The homeowner was incredibly kind and very responsive, which we truly appreciated. The house is in a great location, especially for anyone planning a weekend of fishing or hunting, and the upstairs porch is spacious and perfect for a BBQ or gathering. The fridge, linens, and towels were all clean as well.Unfortunately, the home wasn’t the right fit for our particular needs during this visit. We had hoped for my sister-in-law, who had just begun chemotherapy, to use the downstairs primary suite for extra privacy. Being right on the water, the lower level felt quite damp, even with the window AC unit and dehumidifier running. Out of concern for her health and potential mold/mildew issues, my brother and sister-in-law decided it would be safer to stay in a hotel.We also noticed some cleanliness and maintenance issues: a few critters downstairs, some mold on several AC vents and nearby ceiling areas, missing or burned-out lightbulbs in multiple fixtures, no window covering in the bathroom, and some dried food on dishes and utensils that required re-washing. Two of the bunk-bed room walls also had some marks that appeared unclean.Because of these concerns, my husband and I chose to shorten our stay. While this property has a lot of potential and could be great for the right type of trip, it just wasn’t the best fit for our situation.
