Moondance - Contemporary Riverfront Home
Moondance is a contemporary take on a traditional river home. Like Van Morrison said, “… it's a marvelous night for a moondance,” and this is the place to do it! Take in the river views in daylight and the starry skies at night! From the back deck hot tub or dining table, absorb the serenity of river living. Or head to the basement recreation room for ping-pong, pool, air hockey, or foosball. Challenge your traveling companions to an Xbox tourney or kick back and watch a movie on the 104-inch projection screen. Summer brings extra fun with a seasonal dock and boats. A moonlight paddle? A fishing trip? Simply floating with the ducks? It’s up to you!
A full kitchen and comfortable dining (inside and out) and seating areas may lead to cooking with fantastic ingredients from farmers markets and locally focused stores. Enjoy tech-savvy updates like asking Alexa to turn on lights or music for your meals. be ready for a good night’s rest in any of the three bedrooms with Queen beds. The master suite and living room both open to the back deck for morning caffeine or for one more breath of fresh air before bed.
Walk to downtown Monte Rio for snacks, Fern’s Pizza, Monte Rio Public Beach, and the revamped Rio Movie Theater. You’re a short drive to the coast, vineyards and wine tasting, and towering redwood trees. The towns of Occidental and Duncan’s Mills are minutes away and offer excellent dining, antiques, local art, unique shopping, and other adventures such as ziplines.
Know Before You Book:
Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Moondance is 6 people not including kids under 3 years old. Quiet hours are from 9:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at all times.
A Note About Our Cleaning Fees: Thank you for supporting our local business! When you stay with us, you are supporting local families at work. We think everyone deserves a decent living wage, and we make sure to set the rates and fees so that our cleaners and employees earn a living wage in beautiful Sonoma County. The cleaning fee goes directly to the cleaners and inspectors for their hard work in making sure our guests have a wonderful and welcoming space to call home for their stay.
Parking: There is parking for a maximum of 3 moderate or 2 larger vehicles. The garage is for storage only. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.
Bed Sizes: Master bedroom (downstairs): Queen bed; second bedroom (upstairs): Queen bed; third bedroom (upstairs): Queen bed.
Heat Source: Central heat with Nest thermostat and gas fireplace in the living room.
Rec/Game Room: The game room is an unheated, uninsulated space. Temperature varies throughout the year.
Location: Moondance is in a cozy residential neighborhood. It is a mix of permanent residents and vacation rentals, families, working folks, and visitors. To honor this balance, we ask guests to park in the driveway and designated spots across the street and respect the quiet hours in addition to general family-friendly, residential neighborhood expectations. Thank you for helping to continue the tradition of a mutually beneficial relationship between vacation rentals and local community!
Stairs: There is a flight of stairs (16 steps) from the ground level to the front door and another from the back deck to the backyard. An additional short flight of stairs leads from the backyard into the rec room. When the seasonal boats and dock are available there is a longer set of stairs to the river.
Pet Friendly: Up to 2 well-mannered dogs are welcome! The front yard is fully fenced, but the back yard is not. The back deck has a gate before the stairs to the yard. Water bowl provided.
Fencing: The front yard – facing the road – is fully fenced, but the backyard is not. The back deck has a gate at the top of the stairs.
Work from HERE: There is an office desk with a chair and monitor in the recreation room.
Advertised Wifi Speed: 400 mbps via Xfinity
TVs: There is a Smart TV in the living room and flatscreen TVs in each bedroom. YouTubeTV streaming service via AmazonFireTV devices is your gateway to local news, sports, shows, and 85 other entertainment and sports channels. Netflix and Amazon Video are also available for movies and other content for free. No passwords or cable needed.
Additional Amenities:
Recreation Room: There are exterior (only) stairs to the rec room. There is a combo air hockey/ping-pong/pool table, corn hole, and 104-inch screen and projector with Xbox for playing games and watching movies. There’s also a workstation with a desk, monitor, and office chair. The rec room is not heated.
Backyard seating and gas firepit: In especially wet winters, these may be put away.
Common Amenities not included:
This home does not have Air Conditioning, but all bedrooms have window fans and the upstairs bedrooms have ceiling fans. Windows have screens. The recreation room is an excellent spot to cool off in hot weather.
Moondance does not offer Cable TV – please see the note about TVs above.
Docks, Boats, and River Access: These are seasonal amenities and only available when conditions allow. Expect docks, boats, and river access when the summer dams are in (mid-June to mid- September). Conditions vary from year to year and can change rapidly – use your best judgement to determine your risk level and comfort in the water/physical activity. The dock is generally available June through the end of September – conditions permitting. There are 2 kayaks and a canoe locked at the dock, when available, and stairs to the river dock from the backyard.
Proximity to wineries: Westside Road – with dozens of world class wineries – is 9.9 miles, but the closest tasting rooms are in Duncan’s Mills (3.9 mi), downtown Guerneville (4.5 miles), and Korbel (7.3 mi).
Nearest River Beach: The Monte Rio Public Beach is walking distance (0.4 mi) and open to the public year-round. Concession stands and boat rentals are available in the summer only. The down-river side of the beach is dog friendly when the concessions are in.
Nearest Ocean Beach: The coastal beaches in Jenner are 8.6 mi.
