Experience the magic of the Maine Dome Cabin, a unique 1980s Geodesic Dome in Western Maine. Step inside and be amazed by the beautiful wooden ceiling made with love. Despite its small outside, the cabin feels spacious inside with its high ceiling. Admire the special wooden state of Maine decoration and enjoy the local products found throughout the cabin. Relax by the cozy woodfire and enjoy watching movies on the big TVs. Let the Maine Dome Cabin delight your senses and leave you feeling amazed.
Inside, you'll find an open floor plan with a stunning architectural design inspired by Buckminster Fuller. Each room seamlessly connects to the next, and from the loft, you can enjoy the entire space. This getaway comfortably accommodates up to 11 people.
In case of a power outage, you can rely on the indoor wood stove for warmth, which does a fantastic job of heating the home. We provide wood for our guests, so you'll have everything you need. Additionally, we have plenty of flashlights available for your convenience. Please note that we do not issue refunds for power outages.
In the backyard, you'll discover a firepit and plenty of seating for your group to enjoy. Wood can be found alongside the home and in the wood shed out back for your convenience.
Here are some local amenities to enjoy during your stay:
- Sunday River Ski Resort (20-minute drive) offers skiing in the winter and hiking and biking in the summer.
- Mt. Abraham (12-minute drive) also offers hiking and mountain biking in the summer.
- Cranmore Mountain (1-hour drive) is great for outdoor activities.

Please note that having a car is essential to reach us. Situated on Route 232, a bustling logging road and a major thoroughfare for the area, our driveway can accommodate up to 6 large cars, and our trusty plow team ensures easy navigation even during the harshest storms. While there may be some road traffic noise inside the house, once you're inside the cozy Dome and surrounded by our breathtaking land, you'll feel a million miles away from civilization. Being on a major road means we're always the first to be plowed out and easy to find, with no treacherous mountain roads or special vehicle requirements. Keep an eye out for the real Maine industry in action - kids will love watching the logging trucks pass by from the picture window.
Don't forget to stock up on groceries and water before arriving at the Dome, as the nearest big store is in Oxford, Maine, with only a small grocery store in Bethel. With two full fridges and a mini-fridge, you'll have plenty of space for all your favorite beverages. Let us whisk you away to our enchanting paradise, where adventure and relaxation await!
