Tranquil Waterfront Cottage in Shady Side - 50 minutes to DC
About this space
Escape to our peaceful, riverside cottage. Enjoy sweeping views of the West River with 390 feet of private waterfront. Spectacular sunsets, blue heron and birds galore. Cottage is recently-renovated and tastefully appointed with a kitchen set for the cooking enthusiast. Expansive yard with over 2 acres - it is unusual to have this much distance from neighbors in Shady Side - and plenty of space to relax shaded by old oaks. Under an hour from DC.
The space
Water views from every room. We love to escape the city and relax on the deck or patio. You will often seen fishermen out crabbing near our dock or heading out to the Bay. We have caught quite a few fish off our dock ourselves! Paddle board or kayak, plenty of space in the yard for soccer or tag, ninja line, zip line, croquet and bocce sets at the house.
The house has been recently renovated and is equipped with all new appliances. We love to cook and entertain and have outfitted the kitchen accordingly - it is small but mighty! There is a separate pantry with washer/dryer, extra sheets, blankets, beach towels, small appliances (including ice cream maker, instant pot, hand mixer), extra spices, etc. We have tried to create a peaceful and welcoming retreat for our family and friends, and we hope you enjoy it as well! Perfect for a couple or family with older children.

Our house is right on the water - you cannot build this close any longer - with a private pier. There is no fence between the yard and the water, and the pier is not gated. In addition, due to erosion, we ask that you please stay back at least 6 feet from the sea wall. The property may not be appropriate for those with small children.
