Quince minutos al este de Cashiers, y 55 minutos al sureste de Asheville, N. C. es Mountain Laurel Cottage; una maravillosa casa de dos habitaciones y dos baños, que cuenta con una vista espectacular, de larga distancia, al sudoeste de Chimney Top y Whiteside Mountains.

Diseñado por Al Platt (sí, el mismo que diseñó el HGTV Dream Home 2006 reconocido a nivel nacional), Mountain Laurel Cottage no solo aprovecha la impresionante vista de esta finca de cinco acres, sino que también ofrece una excelente experiencia en la montaña natural. Disfrute de la brisa fresca de la montaña o del calor de un fuego crepitante en la sala de estar / porche, cómodamente amueblada y protegida, que es el área familiar común de la casa. Proyectado en tres lados, tiene un alto techo abovedado y le permite disfrutar de los acres de la naturaleza que lo rodea. Dentro de la casa se encuentran las habitaciones, los baños, el área de estar / den y la cocina que se abre a la sala de estar / área de porche filtrada. La paz, la tranquilidad y la privacidad son sus vecinos. La finca de Mountain Laurel Cottage está situada a una altura de 3800 pies, en la propiedad de 320 acres, Preserve at Rock Creek. Great cabin in a nice quiet neighborhood. Secluded. Nicely designed and the porch was amazing. Amazing view. It is also easily accessible- no steps to the porch or on the main floor bedroom which is great for older visitors. Only negative things I’d comment on- the mattresses and bedding were below average (ok for a couple nights but I wouldn’t really want to sleep on them more than that) and there is not a good place to eat inside and the table on the porch only comfortably seats 4 which was an inconvenience for our family but would probably be fine for most people staying here. Overall a great choice for a weekend getaway in the mountains and I absolutely would recommend staying here! Thanks for a great vacation

Husband and I spent a week at this cabin and loved the location because of the security of the gated preserve and the privacy. Very few cars go up or down the road in a day, and you don’t have any close neighbors. Cabin is well stocked and beds are comfy. It was immaculate upon our arrival. We spent most of our time out on the screen porch with a fire going. Love the view of the mountains and the sunsets are amazing here. Lots of hiking nearby including on the property. This is our second stay, and we will be back.

This was our third stay over the past 12 years so we do love the place—the setting and the screened in porch/deck can’t be beat. The kitchen is better stocked with pans and utensils since prior stays but be aware you’ll need to bring your own seasonings (like salt and pepper). We weren’t able to get the gas fireplace to work or to have the firewood to burn very good so ultimately bought some Duraflame logs. A great place to relax and hear nature!

Great location for a getaway and privacy. Couple minor issues that need improvement. There’s no where to get rid of garbage. We’d have to take our garbage to a gas station and dispose of our trash there. Had to live out of my suitcase for the week since there aren’t any drawers or hangers for clothes.

The Perfect Getaway!

We decided to head to the mountains from the low country for New Years and it was the perfect way to decompress and end the year! The pictures don’t do this cottage justice - it is an absolute dream mountain cottage! My only regret is that I didn’t make our reservation for longer! Normally, I’m ready to head home, but I can honestly say I was sad to leave! The cottage was immaculate, and it had such a peaceful and cozy ambience. The outside porch was, of course, our favorite spot! We spent hours outside reading and relaxing! I can’t wait to head back again next year!

Great pet friendly home!

We had a wonderful stay for a week this fall. Community is beautiful with on site hiking and waterfalls as well as many public trails within a few minute drive. Highly recommend it, we will definately return.

Lovely cottage!

The cottage's indoor living room/kitchen was small, with no dining area, but the outdoor screened in porch more than made up for it. Master bedroom was very roomy, the only thing missing was a bureau/dresser for your clothes, which could be placed in the good-sized closet. The cottage was very well stocked, including bath products. Parking area is level, a plus and not that common in the mountains. Directions to the cottage from the gate were not detailed enough, google maps will not take you there so I would include the mileage to make it easier to find. The only contact number listed was for the out of state owner who did not respond to a call, text or VRBO message I left about having to leave a day early due to weather. All in all, a very lovely cottage for 2 in a great location with wonderful mountain views, but it is pricey when you include the taxes and fees.

