Steps from the water, Sandy beach - ahhh…

Welcome to The Little Crooked Cottage where a newly stylishly renovated and spacious, 1600 square foot lakeside home awaits. Enjoy lakefront living on all sports Little Crooked Lake (Officially West Crooked Lake)

Sunsets and bonfires go hand in hand at the end of a day of swimming or boating on the lake. Two large Queen sized bedrooms, second bedroom has an extra daybed with trundle, along with a flex room/office/living room that can serve as a semi private 3rd bedroom with Queen size bed.(see photos for more information).

Upstairs: Full modern kitchen with a new gas stove, dishwasher, butcherblock counter, and walkout deck. Also, living room/office, two bedrooms, and full bath. Split AC Unit with ceiling fans. Enjoy your coffee with amazing lake views on the upper deck off of the kitchen or wind down at days end with a cocktail and experience the beautiful sunset views.

Downstairs: Wet bar with full size refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, and gas fireplace with lakeside walk out and full lower deck with grill to make outside entertaining easy! The walkout basement is a great place to entertain on cooler evenings or to watch a game on the 58" TV. Expandable table (140") perfect for a scrapbooking weekend!

Explore Big and Little Crooked lakes (total 350 acres) via the navigable channel with available kayaks or your own boat launched from the public access and docked in front of TLC (The Little Crooked Cottage).

The TLC is located amongst an abundance of activities for your summer and winter enjoyment including mountain biking, paved bike paths, golf and winter activities:
- Brighton State Recreation, Bishop Lake (5 minutes) Horseback Riding
- Kensington Metro Park (golf) and Island Lake State Park (15 minutes)
- Mt Brighton Ski Hill (5 minutes)
- Huron Valley Metro Park for golf in the summer and groomed Cross Country Ski trails in the winter. (10 minutes)
- Oak Pointe Country Club ( A Club Corp Private Course) is within an easy walking distance.

Get the "Up North" feeling while enjoying the closeness to the action of Ann Arbor (25 min) Lansing (45 min), and Detroit (50 minutes) UofM Specialty Care (10 min)

Our friends live in Brighton, and we rented Crooked cottage because it was 4 minutes to their house. We ended up enjoying the cottage so much! Bed was very comfy, with a beautiful view of the lake! The downstairs family room was a perfect place to hang out and watch a football game by the fire! We would definitely recommend this property! I loved watching the black squirrels, swans, and birds playing in the backyard and lake!

Long weekend on the lake

We had a wonderful stay at the LWCL property and enjoyed using the kayaks on the lake. The house had everything we needed and owners were very helpful at check in.

Family reunion 2025

Property was very welcoming. The 5 of us enjoyed ourselves and the lake;kayaking. Only thing I would recommend is a grab bar in the shower. We will recommend this little cottage on crooked lake to our friends. We had a wonderful week.

Excellent Stay

Had a great time at this house while ours was getting floors replaced. Quiet neighborhood, right on the lake and much more spacious than the pictures lead you to believe. Nice spot, would return.

Road trip !

Enjoyed a lovely long weekend, catching up with family. Host Dawn is just lovely! Brighton downtown is great! Just love the Bulldogs school spirit around the community. Neighbors are welcoming.

Very neat home on the lake

This home was exactly what we needed for our stay. Two full bathrooms, a nice kitchen area, an amazing basement with living room and kitchenette (that we unfortunately didn't have time to use), and a beautiful outdoor area. We were out and about almost the entire time we were in town, but this home made me wish we would have spent more time at it. 5/5, I would definitely book this location again.

Jim and Dawn ensured our stay was restful. They made every effort to accommodate our stay going that extra mile to o help us when our truck malfunctioned. A great effort, reasonable cost and great accommodations for anyone desiring a peaceful stay on a lake

Crooked lake retreat

We stayed with our family and our lab for 5 days. Great access to the lake with a nice sandy area for the kids and our dog. Close to stores and restaurants. Easy to find. We had a bit of confusion about the check in process but this was taken care of quickly. Dawn was responsive and available during our stay

Perfect Lakefront Cottage

The cottage was our home away from home for a week while visiting our cousin who is going to school at UM in Ann Arbor. The home is a short drive (25-30 min) from the Big House, so it was perfect for a UM football weekend. If you're looking for a quiet escape with EVERYTHING you could think to need for a week on the lake, this is it. Our family of 5 had an amazing trip out from CA. Can't wait to be back.

