relaxing riverside retreat

Spacious clean house with a great view. Outdoor activities abundant, indoor fun included too. Great area Echo Lake, Cathedral Ledge, Kancamagus Highway, and a short drive to Mt Washington. Definitely recommend and look forward to staying again!

Beautiful and Convenient location

We loved our stay on the Saco here! The house is a very short drive into North Conway but in such a quiet, family-friendly spot with direct river access. We were able to enjoy all of the local attractions, including Story Land and hiking and some great local restaurants too! We would definitely return in the future!

Great Stay!

We loved the house! It was spacious, very clean with a large back yard. The s'mores "welcome gift" was a big hit with the little ones. Bruce, our host, was responsive and communication was very timely. Can't wait to come back!

Fun spot for hanging out on the Saco

The riverfront was super fun, tubing/kayaking/paddleboarding from the bridge 3 miles up also quite fun. The house had WAY more than we needed, I think it was more tech-savvy than our own house! Which my tweens loved. They also spent a lot of time sitting in the crystal clear river and corralling tiny fish into stone fish hotels. My former raft-guide husband even gave some struggling canoeist a quick lesson as they passed by us, sideways. The road traffic and river traffic was sometimes a bit loud for my late-sleeping tweens, but mostly on the weekends. And the river ruckus was a happy ruckus. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is we are not used to being on a main road and hearing cars. But a city dweller would find this spot super super quiet. It's a great base camp for any White Mountain adventure.

Thanks Katie for the great review. While we are located on West Side Rd., which is great as we have Saco River access we are about 150 feet off the road down a good hill. You can't see our house from the road.

Great house, great location! Perfect family getaway...

This is our second year renting this house and it's our favorite of the 5 years we've been coming up to NH. Clean, comfortable, spacious, quiet. So close to town, yet feels very private. We made good use of the Horseshoes and Ladder Ball in the backyard. The house has everything we need for a comfortable stay. Last year one of our ONLY disappointments was the mattress....my husband did have trouble sleeping (bad back), but this year was MUCH better on the new King-sized mattress in the master bedroom (great improvement!). But the BEST thing about the home is the river access. A short walk across the backyard and you can go swimming, tubing, exploring in the crystal clear, gorgeous Saco River. Our 2 boys (12 and 14 years old) absolutely love it. They walked, waded, swam, dove, snorkeled, tubed for hours and hours. A few folks pass by in kayaks and tubes, but other than that we mostly had the river to ourselves. This year we drove up to the bridge and tubed back to the house. On that stretch of the river there are lots of tubers and kayakers, but most of them get out of the river a ways before the house. So, lots of options for enjoying the river! Overall, highly recommend this rental. Thanks Bruce!

Great location but very outdated and in need of safety repairs!

Location was very convenient to everything North Conway has to offer and it was far enough off the main road. Having the Saco river right there was fantastic, however accessing it was pretty treacherous. Very steep steps then boulders to get into the river. The house was very outdated and dark. Doors were coming off hinges, light in fridge didn’t work and the deck was downright unsafe. There were areas where the wood was completely rotted and broken and we were afraid someone would fall through it as the worst area was right outside the back door so you had no choice but to step on it. There was not adequate paper goods. We ran out in day two of our 7 day stay. I contacted the host and he did offer to reimburse me for having to go out and buy the items which I didn’t bother with. More of an inconvenience that we had to go buy them in the first place, especially since you already have to bring all your own sheets, pillow cases, and towels. The absolute worst part of our experience in this home was that it was sweltering in the house, even with the few old fans provided. I understand the listing does not say they have ac, but why not?? Most days were like 95 degrees and the heat just drained us all. Even an ac in a couple of the bedrooms would have made a HUGE difference. Lastly, and most significant, huge heavy tree limbs fell from high above right in the backyard where my little 3 and 4 year old girls were playing just minutes before!! And this was a main area of the yard! If anyone had been in that location at the time it would have been very very bad. The host said it was an act of God, but the tree looked dead to me! The dead limbs should have been dealt with before a potential disaster like this occurred. Very scary!! I don’t usually write reviews and the host did accommodate us last minute because another host cancelled on us last minute, but we were just overall very disappointed with our stay here. With some updates and some safety issues addressed, this could be a very nice property. Maybe better suited for the winter.

Hey - my first non five star review. After 10 years of renting it had to happen at some point. I would like to address a few points this renter raised. Not sure how many how much paper goods this renter used but we restock after every renter leaves and a new one comes in. Generally three rolls of paper towels and two to three rolls of toilet paper per toilet. Never had a rented run out before and when this renter reached out I offer to reimburse her if she needed to restock some items. She chose not to take me up on my offer. My house is a in the woods as advertised. Photos clearly show every room as well as the stairs down to the river. The house is also listed as not having AC. She happened to be here during the hottest week of the year, but again, I am upfront that I don't have AC. She was well aware of that before she rented. In addition, this renter took advantage of a late minute cancellation and booked my house the day before she arrived. She clearly could have been aware of the 10 day forecast showing it was going to be very hot and could have chosen not to rent, but she did rent, again knowing I didn't have AC. Light in the fridge works, also I have two pocket doors that are older, but do work. Due to this renter I replaced a few deck boards that needed to be replaced. My deck is roughly 275 square feet. I replaced about 15 feet of decking and two pieces were outside the door (out of about 7 pieces). My house is on seven acres in the woods. Branches do come down from time to time. My grounds are well taken care of and I have a landscaper on site on a weekly basis.

