Hakuna Matata – Worry-Free Island Living on North Captiva

Escape to Hakuna Matata, a bright, beautiful 3-bedroom, 2-bath home located on the car-free paradise of North Captiva Island — just a short ferry ride from Florida’s Southwest coast. Perfect for families, groups, and couples, our home is designed for pure relaxation.

Enjoy a spacious open floor plan with marble floors, a granite kitchen and minibar, and cozy spaces both indoors and out. The Owner’s Suite features luxury linens, a plush king sized mattress, a walk-in shower and a private deck. The second bedroom offers another king sized bed and a peaceful outdoor sitting area. Our third bedroom features a queen sized bed and a triple bunk, perfect for families or a third couple. These two bedrooms share the second bathroom, also with a walk-in shower.

Fully stocked for your stay, the kitchen includes stainless steel appliances, a Keurig and coffee maker, blender, Insta-pot, and reverse osmosis drinking water. Share meals around the large indoor table or on the scenic screened porch overlooking nature.

Cool off in the private pool, or gather in the shaded entertainment area with a brand-new pool table, ping pong, TV, grill, outdoor shower, and games.

Two golf carts are included for exploring the island, enjoy the 350-acre preserve(walking or biking only), stunning beaches, and breathtaking sunsets. Plus, you’ll have access to the exclusive Island Club with pools, a poolside bar, kayak and bike rentals, and more.

North Captiva offers world-class shelling, fishing, stargazing, and unforgettable wildlife encounters — dolphins, manatees, tortoises, and nesting sea turtles.

Your stay includes personalized concierge service, easy ferry transportation tips, and optional grocery delivery right to the island.

We had an amazing stay at the Hakuna Matata house. The home was clean, really good layout, super comfortable, and perfect for a relaxing island trip. One of our favorite parts of the property was the pool and outdoor space. After spending time at the beach, it was great to come back and swim or relax by the pool. The screened lanai was also a great place for dinner in the evenings with the family.The location was great too. The beach was close and easy to get to and having golf carts available is a game changer instead of having to rent them. We could run out for ice cream or supplies quickly and hauling fishing gear is much easier. The house has everything you need and more. It’s beautiful, very well maintained and clean, lots to do and my family absolutely loved it. We will definitely stay there again.

North Captiva, our families favorite place to get away. Another amazing stay on the island. First time staying at this property. Andrew was an amazing host and excellent communicator. Some travel delays and one minor problem with the golf cart battery and Andrew was extremely responsive and fixed our problem immediately. Nothing at all bad to say about this property, it was amazing. We will be back again for sure!

Great vacation

Everything was as described and more. We enjoyed every aspect of the vacation from the house, outdoor living space, sand roads and golf cart rides to the beach. Definitely a vacation for the books.

We booked this as a client fishing trip and could not have asked for a better home base. The house was spotless, beautifully maintained, and had everything we needed — from a fully equipped kitchen to comfortable beds and an amazing outdoor space. After long days on the water, coming back to a private pool and shaded entertainment area with ping-pong and a grill was a dream. The location is perfect: just a few steps from the beach, with easy golf-cart access across the island, yet peaceful and private.The logistics were smooth, the check-in was seamless, and communication with the host was excellent! We especially loved how easy it was to get to great fishing spots, then unwind back at the house with a cold drink and good company. Bottom line: this place made our fishing trip more than just successful — it made it unforgettable. Highly recommend for fishing trips, family getaways, or just a quiet escape.

Best stay

We had the best stay at Hakuna for a girls’ weekend. Andrew was so easy to communicate with and so helpful both before and during our stay. The house was clean and set up with everything we needed for the weekend, from cookware and coolers to beach towels and two golf carts. We absolutely loved our stay and look forward to coming back in the future!

Highly recommend

Hakuna was the perfect house for us. Very comfortable, loved the screened in porch, kitchen had everything you could need. Beds are very comfortable & the decor is great & very welcoming. Our kids loved the pool & we all played ping pong & some pool. It’s steps away from the beach making it easy to get to the beach for the day or just going for sunset. We look forward to returning

Great Family Stay on North Captiva

We stayed at Hakuna Matata over Spring Break for our first visit to North Captiva—and the house exceeded our expectations. The pool and outdoor entertainment area quickly became our favorite spots. It’s the mark of a great vacation when your biggest dilemma is deciding when to leave the pool for the beach. Having two golf carts made exploring the island easy and convenient. Andrew was a responsive and thoughtful host, promptly addressing any minor issues that came up. The home was well-equipped with everything we needed for the beach, pool, and meals. A perfect stay for our family of six.

House was awesome

Not really sure what else to say, it was exactly as advertised, clean, well stocked, great location. Everything you look for in a North Captiva rental. Also 2 golf carts in good shape was a plus. The property manager, Andrew, was great as well, just a quick text or phone call away. Already discussing a return.in the near future.

Great property! Can’t wait to return!

Everything was great and I don’t have any complaints. Andrew was helpful and the house feels brand new. The house comes with two golf carts which were immensely helpful! We’re already discussing coming back. If you’re new to North Captiva, it’s only accesible by boat. Be sure to plan out your arrival and departure to align with the ferry service. I recommend the ferry from the North Captiva Island Club, and recommend the luggage assistance service. You’ll also want to plan groceries or arrange for a grocery delivery service as there is only a pool bar/restaurant and one semi-fine dining restaurant on the island. There’s also only a very small market for anything you forgot, but it’s extremely overpriced. For example, a travel size bottle of bug spray is $10.50 and a bottle of wine that retails for $9 on the mainland was $35 there. As long as you go into it knowing you’re on an island, you’ll have a great time disconnected from the world!

Cannot wait to go back!

We arrived to a tropical paradise only to be greeted with a beautiful, stunning apartment - with our own golf buggies and pool! Loved the number door lock feature to get in. Once we settled in, it was clear to see every aspect had been taken care of. With spacious rooms, the comfiest bed and pillows known to man, it really felt as though we had arrived in heaven. The things Ireally loved (apart from everything!) were all of the kitchen gadgets and crockery, with a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer and all of the products available to use within them. There were usb sockets every where which made charging so easy. The bathrooms were adorned with plenty of flannels, towels and room scent sprays, along with spacious showers. As it was just the two of us, we decided to treat ourselves to a bathroom each! With 3 balcony areas, each morning was spent listening to the birds and wildlife, overlooking the tropical paradise we were in, a real must! Exploring this island, each day we found new treasure and the Island bar is a must (I could have visited this every day). I could go on and on, but really the only way to experience this, is to come live it. We will be back.

Our family had the most incredible vacation at Hakuna Matata—truly the best we’ve ever had. We traveled with our twenty-something children and their significant others, along with two teens and a nine-year-old, and the home accommodated all of us comfortably.We spent our days enjoying the outdoor amenities—playing pool, ping pong, and cornhole, as well as relaxing by and swimming in the pool. When we ventured out, we loved swimming at the beach, kayaking with boats provided by the Island Club, and exploring the nearby nature preserve. The two golf carts were a fantastic bonus, making it easy for everyone in our group to explore the island at their leisure.The house itself was spotless and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. There were ample cooking and cleaning supplies, dishes, and paper products, which made our stay seamless. The layout was ideal, offering both shared spaces and plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax.Andrew was exceptional—he made both arrival and departure smooth, easy, and completely stress-free. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely book Hakuna Matata again in the future.
