Tidy, updated 1905 home in the heart of the Village of Ontonagon. At just two blocks from the beach you can hear the waves and see the lake from your front yard. Located steps from local restaurants and quaint shopping, this updated village home has it all. It’s a perfect place to explore the great outdoors without giving up any of the comfy amenities you expect. Lightning fast internet, central air, quality linens, and updated decor make this home the perfect spot to cozy up with the family and make your UP memories. Whether you are rock hunting, driftwood gathering, hiking, on a waterfall tour, boating, or skiing or snowmobiling , this is an awesome, centrally located base. You are 20 minutes from the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness Park and Ski Area, within a half hour of several waterfalls, and less than an hour from two other ski resorts. Sleeps 10 and a couple of pets very comfortably.

The home was Perfect! We enjoyed the beautifully decorated inside and comfortable furniture and beds. The location was Supreme!!!!! So close to Lake Superior and walking distance to everything in town. The hosts are very attentive and responded immediately when needed. We will definitely stay again....in any season!

My family of five spent 5 nights in this home mid-August. There was plenty of seating in the dining and living rooms. All of the beds that we used were very comfortable. The house was very clean, and it was helpful to have access to a broom and vacuum so that we could get rid of the sand that we brought in. We didn't do any indoor cooking, but there are plenty of pots and pans, plates and glasses, etc. We did use the charcoal grill and picnic table a couple of times. Location was great for walking to the beach and checking out local eateries. Good central location to the Porkies and Adventure Mine. We didn't need to speak to the owners at all, but check-in instructions were very simple.

Perfect base to explore the Western U.P.

We had a fantastic stay at this cozy Ontonagon house. It was spotless, well-stocked, and incredibly comfortable — exactly what we were hoping for after long days of hiking, beachcombing, and exploring the Porcupine Mountains. We got lucky with a stretch of warm weather and ended up swimming in Lake Superior nearly every day. Our kids and dog loved the beach just two blocks away — peaceful, uncrowded, and absolutely beautiful. Even got some fishing inWe’re a big group — two parents, four kids (17, 14, 10, and 8), and our dog — and everyone was extremely comfortable. There was even an extra bed we didn’t end up using, which was a nice bonus. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals, and we loved relaxing in the living room after sunset.Lake of the Clouds is only about 30 minutes away, and right around the corner from the house is a great coffee shop, a gas station that has just about anything you might’ve forgotten (though the house is already stocked with so much), and an ice cream shop we visited more than once.Bill and Julie are incredible hosts — responsive within moments to any question or concern, and if they didn’t have an answer, they found someone who did. They even went above and beyond by finding bikes for our kids to ride around for the week, at no extra charge. Basically anything you need for the kitchen, laundry, beach, or your furry friend is already in the house. We’d absolutely stay here again.

This home had everything we needed for our yearly family vacation! Nothing was overlooked-attention to every detail! Even our dogs were welcomed with treats & toys! The house was comfortable & very clean!!! All ten of us had space & were able to cook, play games, & eat together! And that is just the house! Ontonagon was just as welcoming, from the people, the ice cream shop, and the beautiful lake! We chose to walk to the township park with a playground & beach most days-it felt like we were the only ones there as we enjoyed our happy place-Lake Superior! Julie & Bill were the most welcoming hosts & I would give TEN stars if possible!!!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful, comfy home & helping our family make more UP memories!!!

Home away from home

We were in Ontonagon for a funeral so it was not a happy occasion. However, the location of the house was perfect! We did not need to drive anywhere because restaurants and shops were within walking distance and the beach was at the end of the street. I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely home away from home!

Well kept home with comfortable furnishings. Great beds-so comfortable! The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook with and the dining table is really nice. It was great to be so close to Lake Superior and be able to walk to grab breakfast at Syls. The owners are very responsive and offered great suggestions. We would definitely stay again, if we are in the area.

Great house

Came up for some skiing. Weather didn’t cooperate for us as we were hoping but house was great. Very comfortable. Lots of space to spread people out for sleeping. Kitchen was well equipped for cooking and house was very clean and tidy!

Snowmobile trip

Nice old home. Plenty of room for the 5-6 of us. The owners were quick to respond to any questions we had. The use of the garage was definitely a plus!!! Highly recommend staying here!

Great house in a great location. Perfect for a Christmas getaway to visit family. House was very clean with all the amenities. It was even decorated for Christmas! Would definitely stay again.

Easy Peasy, beautiful beach!

This was a very easy place to stay with kids and dogs. The town was quaint and lovely, we enjoyed Sky’s and the ice cream shop, but nothing beats the beach!!! The house had everything we would have wanted.

Family Reunion July 2024

The house was perfect for our group which included 2 babies. The house was very clean and the owners were very generous in sharing beach towels, wagon and bikes. We didn't use the grill but all the supplies were provided. The beds and linens were great - very comfortable. Lots of extras to make our stay perfect. We especially appreciated the AC as we ended up with 90 degree days. We all agreed that we will be back in the future. Thank you!

Beautiful area- walking distance to the beach and the best little cafe - Syl’s cafe we ate at regularly. Well stocked! It is a short drive to porcupine mountains. So much beauty in the area! Wish we’d stayed longer.

Great location & great house

Had a wonderful stay with two families (including 6 under 6 year olds). The house provided a lot of really nice amenities and host communicated effectively. Located near Porcupine Mountains, the beach, and not a far drive from Copper Country. We would be happy to stay again.

Just like staying with your favorite relative.

I cannot say enough about how lovely this home is. The hosts thought of every little thing to make our stay wonderful. It truly felt like staying at a favorite relative's home (minus that relative ;) ). We have stayed at many Vrbo's and rentals and this was by far our favorite. Everything thing we needed was at our fingertips (all the incidentals that you may need to bring with you or buy at other places were provided. The hosts even left us a note giving us permission to items on the property (bicycles, grill, wagon, whatever we might need to make our vacation awesome) . We walked to the beach, restaurants, stores whatever we needed it was all at our fingertips. We had little ones who were in love with the claw-foot tub (the "magical" bathtub). We loved all the games, books linens, beach umbrella, teas, coffees and incidentals provided. We went West one day to explore the waterfalls and East one day to Copper Harbor. It truly felt like home.

All The Comfort of Home

Great layout for gathering together, and still have enough space to take some quiet time to yourself. A very easy walk to the beach, we loved the use of the garage, and all spaces were really well equipped for anything you might need. We all enjoyed our stay here!