Great Vacation spot on the river!

My family and I loved this house! Perfect spot with access to the Saco River right in the backyard. We all spent quite a bit of time swimming, snorkeling, tubing! It’s a short drive to the shops and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Plenty of room in the backyard to sit and enjoy the view! Bruce is very responsive, easy to communicate with. We would love to return again!!

Our go-to vacation spot for the saco

My friends and I have now been twice to Bruce's cabin, and it's the perfect spot for floating down the Saco, as well as enjoying downtown North Conway. Bruce is accommodating, attentive, and provides a clean and spacious place for large groups to enjoy. The cabin itself has good size rooms, plenty of bathrooms, a fantastic finished basement, and a sizeable kitchen/dining room. Lastly, the back yard is right beside the river, amazing area to relax and enjoy the ambiance!

Fantastic stay!

My family and I were looking for a place to explore North Conway in the winter. Bruce’s place was the perfect launching point. The house is clean, spacious, and fit our needs perfectly. Check in and out was super easy; the location is close numerous ski, outdoor activities, restaurants etc, which kept us busy, yet having a house to retreat to at the end of the day was just what we needed to relax after our exploring! I highly recommend!

Fantastic fall getaway with nearby North Conway center

Our group stayed for a long weekend, and had a great time staying on site, as the waterfront property allowed us to hang by the Saco river, then we could make a 10 minute drive to North Conway's main street section for food and drinks. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to stay comfortably with a group, and great privacy/access to the river and other nearby attractions. Highly recommend this location

Clean, comfortable with unbeatable location

We stayed in the house with our two children 7 & 3 and spent hours on the river. The kids loved floating down river and the walking back up the beach over and over again. The house was clean and comfortable with lots of space. Plenty of room for another family. Property was private and quiet, perfect for a relaxing moment. Working with the owners was easy. They provided an information packet with everything you would need to know about the house and the area. The location allows you to avoid the traffic of downtown N. Conway but easily access it if you wish. It's the best of both worlds.

An amazing property on the Saco river!

Me and seven other adults spent an amazing Memorial Day weekend at this property! The house is right on the river. Bruce the homeowner was great to deal with if we had any questions. He sent me an extremely detailed check in package that listed everything the property had, restaurants and attractions in the area, as well as multiple places in the area to access the river. It answered questions I didn’t even know I would have. The house was so clean and had more than enough room for my companions and myself. We all enjoyed the nice s’mores check in package they left us on the counter. Even though we did have rain for two days, this home was stocked with more than enough board games, video games and streaming TVs to keep us occupied while inside. We can not wait to return to this property again!

Big house, plenty of space great location!

My friends and I do a trip every year, this was our 18th year! Our stay was great, weather was wet but we made the most of it! House is perfect for a big or small group. Lots of bathrooms, open concept beautiful private yard and on the river! Thank you for making our stay memorable we'll be back next year to do it again!

Fantastic vacation!

My three teenage children,my husband, and I all had a great time. We spent a lot of time just floating on tubes on the Saco which was just steps from the house. Great location too-really close to Zebs, Horsefeathers,etc....great farm stand nearby....The house was clean and comfortable.

Beautiful North Conway Property

This home is perfect for families or groups of friends. My wife, son and I spent 3 nights at the house and were pleasantly surprised. The yard is large and private, the house is spacious and clean. Access to the river can be a bit dicey, but the location on the river and in close proximity to Echo Lake, Cathedral Ledge and N. Conway Village is ideal. Far better and more cost effective than staying at a hotel near Storyland or Santa's Village. We will be returning soon for sure.

Excellent location and very private!!

This property is perfect for a family or two of all ages. There is more than enough room with the bedrooms on the first floor and the entire apartment style area in the basement. My 16 year old nephew was psyched to have his own little space!! Access directly on the Saco River even with a staircase that leads you to it. A nice hiking trail just a few feet away leads you to a private beach. Horseshoe pits and other games available from owner. Great deck to hang out on and enjoy some cocktails, conversation, and the stars. We've been renting in N. Conway for over 10 years and this is the best one yet! Relaxing

Wonderful stay. We have stayed here twice. Once just my husband and 2 1/2 yr old son and the other time with some friends. The house worked great for both times. The second time was warm enough we were able to go down and get in the river and let the kids play in the sand. Very nice little beach and shallower water to take a chair and sit in the river. Recommed water shoes as they are nice to have walking on the rocks. Everything was clean and well maintained. Didn't find grilling tools for the grill. So those and bathroom soap would be two items I would recommend bringing. Otherwise house is completely stocked with what you need for the stay. The s'mores stuff was a nice treat. Overall Nice and relaxing place close to town. Would definately stay again and recommend the place.
