Basecamp: Pool + Mtn Views. Hudson Valley Getaway

Summary:
Basecamp is a modern and spacious retreat in the heart of the scenic Hudson Valley, located 2 hours from NYC, in Saugerties, NY.

Set on 19 serene and private acres with a long driveway, the 3 bedrooms and 2 full bath house has gorgeous mountain views. Amenities include a heated swimming pool, fireplace, outdoor shower, high-end kitchen, and access to the best hiking and dining in the region. Centrally located 10 minutes to Woodstock, Saugerties and Kingston, and under 25 minutes to Hunter Mtn.

The Space:
Inspired by the elegant simplicity of Scandinavian summer houses, and named after an attempt by the owner’s family to trek to Everest Basecamp, this exciting modern build was completed in 2018. Approached by way of a 800-foot gravel driveway that meanders through the woods, Basecamp’s striking black facade emerges in a clearing that opens to include a view of Overlook Mountain.

The interior is sleek and uncluttered; with a Zen vibe that permeates the entire experience in the house and on the grounds. Thanks to a dramatic glass wall of sliders that runs along the entire main living area, natural light floods the open concept space, presenting occupants with expansive vistas of the property, as well as of the 65-foot long heated swimming pool with stone terrace just outside the door. All the while Overlook is a presence that reflects changing light throughout the day.

In terms of design, the kitchen (and the whole house, for that matter) is a minimalist’s dream, with high-end Thermador appliances disappearing behind integrated custom panels. The oven has a warming drawer, and there is an induction cooktop. At the same time, foodies will relish the long fields of unobstructed counter space on which to create their culinary masterpieces.

The lounge area is a welcoming gathering spot for relaxing and reconnecting, where movies can be shown on the projector and where wintertime’s counterpoint to the seasonal lure of the pool is the fireplace.

Two bedrooms sleep three each, with upper lofts reached by ship’s ladders. The master has a king-size bed and private en suite bath with a spacious walk-in shower. A second bath off the main hallway has a deep soaking tub. In warmer months, guests can opt to shower al fresco in an outdoor vestibule just off of the main bath. Out by the pool’s terrace is a Wolf grill with a gas connection, so no running out of propane before the ribs are done!

Air conditioned for hot days, and radiant floor-heated for cold nights, Basecamp is all about comfort, style, and amenities. The ultra-private 19-acre setting is blissfully peaceful, while less than a ten minute jaunt to the desirable goings-on in Woodstock and Saugerties.

Hunter Mountain is a 30-minute drive. Belleayre Mountain is a 45-minute drive.

The Neighborhood:
Basecamp is located in the heart of The Catskills, in the town of Woodstock. This charming, walkable town has lots of explore-worthy stores and restaurants. Grab a coffee and a bagel at The Mud Club. For lunch, don’t miss Garden Cafe or Dixon’s Roadside For dining, Silvia and Good Night are a must followed by a drink at Tinker Street Tavern. Shop any number of cute mom-and-pop shops on Tinker St. Don’t forget to explore the various hikes around the Catskills, we recommend Overlook Mountain. Getting Around:
Basecamp is less than two hours from New York City, and you'll definitely want a car to get there and around the area.
In the winter, we recommend a car with four-wheel drive that can handle the snow and gravel roads.

Other Things to Note:
Cooling: There is central AC throughout the house, and ceiling fans are available in every bedroom, if needed.
