House is in a great location to the beach. Maybe 100 yards if that. Outside is great. Pool area and yard for kids & dogs is great. First problem is that even though it’s a “dog friendly” rental…when we arrived the bed sheets and blankets were covered in dog hair (and we ended up not bringing out dogs, so it wasn’t our dogs). Secondly, we arrived and the house was HOT. Obviously it’s hot outside but it’s horrible to arrive to your vacation home and walk into a 78 house. Then for the week, the upstairs did NOT cool whatsoever. The bottom 2 floors stayed nice and cool but the top floor (where the master bedroom is) stayed 80 degrees. Thermostat was set to 68. We kept doors and blinds closed thinking that would help. It didn’t. So I went out and bought 2 fans to help cool the top floor. The couches in the living room are awful. Old leather with holes and when you sit down on them you can’t even get back up because they’re so broken down. So we didn’t utilize the living room much, either. The dryer does NOT dry well. After cleaning the vent trap and everything I was still having to dry things over. Lastly in the check in book it says don’t turn the refrigerator and freezer past medium…and to give it time to cool down. We did as instructed. The refrigerator does NOT keep food cold….room temperature at best. Even after days of letting it adjust. Bottom line is the house itself is wonderful. But MANY MANY things need upgraded especially for the price charged to stay for a week!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family enjoyed our stay at Happy Dog Days from the moment we pulled into the driveway. The elevator was a plus for my disabled father and great for assisting with getting groceries and luggage to the top floor. The home was very clean, but we did immediately realized that the rug on the second floor hallway had an odor, so we rolled it up and left it on the covered porch during our stay and did not notice an odor again. The couch was very difficult for some family members to get in and out off as it sits very low, but otherwise comfortable. Overall, we enjoyed being on vacation in a home that embraces family to include our fur babies. I would absolutely rent this home again as the set up is perfect for my family and dogs. The fenced in area in the back yard allowed for the dogs to run and play and I didn’t worry about them getting out. Overall it was a great experience!!

Happy Dog Day Vacation

We enjoyed the location of the beach house as it was located very close to many places we wanted to see and shop. The beach access was great!Our furry companions enjoyed the property too.I think the elevator was a fantastic way to fully access the different levels especially for some of our elderly family.Kitchen was great..pool and hot tub were thoroughly enjoyed.Overall experience was excellent!!The staff at Beach Realty were wonderful to deal with and we had no problems. We would recommend this property to others.I would however suggest updating furniture and sofas on 3rd level as they have been "enjoyed" alot it would appear.

Winter Beach Is Fun

We usually rent a home in Kitty Hawk during the summer, but decided to mix things up and spend New Years in Nags Head. The home was perfectly situated on the beach road with a close cross walk and views of the beach. The house offered all of the amenities, including an elevator and a hot tub. We would definitely sty here again--maybe in the summer next time!

September Beach Week with my Adult Kids

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was my first stay in Nags Head. I have ben coming to the Banks since the seventies with multiple stays in Duck, Salvo and Buxton. Nags Head street noise was overwhelming over Labor Day weekend. On the positive side we were close to restaurants and stores. The house was okay and very close to the beach. The swimming pool was the big draw. Beautiful and framed by palm trees.

We had a blast! Steps from the beach, we’ll-stocked rental. The backyard pool and dog-space was exceptional. The house was absolutely spotless, which is impressive given that it is pet-friendly. Rental company was responsive to maintenance concerns. Elevator was not working during our stay, but company communicated issues ahead of rental. Would 10/10 recommend.

Super cute house with an easy walk to the beach

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We truly enjoyed this house. It’s perfect for a larger family. The pool was lovely. Having the fenced in backyard was a luxury for a beach vacation with your dogs. The house is close to so many things, restaurants, ice cream and grocery stores. Most of all close to the beach! A quick walk across the street to the public access with parking (we didn’t use it) and there were not any steps to reach the beach!! A huge plus with several little kids in tow. One downside is that area of the beach has the storm drain so it’s recommended not to swim within 200 feet. Kitchen is well stocked, sharp knives, awful frying pans but that’s expected. The pool area seriously feels like a beach oasis with palm trees and rose bushes. It’s very pretty back there. There is fence and secure gate around the pool to keep little ones out. The house is very cute with all its dog decorations and the master bath on the top level is huge with double shower heads. We would definitely stay at this house again.

