At Sportsman's Motel & Resort, we believe in creating memories and traditions, that will last for generations. Just outside, you can fish the Class A Musky Lake, hike or bike incredible local trails, jump on nearby snowmobile trails, or grab dinner at an authentic supper club. OR maybe, you just want to hunker in and enjoy the refreshed space inside! Since 1956, we have been welcoming folks like you, so they can create their own Northwoods memories and traditions! What will yours be?

The Hoot-Nanny, the place for friends and families! This unit comes fully equipped with a kitchenette, dining area, living area, complete bedroom with a queen bed and full bathroom! And the best part, the entire unit was completely remodeled and refreshed in 2022! Bringing you a vintage motel, with all the modern amenities!

In the kitchenette, you will find brand new appliances, including a stove, full size fridge, microwave, and coffee maker! Plenty of space, and utensils, to stay in for dinner...or fry up some freshly caught fish!

As you shift to the living area, you will find something for everyone! A dining table under an oversized window with full lake views, of course for eating meals, but maybe some card games too?! There's also a mounted TV, WIFI, and a cozy afghan to snuggle in on the couch for a good movie, or book!

To finish off the inside, there is a complete bedroom with a queen size bed and views of the lake! There is also a full bathroom inside this unit, that has been completely gutted to make it more beautiful, clean, and functional.

Outside is an outdoorsmen's dream! On this South Turtle Lake property, there is a dock, two rowboats, picnic tables, a full blown fish cleaning station, AND a shared firepit for those starry nights! If that isn't enough to fill your vacation full...just down the road, you can find hiking/biking trails, cross-country ski trails, snowshoeing trails, snowmobile trails, the Manitowish Waters 10-Lake Chain, and many local shops and restaurants!

Each of the 5 units at Sportsman's can be booked individually, or all together, for our larger groups and events. You can rent the entire space on The Sportsman's Resort listing. Please reach out if that is of interest to you.

Our guests can use their designated unit, as well as any of the shared spaces on the Sportsman’s property! Including, but not limited to, the fish cleaning station, dock, picnic tables, and firepit.

Disappointed.

My family was looking forward to our annual stay at the motel for deer hunting weekend. We have stayed at this same motel, in the same rooms for over 20 years. The other motel rooms were usually filled with other regulars for this weekend. The driveway and parking area was not plowed of snow when we arrived but we made due shoveling out spaces for our cars and also in front of the other room entrances as we awaited other guests. (your welcome). There were no other guests for the weekend. This surprised us as there was usually no vacancy. Our regular rooms were really upgraded by the new owners. A&E really did a great job with the motel, except having someone else manage it. I didn't have issue with the cost being over double what it had been. Perhaps the other regulars did. The former owners stayed in the house next to the motel and were helpful with any questions or concerns. Trying to get anyone to help me through Vacasa's help/guest support number was disappointing because I could never speak with a live person. I will miss our annual tradition.

Vintage Charm Plus a Kitchenette!!

I was in Winchester with my daughter, (17), last weekend and we're still talking about Sportsmans. It is so dang cool. We were totally charmed by all the little details that give this (newly renovated) place a completely authentic vintage vibe... the decor, the furniture, afghans, the fridge alone sent me into a little retro frenzy... PLUS a good shower (bathrooms super clean), a cushy sofa, an actual stove, and unobstructed views of Turtle Lake. After forcing ourselves to leave the Wisconsin time-warp that is The Hoot-Nanny, we bopped over to Win-Man Trails (maybe a 5 minute drive) to check out the xc ski trails and wound up sitting around the outdoor fire pit at dusk chatting with some semi-locals. Afterwards, we drove another 5 minutes to sit in a sauna and hot tub at Manitowish Waters Athletic Club (day rates!!), only to wind up at Aberdeen for dinner (where I had a seriously amazing ribeye steak), and then back to Sportsmans for a sleep. I got up early to watch birds out the window and saw a 9" Hairy Woodpecker at the feeder. After leisurely coffee we left the room (again, reluctantly!!) to snowmobile on the lake. (The whole area is a snowmobilers shangri-la.) So. Gorgeous. Already made plans to go up for her 18th b-day with some friends and we plan on doing everything or nothing. Loved it so much.

This rehabbed motel was so quaint. We loved our rental!! Very convenient to WinMan trails and close to town and restaurants. So clean and perfect in my eyes!!

Northwoods getaway.

Location, cleanliness, and comfort. I hate to say it, but awesome place for regular folks to getaway. Fantastic MTB bike park just down the road.

Lovingly restored classic motel

We loved our stay on South Turtle Lake at this charming and lovingly restored motel. There are five connecting units, all with kitchens and full bathrooms. Ours, the Hoot Nanny, was a one bedroom unit and the biggest available. We were very comfortable with our two kids who loved the dock, the water, the rowboat and the campfire pit.

Gorgeous, peaceful Northwoods vacation!!

What an amazing place to stay! The owners have remolded and updated ALL the units in this vintage motel that sits right on the shoreline! What a beautiful, quiet lake to swim, fish, and boat in. I also love the fact that you have your own kitchenette since I have severe food allergies and like to prep my own food. I should have planned to stay longer to enjoy all the meticulously maintained local trails for biking and running/hiking!