Super cute and clean lake house

We’ve stayed at many VRBO properties, and this is my favorite. The neighborhood is great for running (or walking), the location on the lake (with a perfect sunset view) is ideal for relaxing in the sun, kayaking, bonfires, and making memories with my family. The house decor is super cute and updated, the beds are comfy, and we loved the extra large space to hang out on the lower level with lots of games and a big table table to play on. There’s also a kitchen downstairs with an extra fridge/freezer, a super comfy couch and chairs for watching movies, bathroom and laundry room, too. The gas grill worked great for cookouts. Really the house had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation, and I highly recommend it.

Perfect Lakeside Vacation Cottage!

This home is so charming and perfectly suited for a lakeside family vacation. We felt instantly at home. The kids (and adults!!!) loved the sandy beach and swimming area and we appreciated how safe and easy it was to watch them have fun! Two fridges, a fully stocked kitchen, a gas grill and a bonus downstairs kitchenette set us up for fun family barbecues and lakeside leisure. The home was well suited for small children - lots to enjoy (fairy houses! board games! Sand toys!) and sturdy/safe enough that we weren’t too worried. Dawn and Jim are very friendly and responsive hosts and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed and more!!! We would definitely stay here again and would enthusiastically recommend!

Dawn and Jim have been married for 27 years, both pursued degrees from University of Wisconsin and Ferris State University/Rhode Island School of Design respectably. We met in the Chicago area then moved to Massachusetts, and landed a final destination in Brighton Michigan. We are a family of 4 with two adult boys. Our eldest is a Lieutenant in the US Army and a graduate of MSU, our youngest graduated from University of Dayton and is pursuing a position at Enterprise Corp since graduation in 2020. We have a 9 year old Shorkie named Peaches or Princess Peach, whom is truly one of our family members, no formal education or employment to share except through the blood sweat and tears of renovations she well earned the title of a Comfort Dog.

We love to travel and have experienced many vacation rentals along the way and believe we have anticipated your needs, and hope that you have a 5 star experience

We purchased The Little Crooked Cottage at the beginning of June 2022. Since then we spent most days tearing down, rebuilding, and designing a cottage that would provide our guests with a well thought out, esthetically pleasing environment for families to enjoy lakeside living.

Custom designed home for your family to enjoy. The lot is located on the sunset side of the lake. Enjoy this unique location from the inside out! You'll notice that throughout the cottage miniature fairy houses and doors near the baseboards of the home. Using her design skills Dawn received at RISD, she has created a fun space for families and children to explore... Ever read The Barrowers? The TLC has hidden nooks throughout the cottage where evidence of the miniature family may be found. In time - we'll have a book located at the cottage that will help you discover some of these magical moments. In the meantime, in the evening take a moment to read one of the volumes of The Barrowers, to your children available for your reading enjoyment while at our Little Crooked Cottage. Remember to be on the look out for evidence of the Clock Family (Barrowers) during your stay!

We have made some major contributions to this home. Originally the kitchen was in the basement, now the new kitchen with new appliances is upstairs and the lower walkout contains a wet bar with a full size fridge and a dishwasher. We added the upstairs and downstairs deck to gain complete access to the beauty of Little Crooked Lake and all the activities that she can provide. We've added a beach to provide a place for the kids to play and the sun worshipers to walk into the lake for a cool dip. The beach also provides an easy access point to launch the kayaks or paddle board provided by the TLC. Not a sun worshiper, but enjoy the views and a day of lounging? No problem, recline on the private lower deck or relax under the filtered shade of the Locust tree.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Sunset, private deck with neighbors to the north and an empty lot to the south so there is plenty of room that offers some privacy and room to stretch. Two full baths, 2 dishwasher and 2 refrigerators. Pet friendly with a Kennel provided.
