Cozy little villa ready for your next stay. Private beach to play and dock the boat. Just steps away from canoe, water bike rentals. Just blocks away from the boat landing. Have a fire at your own pit. This is an affordable older home on the river. If you are looking for something like the Charmant of an elegant place with no flaws this is not for you. NOTE: If you are looking for something affordable in a cute little home then this is the place. Not everything is perfect …this is why we rent out at an affordable rate. This home is for affordable not perfection! If you have high expectations please book the Chalet.

House definitely serves its purpose, but host interaction was lacking, we had an issue with the toilet clogging on Monday evening, there was no plunger provided, contacted host through VRBO, wound up having to take care of issue ourselves, (1 bathroom and 3 people, it HAS to work) host finally replied on Thursday. Water softener cycles at 1am every other morning, it is very loud and in the basement that opening is right outside master bedroom door so it will wake you up. There was no bleach to sanitize dishes as noted on the notes left on living room table. No dish towels in kitchen, I bought two and left them behind. Water smelled horribly of sulphur. Bath towels were put in linen closet still very damp, I had to lay them around the house to dry since there are no laundry facilities. Batteries in remote for tv were dead. The house served it's purpose, we chose over a hotel to be able to cook and not have to eat out as often and to have room for parking with our boat easily. Neighbors were friendly. Trash service never ran while we were there, outside receptacle was already half full when we arrived. Would recommend house as long as you are not super picky

My family and I arrived after check in time. The house was not cleaned. The beds were left the way the previous occupants had slept in. The bathroom was dirty with used towels lying on the floor. The kitchen and dining room floor had not been cleaned.I immediately informed the host upon noticing the condition of the property. She responded within 15 minutes. She gave us 2 options, wait an additional 3 hours until someone could arrive to clean, or she would refund our entire stay. We chose to have our stay refunded, and found another property.I communicated that I was disappointed that the property was not ready, and that this has never happened after booking several properties in the past. The host accused us that we booked last minute, and it would have been cleaned had we given more notice. The property was booked 48 hours prior to the date of check in.After looking at other reviews this seems to be an issue. Another individual had the same issue that they arrived to the property not being clean and ready.I would not recommend staying at a property managed by this host.

As the host states, it’s not perfect but for the price it’s what we expected and maybe a bit better. The only real disappointment is cleanliness. Not sure who or where the cleaning fee goes. The place was relatively clean but you didn’t want to look to closely in the harder to access spaces of the home.

Our stay overall was good for the price. We enjoyed being close to the river and having a dock to use. Our kids loved swimming and playing in the sand on the small beach.The listing said there was a deck but there isn't. And the water is a bit farther from the house that we expected. We also have a toddler and there is an open staircase to the basement, which would have been nice to know about. We would have brought a baby gate.The grill was in the back but had no propane. We had to switch out the tank with the owners other house next door. While we did enjoy the week, the house is not very well kept. It need a good cleaning, there was hair everywhere. There were also several things in the house that were broken or falling apart.

There was a mud wasp nest between the front door and screen door. Neither TV in the house would work. The water from all faucets and shower smelled like rotten eggs. The property was not ON the water, you had to walk down a hill to get to the dock. The yard was unkept. The property was moderately cleaned. When I contacted the owners about the issues, they failed to act and said I was freaking out and had a lot of drama (very unprofessional).

The beds weren’t made and had crumbs in them, smashed Doritos all over the dining room floor. The AC would not work it was 77• and rising by the minute dirt on floor, cobwebs all over the lamp shades. The lights and fans were confusing and the directions that were left were not helpful at all. We ended up not staying and got our back

Nice but needs attention

The house was nice, accommodating and clean. The water pressure in shower was poor and need softener for well water. Also we could not get amazon firestick to work in bedroom kept saying could not connect to internet. Overall nice house and good location.

Cozy 3 bedroom

Nice place for what we were looking for. (3 bedrooms) The only slight improvements needed are water pressure in shower was lacking. The water does have a slight smell. Beds were comfortable. Nice kitchen, great view of water, with dock access. Thank you for allowing us to stay.

Mother’s Day Stay

We enjoyed the French Island vibe. We ate at River Rats and Tom Sawyers, great food and people. Enjoyed the dock and fishing. Wish beach was little cleaner but it is spring. Ceiling fans all worked and slept great. Liked the king size bed. Couldn’t find a sheet they said was left with WiFi info. They did get that to us. Was a perfect Mother’s Day weekend in the La crosse area.

Very disappointed.

Place looks nice inside. Water smelled like rotten eggs. Shower head was not working correctly. No water pressure. Very disappointed. Reading the reviews after I had already booked this is an ongoing issue. Back from at least 2023. I feel I should get a 50% refund. I literally didn’t shower

Girls weekend

House was the perfect size and location for our trip. The only issue and it was a pretty big one was with the water. It had a strong sulfer smell. When I reported to owner, she said we should have just ran the water longer and it would have gone away. There were 5 females..flushing toilets, washing dishes etc. Smell never went away. So strong that we didn't want to shower in it.

Smelly Water

Cute but not clean, water was unusable for washing, eating cooking or drinking- sulfur smell almost gagged you! Beds were comfortable. Toliet seat fell off on second day. Nothing in Lacrosse Down town was open due to road construction- I was not happy with my trip at all.

Cute decor with a few quirks. Wi-Fi sketchy. Suggestions - garbage can in bathroom, large fry pan, directions for coffee pot (never saw one that brewed and then warmed). Worked for our quick stay and great location for our needs. Owner quick to respond.

Ok

No hair dryer, no mirror in main bedroom, not enough amenities.. only 2 rolls of toilet paper, no spare, Cobb webs at front door and windows in kitchen, water smells like sewer. The shower water smells like sewer and so we didn’t want to shower. Could use some really good scrubbing/cleaning. Weedy path to the dock. Way too many electrical outlets and switches, dirty windows. Beautiful view from the dock, 2 big TV’s . Master bedroom was spacious and more updated. Bed was comfortable.

Good night's sleep at the Lake House.

The photos on VRBO don't do this comfy lake cottage justice. The primary bedroom was bright and HUGE! A king size bed looked tiny in it. The bed was extremely comfy. I felt spoiled in this modern farmhouse decorated room. The teens were happy with their rooms and said the beds were surprisingly comfy as well and they slept well. (Okay...the 6'1" one complained about a twin bed...but it was really just fine.) My daughter's boyfriend joined us on our trip--it was nice having a separate bedroom for him as a hotel would not have offered me that sleeping comfort! The dining room and kitchen seemed very adequate. We didn't do any cooking, but it seemed well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, baking dishes, etc. The family room was cute too...I felt like I was revisiting my youth in the mid century modern decor. Lots of games. We played cards and hung out our last night just to relax a bit after being on the go all day. Bathroom was tiny, but it had a shower and a toilet--all we needed. We also enjoyed sitting out on the huge dock as well. This was my first VRBO stay and it checked all the boxes that I needed for our weekend getaway. We wanted a bit more space than a hotel and it definitely offered that at a comparable price. We weren't expecting a brand new house. It was an older home with character. The only trouble we had was I had the wrong code. I called and it was taken care of in less than a minute by the host. Would stay again!
