Recently renovated, Thimbleberry Castle House provides a unique space for family and group gatherings. Situated within an easy walk to great trails , this secluded location offers walks along the Lake Michigan beach and on wooded paths. The lakefront is definitely beautiful and no doubt better for viewing than swimming on the rocky beach. There are two sandy beaches within two miles of our property - in Baileys Harbor and in Jacksonport -and there are others spread throughout the county. Pets ok.

This home and property is absolutely gorgeous! Nothing was lacking, every room was just as beautiful as the next. The game room was a bonus and super fun to find. A definite recommend.

The Castle House was fantastic for our 16 person group! There was plenty of space for everyone to gather both inside and outside. The proximity to the lake was amazing! The cleanliness and attention to detail was great! This VRBO was the perfect place to gather and create memories! We will definitely be back!

Family getaway

Such a beautiful property. Newly updated with stunning decor and attention to detail. Only thing i would change is some updated outdoor furniture. Other than that, no complaints! We will be back for sure!

Perfect home for a large group

With ample bedrooms, bathrooms, eating and gathering areas, this home was perfect for our family of 16. The outdoor space was nice also, with a lovely view of the lake. It is close to beaches and the neighboring towns. We took advantage of kayaking and pontoon rentals in the area. We could also fish and swim from the rocky beach behind the house. I highly recommend it, and we would rent it again if we were in the area.

Spacious Lakeside Home

This property provided our twelve member family generous space indoors and out for conversation and relaxation. The kitchen and dining areas allowed us to prepare and enjoy our meals together. Its proximity to the attractions of Door County yet offered a quiet setting away from the hustle and bustle of those tourist areas.

Beautiful Stay for Family Reunion

This property was an absolute treasure for our family reunion trip. There was something for everyone from baby to senior with accessibility needs. The amenities were second to none and we appreciated the nice touches like coffee filters, a fresh sponge, nice soaps, etc. So much space for all us to enjoy and retreat to if we needed a break from the crowd. Very clean! A great central location on the peninsula!

We enjoyed the atmosphere of the castle. The kitchen was graciously stocked with dishes and utensils. Location to all that Door county has to offer was great. It was fun looking for the pool table, the sauna was nice. Fire pit area was very nice and the pancake mix was a special surprise. It easily accommodated our family. A lounge chair would have been nice. Judy

Property was castle-like. Everything was top notch. Extremely well stocked. Room for all 15 of us! Pool table was great fun. Beautiful surroundings, very private and secluded. No beach but on the rocky shore of Lake Michigan. Be aware this is not a lake house. You will need to drive to a beach or state park for beach or bike riding.

Castle House is great

Had a bunch of old friends get together for a fall weekend of golf and Packers game. We couldn't have been happier with our stay. Very comfortable house for a large group, very clean and perfect location which was close to everything yet private. Host made check in a breeze. Definitely would recommend and would stay again.

It's Called The Castle For a Reason

Can't say enough about this place. We enjoyed staying here. We did spend a lot of time at the touristy towns on the Bay side but enjoyed being on the lake side for seclusion and traffic reasons. Bay side is only 15 mins away.

Family getaway

We truly enjoyed our stay at the castle! We have been vacationing in Door County for many years. We loved the location of the property, close to towns and other activities. The kitchen area was a great size along with seating for ten! We loved the fireplace and being able to look out over Lake Michigan. The family area and ample bedrooms gave us plenty of room to spend time together.

Very roomy. There was a perfect number of bedrooms and bathrooms for our large family. Loved the kitchen area and eating space. Landscaping and grounds need to be tidied up though. Please provide firewood for future guests.

Beautiful home right on Lake Michigan

We had the perfect weekend in this very lovely, comfortable and roomy home that accommodated our group of various ages. Great kitchen with plenty of dining space. Nice array of bedrooms and baths. Various cozy rooms for people to gather . The sauna was most enjoyable addition . Beautiful setting on shore of Lake Michigan with a yard that all enjoyed. Overal, terrific experience, and can’t wait to return.

Door County getaway

The Castle was an absolutely gorgeous place! It is so spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. There were 9 of us total and the Castle gave us all plenty of personnel space and shared space! Being right on Lake Michigan made for gorgeous sunrises and some fun exploring-the shoreline is very rocky which can be hard to navigate if you have mobility issues. Location is just a short drive to explore all that Door County offers! We will definitely be back to Door County and will book the Castle again!

Amazing Castle in Door County

We had a truly wonderful stay at the Castle House in Bailey's Harbor. The house is gorgeous and was perfect for our large extended family. The kitchen is huge and well appointed. Plenty of space for family dinners and hanging out. The bedrooms, beds and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. We loved that the house was located on the lake, but was secluded yet close to all activities in Door County. The night sky was very dark and clear. We enjoyed exploring the rocky beach and walking on the hiking trail nearby. Check in was easy and owner is very responsive. Highly recommend the Castle House!

My extended family was impressed by the house size, style, location, and layout – being on the coastline of Lake Michigan being a huge bonus. It is large enough for each family member to gather in one spot as well as seek more solitude in one corner of the house (there is even a hidden room). There were minor problems, such as, burnt out lights, poor condition of some lounge cushions, and the sauna did not work. Be forewarned, however, that there is no cell phone coverage (we had three different service providers - only one person out of 12 had intermittent coverage). We also lacked WiFi service for 3 out of our 4 days stay. The WiFi provider took several days to return service after a 1-day power outage (due to a severe storm). We had to drive to Bailey's Harbor each day to communicate (text/talk) on our cell phones. On the plus side - there is a Generac Generator, but it only provided about 1/3rd of the power that the house needed (refrigerator A/C, some lights) during the power outage. I did not use the power outage and subsequent loss of WiFi in my rating since the power outage and storm was not a normal circumstance. Thus, in a normal day you could use the WiFi to connect your cell phone with the outside world.

Lovely home and a fun family vacation.

We really enjoyed our stay at this private, clean, beautiful home. Some highlights – the number of king bedrooms, 3 of which had an en suite, the sauna, the game room with a pool table, the steam shower, two refrigerators, and two large tables in the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen was large and accommodated several cooks at the same time. While our experience overall was very positive and we had a great time, there were a few things that could have made it even better. The number of towels in the bathrooms was lacking, especially hand towels and washcloths. The exterior areas were not as well maintained as the house itself. The lounge chairs near the water were not usable. We did enjoy sitting outside on the patio and grilling several days. The owner was very responsive and accommodating.
