Home Truths: - We allow service animals at this home. If undisclosed pets are brought into the home without AvantStay's approval there is a fine of $500 per pet. - Due to extreme wildfire risk, any type of outdoor wood burning fireplaces, fire pits, or charcoal grills are strictly prohibited. Violations will result in fines starting at $5,000 per Lake Tahoe short term rental regulations. - Please note that all outdoor furniture and amenities, including grills, are seasonal and available from Memorial Day through Labor Day. - This house uses an electric bear fence across doors and windows to deter bears that can be easily deactivated upon your arrival. - This home does not have AC. - Please note our occupancy includes an additional two beyond bed count. Trifold floor mattresses and additional linens can be provided upon request.

This is a smoke-free property. Violation of the no-smoking policy will result in forfeiture of the security deposit, a $300 smoking fee, and liability for any fire or property damage costs.
As part of our commitment to being good neighbors, occupancy limits and quiet hours (9pm-8am) are strictly enforced. No speakers or sound systems will be provided for use in our properties. Violation of any noise ordinances will be subject to fines that can reach up to $10,000 per violation.
Events or parties are not allowed without prior written approval and an additional fee. Any unauthorized parties or events will be shut down and a fine will be assessed. Please inquire for more information about our event policies and fees.
There is nothing more important to us at AvantStay than the health, safety, and experience of our guests & staff. We've enhanced our cleaning and sanitation protocols and are taking extra care to disinfect all surfaces between reservations with hospital-grade disinfecting solutions.
As a reminder, we do work with 3rd party vendors to maintain the property, and although we adhere to the strictest CDC guidelines and advise all contractors to wear PPE equipment, we can not always enforce. We strongly advise guests to please deny access if any vendors fail to meet and adhere to these standards.
IDs will be requested for verification after booking. All bookings over 30 days require a security deposit.

The cabin is in a nice location, few minutes from the lake. The cabin is slightly dated but is good if you are in for something rustic. Avant Stay did a good job with communication and real time help for anything you need.

Wonderful stay At Chamberlands
Overall we (10 of us) had a wonderful stay! Our sleeping arrangement was: 2 people in the 3 queen beds, 3 people in the king, and 1 person on the couch. Comfy couch, but it is still a couch. We would likely bring an air mattress next time. Would definitely come back/recommend!

Great location, outdated property
The location of this property is excellent. However, the property itself is outdated and not well furnished, given the nightly rate. We were disappointed by the quality of the kitchen and bathroom amenities, lack of comfortable deck seating and general cleanliness. Hopefully the owners will invest back into the property.

Could use some updates
Booked this home to ski in Tahoe. Relatively close to Squaw Valley and nearby restaurants. Overall, the home worked for 4 adults staying as we each had our own bedroom. That being said, we ran into issues with the hot water not lasting, the heat not working in the master bedroom, and the fireplace not lighting. Maintenance came buy and did address the water and heat with space heaters, but fireplace never was fixed. Kitchen had enough supplies and cookware to get us going. We also had a couple bears break into the outside garbage unit but after a call to management, they addressed the issue and cleaned up the trash that was spread across the driveway and yard.

Summer family gathering
Chamberlands in Homewood on the west shore of Lake Tahoe is a fabulous location. We have a home right around the corner and needed additional housing to accommodate our entire family. The house is very worn and has not been taken care of. The stairs leading to the front door are unstable and not lit; we had two family members fall. The deck off the kitchen also is not stable and has a huge gap between the floor and the first board of the railing. A child can easily fall through so needless to say we did not utilize the deck. AvantStay responded immediately by sending a technician to try to get the outdoor lighting to work but were unsuccessful. They were quite taken aback by the condition of the house. The bedrooms were clean which allowed the house to work since we spent the majority of time at the beach and at our house. Overall we were very disappointed with the house.
