This peaceful lakside retreat is the perfect vacation get-a-way for all occassions. While the cottage sits on a private cove, its close to many area attractions.


Barren River Lake is a sporting lake with 3 local marinas available for boat rental. Enjoy swimming, fishing, boating and skiing on this 10,000 acre lake. Its alo home to hiking trails, horseback riding, a golf course and more!


Close by you'll enjoy attractions like Mammoth Cave, Beech Bend Amusement Park & Raceway, National Corvette Museum, Lost River Cave, Golf Courses and Nashville, TN is just a day trip away.

Beautiful lake front home

We had a great time. The home was clean and spacious, and we really enjoyed star gazing by the fire pit. Great hosts and good communication.

Helton Family Vacation 2024

We enjoyed the house inside and out. The log living room was awesome. Bedrooms were good, kitchen did not have a dishwasher but paper plates were used. Loved the porch and the bar for socializing. The Vrbo description led us to believe more than 2 bathrooms. Recommend clarifying that for the future.

Legacy Trip

I rented the Sandhill Cottage with my husband, parents, aunt, and cousin as we visited Kentucky for the first time while taking a legacy trip. During this short trip, we were able to see where my Great, Great, Great, Great, Great Grandparents lived when they settled in Kentucky in the late 1700's and learned about my family heritage. We were even able to visit their gravesites and see the former home which still stands. While we didn't spend much time at Sandhill due to the amount of traveling we did over the course of our two-day trip, we couldn't have been more pleased with the accommodations. We immediately felt right at home upon entering the cottage! The cozy house comfortably fit all 6 adults, and it was the perfect amount of space for our mini-reunion, while still providing enough privacy that one requires after spending a full 8 hours in the car with your family. We all LOVED the snack basket that was provided and the coffee + creamer selection was exactly what we needed after a long trip. We were even able to watch the Country Music Awards from the big-screen TV and bar area. We took a quick walk down by the docks and could absolutely see why so many people visit in the summer. It was perfect! Thank you to Nicole for being such an excellent host. You really thought of everything! Hope to come back again one day!

Great Family Get-away

The fishing was great! The kitchen was nice and the bedrooms we great. Lots of space for our family of 8 adults. Close to the Corvette Museum which was also worth the price of admission. We'd go back!

Labor Day rental

We had family from various places meet here. We had a great stay! House is laid out well to host and is very clean. The owner is very easy to reach and answered all of our questions quickly. We used the boat slip that came with the rental and it made bringing our boat very convenient. The only criticism I have is that the place could really use one more bathroom. Our group had 12 people and only have 2 bathrooms was a little tight. But overall great place and would recommend it!

Family Boating Fun

This cute lakehouse was easy to find with quick access in our boat to the main lake from the cove. The kids had fun swimming in the cove when we weren’t boating, playing games, or roasting marshmallows around the fire pit. Communication with the host was immediate and most helpful however the description of sleeping 12 is a stretch even with 6 of our 12 being under the age of 11. There are only two bathrooms in the house, not 2 full and 2 half. One last thought about accommodating 12 is that the kitchen ought to have enough table ware and eating utensils to allow everyone to eat at the same time. We bought plastic silverware because there was only enough for 6.

Great place to get together

Really enjoyed our stay. All of the beds were incredibly comfortable! Two of us said it was like sleeping on a cloud! House was in a quiet neighborhood and was very clean. GREAT communication with host! She even left a snack basket as a welcome. Didn't get a chance to use the karaoke machine but maybe I will on the next visit. Loved our stay!!!

HAPPY Anniversary

Nicole has gone out of her way to welcome strangers into a beautiful house making you feel comfortable & relaxed. Couldn’t have been more pleased. From the coffee bar to the margarita bar and the games for all to enjoy, nothing was forgotten to ensure a good time for all. We chose to spend our 35th anniversary enjoying time with our children and grandchildren. So glad we did it at Sandhill cottage.

Sandhill Cottage

Clean, well maintained and unique home with plenty of space. Location within walking distance to the lake and 30 minutes to the caves and park. We had a wonderful time! Highly recommend!

Very Pleasant Stay
