On The Beach Bungalows - Flip Flop #1

Enjoy a true Belizean bungalow experience at “On the Beach,” in Maya Beach, Placencia, Belize. If you want to escape crowds, this is the place. Located at Mile Marker 15.75, Placencia Peninsula, Stann Creek District, 8 miles north of Placencia Village and 6 miles north of the Placencia airstrip.

Private bungalows with 170’ of oceanfront beach. Each newly remodeled bungalow includes a queen-size bed, sofa, living/dining area, covered front deck, and well-equipped kitchen. We offer kayaks, bicycles, a private pier, and WiFi. Pools, bars, and restaurants are within walking distance.

Enjoy birds and wildlife. Snorkel off the shore near the coral reef 100 feet from your private pier with a crow’s nest lookout. Kayak to False Caye, walk to local bars and restaurants, or relax in your hammock overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

Bungalows accommodate 2 people. Kitchens have a full-size fridge, 2-burner stove, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, blender, and utensils.

To get here, fly from Belize International (BZE) to Placencia (PLJ) via Maya Island Air or Tropic Air. Auto and golf cart rentals are available in Placencia. Alternatively, rent a car at Belize International Airport and drive via Hummingbird Highway (3½ hours) or Coastal Highway (2 hours). Transportation is recommended.

place was amazing. better than described. Marc was an awesome host. our flight was delayed 3 days due to snow. You Better Belizeit!

Our bungalow was perfect for us. Everything we needed, and the bed was amazingly comfortable and the pillows. Also loved the shower. Mark was so helpful with anything you needed! He is still working on making it even better with having bikes available and maybe even corn hole!! (our suggestion).

A little piece of heaven

What an amazing oasis right on the beach! The breeze is constant off the Caribbean Sea so you absolutely do not need air conditioning!!! Supplies and restaurants are within walking distance. We had a car and enjoyed traveling to Placencia. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here!!!

Peaceful, secluded, clean.

What a great birthday present for my husband's birthday. Everything was great while we were in Maya Beach. The bungalow had everything we needed (especially the coolers to keep the beer cold). Tom hooked up with a golf cart the 2nd day so we could tool around the peninsula. They were great hosts. Didn't see or hear from them much unless we radioed them :) Loved having a beach & dock all to our selfs. What a simple world Maya Beach is. No rush, lots of smiles, friendly people that all know english. We will be back some day! Not soon enough. Thanks Adrianne & Bill for the best holiday vacation!

Paradise Found

Barnacle Bill's is a little slice of paradise. Simple, well considered accommodation in a wonderful setting on the shores of the beautiful Caribbean Sea. Bill and Adrianne were the perfect hosts, helpful but not intrusive and accommodating to the needs of my 10 year old daughter and 80 year old father, both of whom thoroughly enjoyed their holiday. Placencia is a great place; friendly people, beautiful scenery and lots to do - without being overly touristy. We shall return.

Unplugged and relaxed...... it was amazing...

If you are looking to unplug, relax and just enjoy your surroundings, this is the perfect spot. Bill and Adriane were great hosts! They got us pointed in the right direction for a snorkeling tour and suggested local restaurants to visit. The bungalows are just as described, they have everything you need. We stayed a week and had plenty of towels, beach towels, linens etc. We were a little concerned about no air conditioning but it was not an issue. There is always a breeze from the ocean; with two ceiling fans and a floor fan we were comfortable. The local restaurants and general store are all just a short walk away. We were able to snorkel right at our beach and also at an island that took us about 20-30 minutes to kayak to from our beach. We are already talking about when we go back!

Bungalow with tropical flavor steps from the water

Location was great. Bungalows were clean and comfortable. No A/C but we didn't find it necessary. Only negative was the beach grass making swimming off the beach difficult, but this problem is universal all over the island. Great restaurants within walking distance and fortunately we had a car to go on several excursions.. Bill and Adriane were very helpful. We would stay here again.

The Bungalow we rented hit the spot and was just what we wanted for a quiet getaway.

Barnacle Bills was a great escape from the US, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the plants that are left on this lot versus other areas we noticed nearby that are cleared completely. It leaves you with the feeling you're in the jungle but on the coast. There were not many places in the area like this that are stripped of native plants and trees. Furthermore, Bill and Adrianes hospitality was wonderful. I would definitely consider coming back but as first time to Belize this was fabulous!

Sun, fun, and rum!

This was our second time staying at the bungalows and we had another amazing vacation. The bungalows are well stocked and clean and located right near the water on your own private beach. There are bikes, kayaks and snorkel equipment free to use. Bill and Adriane, the owners, live right across the street,there is a walkie talkie provided if you need their assistance with anything. The location is perfect, it's quiet and close to a few markets and restaurants. We recommend the Hungry Gecko for inexpensive yet yummy food. We also like the Maya Beach Bistro for a little more upscale dining. We did a few day trips that were great including Monkey river tour, snorkeling at Silk Caye, and fun in the sun on Ranguana Caye. We can't wait to return!

great holiday

We had a great stay at this amazing location . The cabana is very clean and well maintained. Bill came around every morning to see how things were and answered our questions and helped us with making car rental arrangements and suggestions of locations to visit. Snorkeling right off the beach was great with lots of fish and vibrant corral. Lots of nice restaurants within walking distance and a grocery store a short walk away. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, clean place to stay i would like to highly recommend

Great Place to stay

This is a great place to stay if you ant peace and quite. The bungalow met all our expectations and needs. Great location, clean, everything worked, everything you need along with kayaks and bikes. Easy walking to a number of good restaurants. Rent a car and drive from Beliz City. One is needed to get round. The weather could have been better but it forced us see more of Belize. Go to the Xunantunich Maya ruins. Long drive but worth it. Be sure to go to the Barefoot bar in Placencia. If it’s lobster season have their grilled cheese an lobster sandwich. This not the place to go to if you expected someone to wait on you. Definetly looking forward to coming back.

Great

We have stayed in 5 different places in Belize over the years , this is by FAR the best. Most convenient, good value, and fun. They supply Kayaks and Bikes. Skin diving is amazzing right off the beach where the Bungalows reside. Highly recommended. Clean with cooking material supplied. Just a great place.

The perfect, quiet get-away!

Barnacle Bills was EXACTLY what we needed! Private, sandy beachfront with palm trees and clear, blue ocean tide with beautiful sunrises. My husband and I loved that we could walk up the road to the local market and buy goods to cook back at the bungalow (lots of fridge space) and when we didn't feel like cooking or grilling, we could take a short walk down the beach to the local bars and restaurants. The bungalows are more spacious than you think! Ocean breeze keeps them cool. Great for couples - plus, Bill and Adriane took such good care of us. They know the locals and even picked us up/dropped us off from the airport. Felt so secluded - no kids screaming on water slides or college students partying, just a wide variety of birds, animals and good conversations with the hubby!

Wonderful property

My husband and I loved this property. The kitchen was well equipped and we made most of our meals here. The deck is shaded and makes for nice relaxing. The best part for us was the kayaks and bike available to us. We snorkelled to an island nearby and loved it. We would highly recommend this property.
