Great views and in the center of Kaanapali

This unit is a good value for double sided views of the west Maui mountains and the ocean/Black Rock. It's right in the middle of Kaanapali Beach with easy access to shops, restaurants, and a great walking path. The condo is equipped with everything you'd need for a week's vacation like we had.

Spectacular view condo

We had a great experience in this unit, the views are spectacular of Molokai, Kapalua and the west Maui Mountains. Great amenities, the people are wonderful and the beach is gorgeous. Great location next to Whalers Village and the west side of Maui in general.

Paradise

One of the nicest condominiums we have ever stayed at. Very clean well appointed has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. Bed is comfortable. Two bathrooms are a huge bonus, and the views are out of this world. There is work going on the outside of building one, but don’t let that stop you. It didn’t bother us at all. I would recommend this property to anybody going to Maui specifically kind of Holly Beach and we will be returning.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Loved the location

We always stay at the Whaler. It is a perfect location on Kaanapalii. The condo was nice. Very clean and well kept. The property management team was very receptive . They fixed a problem in the shower the next day. However check in was a hassle. The room wasn’t ready at 3:00 pm as promised. Staff at the property was indifferent. As many times I have stayed at the Whaler checking in was the worst.

We love the location of The Whaler. The views are amazing. You can walk to snorkeling, dining, surfing, etc. The condo itself was fine. The beds felt outdated. The sofa sleeper was very bumpy. The oven didn’t work. There is no laundry in the unit. The internet was down. Housekeeping said it would charge extra for an extra set of sheets for a blow up mattress that was in the unit. We’ve stayed in the Whaler before in better units with better management.

Gorgeous views, great location.

I stayed here for 6 nights with my two teenage daughters and really enjoyed the unit. What I loved about it the most was the huge wrap around balcony offering views of the ocean as well as the mountains. The unit was quite spacious and the 2 bathrooms worked out great! This was my 7th trip to Maui and I've stayed at various hotels and condos. The location is great because it's walking distance to many restaurants and the beach is great for swimming. This property is ideal for families since it feels safe and is fairly quiet. When we visit Maui we rarely hang out by the pools since there is so much natural beauty to see, and we prefer to swim in the ocean. We didn't use the pool area but it seemed nice, but not elaborate like some of the fancier resorts. The unit was well equipped and the owners were nice enough to leave boogie boards, chairs, umbrellas in the closet for our use. I could have stayed another week here!!

Fantastic Location

We love this corner unit at The Whaler because it has 2 bathrooms and an awesome view of the mountains, beach & ocean! The unit is spacious for the 4 of us. It is equipped like a regular condo. There were beach chairs/umbrellas and blow up mattresses in the closet. It’s nice that each floor has a complimentary laundry room and trash chute. The complex is nicely landscaped and conveniently located next to Whaler’s Village with nice shops & restaurants and 2 resorts over to Black Rock beach. Water excursions are offered right on the beach front. The management company was professional, accommodating, and quick in response. One thing to note, the water in the bathrooms take a few minutes to heat up. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay at this unit again.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The view is amazing! We had a lovely stay. 5-stars.Most of the time we spent on the beaches around the area, so when we were on the wrap-around lanai the low din of the building fan from the building next door wasn't that big a deal. The linens were clean, and there were PLENTY of extra plush clean towels (you have to look in the lower bathroom drawers or closets. Kitchen was great. Very clean. I do recommend for the sake of not looking dated that the owners replace the bed coverlet. It was clean, but really seemed dated compared to the rest of the place.I would stay here again. Very responsive staff.

Good stay in Maui

The condo was as described. The location had a great view of the beach and we enjoyed the corner location to get both beach and mountain view. The kitchen was well stocked to allow for making our own meals. The only downsides were that the bottom 1/3 of the sofa bed, used for our son, broke the first night. The management company provided great communication regarding the issue during the stay but was unable to resolve the problem. We made it work. The only other issue was a squealing sound coming from toilet in the second bathroom. We were able to fix the issue via the tank throughout the stay but it was a bit annoying to deal with nonetheless. The Whaler property and condo were in a great location so we would likely stay again.

Wonderful view and location!

Loved this condo! The view from the wrap around lanai includes the mountains, beach and Blackrock. The unit was clean and spacious. The king size bed was very comfortable. Basic paper supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, tissues) as well as shampoo, conditioner and hair dryers were included in the unit. I gave the accuracy of the on line listing 3 stars because it states there is a washer and dryer, leading one to believe the washer and dryer are in the unit. The washer and dryer are located in the hallway next to the elevators. They are shared with all the units on that floor. Less convenient but ok if you get up early enough to wash your clothes. Communication with properly manager I rated 3 stars because they do not have a way to pay online, except for the initial payment. Also they did not send any kind of reminder regarding signing the lease agreement. Other than those two issues the accommodations were wonderful.

Awesome views but some shortcomings

Beautiful views, great location and I really don’t like complaining unless I believe it might help. We have been coming since the 90’s and have always enjoyed the quality units at the Whaler. We were very excited to have a great view of Black Rock, and the island of Molokai. After arrival, the checkin was less than great and no fault to the Whaler as they had no record of our reservation. After several calls to the unit’s property manager we were able to clear up the error (a bit stressful after going through so many hoops just to arrive on the island only to hear you paid accommodations were not in their records). We were eager following the check in problem to find the unit dirty with counters and glass tables sticky and sliding glass doors very dirty (one would think this at least would have been cleaned to show off their views of the ocean). To make things odder, they had access panels to the drop down ceilings that were all pushed aside! After turning on the kitchen lights and seeing them steadily flicker my assumption was someone was attempting to troubleshoot the electrical problem. The bathroom next to the entry door also had the access panel open. To make things worse the bathtub was dirty with soap scum and kept backing up making taking a shower a near impossible endeavor (recognize why it was dirty because of poor drainage; however, it should have been spotless). To top this bathroom off, the toilet in this room kept running/draining and when it stopped draining it would emitted a high pitch siren noise (day and night) that would only stop if you flushed the toilet. The bedroom was nice but there were clothes left in the dresser. The master bathroom is beautiful and aside from having its drop down ceiling access panel opened too it was nice. Hopefully the owner takes action for the next vacationer, ensures the property is cleaner and has its minor problems corrected than what we experienced.
