Full kitchen - Stove with oven & full size refridge, toaster, blender.
All utensils.
2 double beds.
Ceiling and standing fans. NO A/C

The space
Right on the beach in a quiet neighborhood in the heart of Placencia Village.
Lovely beach for swimming, sunning and relaxing in the hammocks and loungers.

There is a sidewalk (Westby Sidewalk) all the way from the road to the cottage - handy for walking to the main sidwalk and road and transporting luggage.

Away from the noise of the road.

No noisy bars nearby - very close walking distance but far enough away for peace and quiet at night.

The cottage, yard and beach.
I will do occasional laundry for guests that ask, weather permitting. (Line dry only)

Self catering, no maid service.
Linens exchanged weekly or when you ask for them. (No less than 4 days sheets, 3 days towels. 7 days if monthly)

If you are taking excursions(snorkeling, Monkey River etc.) be sure to bring your own towel.

You don't need a lot of luggage to enjoy Placencia.
Simple beachwear with coverup and casual clothing is acceptable everywhere.
Most foodstuffs and other things that might weigh you down at the airport are available in Placencia these days. i.e. Special snacks, treats, sunscreen, aloe, shampoo etc. They may be a little more expensive here but if you want to travel light it is possible to purchase most everything here nowadays.
There is a complete pharmacy for OTC and prescription meds etc.

NOTE! No towels or utensils to leave the property. If you are taking excursions(snorkeling, Monkey River etc.) be sure to bring your own towel.

We really enjoyed staying in the cottage! It was very cute and very conveniently located. The beach was great and we especially enjoyed that the cabin included hammocks and places to set them up eother on the porch or out nearer to the beach!

Miss Kay's cottage is wonderful, as is Miss Kay herself! Perfect location on the most beautiful beach, and an easy 5 minute walk to a dozen good bars and restaurants. I stayed for 3 peaceful and relaxing weeks, reading books on the porch, swimming, kayaking, walking, snoozing in a hammock. Picture-perfect vacation!

Investment shopping

My wife and I stayed in one of the cottages while viewing potential real estate deals. All communications were excellent leading up to and during the visit. Because we were visiting as Hurricane Beryl was forming the staff gave us there local view on what was coming so we could make decisions as we were moving on next to Ambergris Caye. A lot of restaurants and locals sales booths within walking distance. A lot of opportunity to interact with the locals which is what we wanted. Would definitely stay there again.

Went here during july and we enjoyed our visit here. Few steps to the beach, kyaks available, sperated property so you dont have to worry about people above or below you. Peaceful area as its away from the main road Right in the heart of Placencia so your not too far of a walk from any particular place Host was quick with responding and offered help whenever ypu needed it The neighbors whom are locals are also around and available to help. One thing about the property is tgat there is no AC. We didn’t mind as there was fans and a good ocean breeze that kept us cool but worth knowing before you arrive. Other than that great experience and location!

I have lived in Belize since 1985, in Placencia since 1987, operating Coconut Cottage since 1994.

The original cottage was built in 1994 to accommodate my late husbands fly fishing clients.
Joel was a world renowned fly-fishing guide who died in 1996.

The original Coconut Cottage left with Hurricane Iris in October of 2001. The new cottages were rebuilt and I reopened for business in March 2002. There is just one for rent as I live in the other with my cat BabyB.

Although there have been many changes in Placencia over the years it is my home and I am rooted here and closely connected to my Belizean family, the Westbys.

Living on the premises creates the safest environment for my guests.
I am always available to my guests.
If I am not here there is another family member available.

I invite you to come visit and enjoy beautiful Placencia Village.