We liked it!

Easy beach access, nice pool and hot tub. Well maintained and heated pool a plus! Some decks and railings need to be replaced/stabilized in very near future. We had a good time and really liked it! Loved the extra play space for the dog! Yard had no THORNS which is a huge plus so very pet friendly!

Fun family pre Christmas get away.

Spacious bedrooms and having the elevator was very helpful for my elderly father. The house does need some TLC. I sent a list of items to the realty. Hopefully repairs/replacements will be done but I see from previous reviews that some of these items have been ongoing issues. The internet is terrible so it cannot be relied upon if you need to work while at the house. The cleaning staff needs to do a better job cleaning the floors. I understand it is a dog friendly house but there was excessive dog hair on the main floor when we arrived. Otherwise we had a great week. It's a fun house that's great for all ages. The teens loved the volleyball net! The owner has gone to great lengths with the dog decorations. So unique!

Appliances outdated, kitchen poorly stocked with utensils, filters on the wall caked with dirt, pool was dirty, took 3 days to repair a loud grinding refrigerator freezer moter. Matresses lumpy. Only two deck chairs. Overall the house has been poorly maintained and highly overpriced.

Generally clean in the cottage. The place is dog friendly so I know it can get dirty but whomever stayed before had a fluffy dog, there were some bits of fluff left upstairs. My only concern was the chlorine in the hot tub was a little intense and broke my husband out. The pool could have been cleaner. Would stay here again.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house has soo much potential. Great spot! Fun pool! But somewhere someone let this one go downhill.The carpets & sofa were wet when we arrived, we assumed they had been cleaned? But neither never really dried. The mold in the showers, the a/c were black vents and the overall cleanliness was gross. I am not sure if it was the owners or the realty company that missed this one. There was no vent for the stove so if any smoke or steam happened there was no way to get rid of it. The large picture on the stairwell had a broken frame with nails sticking out, a HUGE danger to small children since it was at their eye level. There was a hole in the wall from a previous guest. The pool has broken tiles, the high chair was broken and unusable, and the tv connection to hulu was very spotty. I called and reported all of this and was told a repairman would be out to fix the broken things. No one ever showed up.

Sprinklers came on at very weird times, i.e 4pm-6pm. Couldn't enjoy back yard. More utensils for cooking would be great. Grass clippings in pool-would look for a new pool maintenance company or new ground crew.

Family vacation 2022

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at Happy Dog Days last year and had such a great time I reserved it for this year. A great home floor plan and great yard. Across the street from beach. This year when we arrived the pool was dirty and had to wipe down the table and counter. Not the owners fault, I have heard they have some house prep problems this year with getting people to work. People working rushing trying to keep up. Overall, a nice home and near alot to do.

Happy Dog Days May 2022

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Check-in was stated as 4-6, but the house was not ready until closer to 6. A 4 o’clock check-in would have been preferred. Check-in/check-out are very convenient, with the keypad locks. Not having to go to a rental office is great. The house had some wear and tear, but nothing objectionable. The layout is nice. The backyard is great for anyone traveling with a dog. The only real problem was the TV/Internet service. The internet was terrible. We had to reset the router multiple times per day. This wouldn’t have been disruptive if the house had cable TV service, but it was streaming only. Even when the internet was working, it was so slow that the TV spent as much time buffering as playing. So, the TV experience was terrible and everything else was good. If the TV situation was corrected, I would recommend to a friend.

Very nice house; terrible DSL internet

When you’re steaming for TV bad quality. I would give 5 stars if not for internet.
