had 4 bedrooms) was freezing. There were space heaters in each room and they helped a bit. The house in general was super drafty, it “leaked like a sieve” as my husband said. On the other hand, the upper bedrooms were super hot. We were either hot or cold- had a hard time moderating the temp! The bathrooms were clean but definitely older. Couches and rugs were old and worn but good enough. All in all I’d say the home was “good enough.” The scenery, size, kitchen and general amenities and the location were perfect. If it were my home to rent out, I’d get new rugs and couches asap and try to do something about the thermostat. Maybe it needs two zones. I don’t know. That first level was icy cold!

Lakeside was great....house problems made living there difficult!

Heart's Desire is a large home and could be wonderful. We had several problems from day 1 with toilets (3 of the toilets). The house is not maintained well. Doorhandles fell off. The wax ring around the one toilet needed replaced after the initial fix did not work....and then the toilet still leaked with the new wax ring! The "well equipped kitchen" had many of the dishes we needed but did not have enough silverware for the 15 of us. Little things like pot holders and towels were not provided. Our family adjusted and had a fun week with each other on the lake and doing things in the area. It could have been better if the above mentioned problems had not plagued us. We had repairmen at the house 4 times. We will not rent this house again unless we are assured that there are many improvements made. We expected more for the price.