Haven with Heavenly Views

We spent a blissful week here, with 5 days being just my husband and me, and 2 days including two children. We found the home to be just the right size — not even an inch wasted — and very comfortable. Most of our time was spent on the screened porch in front of the fire. We dined, relaxed, played board games and generally just stretched out time there. There was a nice mountain breeze flowing through and the most blissful sunset behind Whiteside Mountain. The rental is convenient to Sapphire, Toxaway, and Cashiers. We enjoyed hikes at Panthertown, Gorges and beyond. We will definitely look to book again next summer!

Couples Spring getaway in Sapphire NC

Great location in private community a short distance to food, hiking, zip line, golf, spa, and upscale shopping in Cashiers/Highlands. Wonderful stay, easy relaxation on screen porch to grilling on the deck. Only item of note, the white kitchen cabinetry had fine coating of dust when I wiped the door/handles following dinner. Possibly caused by the some recent wood improvements that appeared new.

Amazing Family NYE

We absolutely loved this place. Nothing was missing. spectacular views, outdoor fireplace was very cozy with the cold weather over new years. We felt at home and appreciated being disconnected from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Highly recommend this property and it's also inside of a gated preserve which was a piece of mind security.

Large screened porch with huge fireplace and mountain view.

This is the perfect house if you want a quiet family stay. It rained during our visit but we were able to enjoy the large screened porch with its huge stone fireplace and amazing view. There was plenty of cut wood and comfortable seating. The porch was also right outside the living room making communication easy between the two. Highly recommend this property!

Fantastic Mountain Views

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in early October just as the leaves were starting to change. We came intending to hike to a lot of the area waterfalls. While we did do some hiking, we found it very difficult to leave this cabin. We very much enjoyed the outdoor room with the fireplace that overlooked the mountains. We only went out to eat one evening and canceled the reservations that we had made for the other nights, because we wanted to cook something there at the cabin and eat out on the porch. The kitchen and living room are quite small, so personally, I would not have been happy if it was more than 2 people there. The only dining area is out on the porch, though there are TV tables provided. I can’t say we really minded the windy mountain road to get to the cabin. It is paved and in good shape. This was five days of relaxation as we did not hear any dogs barking, leaf, blowers, or traffic noise the whole time we were there. We will return!

Spectacular views

WOW! That is exactly what we said when we first walked into the house. The views are amazing and the screened in porch is where we spent most of our time. The house is adorable & very comfortable. Be sure to take in the sunsets.

There is so much to enjoy on the Preserve’s 320 acres including walking the Rock Creek trail and climbing to the waterfalls, horseback riding in our meadow, trout fishing in our two ponds or simply exploring the 115 species of flora and 100 species of animals that live on the Preserve. There is all of the great outdoors to enjoy but sometimes its about sitting on the porch and enjoying the views. Also, near by is swimming, golf, tennis, fine dining and family activities.

National Parks & Recreation Areas:

Mt. Laurel Cottage located in The Preserve at Rock Creek is nestled within the Nantahala National Forest, the largest national forest in North Carolina and home to many of the area’s waterfalls. There are lots of activities to enjoy in the Nantahala.

Gorges State Park is filled with plunging waterfalls, rugged river gorges, sheer rock walls and one of the greatest concentrations of rare and unique plant species in the eastern United States.

Panthertown Valley boasts a density of biodiversity equal to that of a plateau high in the Himalayas, it is practically next door to the Preserve at Rock Creek.

The 469-mile Blue Ridge Parkway is accessible at many points in this area and the Parkway is great way to take in the gorgeous views. With so many things to do you can easily spend day after day on the Parkway.

Pisgah National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park are all within an hour of the entrance to the Preserve at Rock Creek. With all these recreational areas, the number of hiking trails and other outdoor activities are too numerous to mention.
