Hacienda del Mar can potentially accommodate up to 24 guests in the optional 7 suites. All suites, apart from the kids bunk room, have on suite bathrooms which elevates the experience while vacationing with friends or family.
A perfect venue for weddings (hosted11 so far), family reunions, or just a bunch of amigos to come together for kite boarding, windsurfing, fishing, or to simply chill under your private palapa bar and the amazing spa / infinity pool.

The Hacienda is only 2 blocks from the best bars, restaurants, markets, and shops making renting a car unnecessary. However, renting our new 2 person Honda ATV’s or 5 person Polaris side x side makes running errands and exploring the beaches way more fun.
We are proud to offer Catering and in home Chef which is perfect for arrival night after a long day of travel. Please, If you do not choose our Chef please get permission to use an outside person as several have been banned from our property for various reasons.
Hacienda del Mar is about an hour northeast of San Jose del Cabo airport, making a perfect get away from the Cabo crowds. We offer airport transfers in our private 15 passenger shuttles for a seamless trip to paradise.
Upon arrival relax outside on the patio with a cold drink watching whales, Dolphins and manta-rays that jump out of the water and flop back down. If the wind is up, watch the kite boarders and windsurfers that launch right in front of the house. The outside area offers multiple places to hang-out including your own private Palapa bar overlooking the beach and Sea of Cortez. The house also offers a huge outdoor Palapa room with a 90' built-in couch, dining tables and chairs, a wet bar, a sink, a 3rd stove/oven, and refrigerator, where you can sit back, read a book, eat, play games and still see everything going on at the beach and on the water. Move chairs to the interior courtyard and be soothed by the water fountain and watch the birds as they come in for a drink.
The Sea of Cortez is east facing, making for amazing sunrises. In the back, through the courtyard, the sunsets over the Sierra la Laguna Mountains are just as spectacular.
Looking for the right spot for your wedding on the beach? Look no further -- you and your guests will have plenty of room to enjoy your special day! Move the tables out of the Palapa room (approximately 1,500 square feet) and you have an instant dance floor.

My first visit to Los Barriles was in 1979. I rented a motor home hooked up my 24’ Skipjack sport fisher and headed from Coronado, CA to points unknown with my wife Terri, & 2 kids who were 4 & 2. We had no itinerary and 3 months to kill so off we went for an adventure that would change our lives forever.
First stop, Mulege 7.5 hours north of Los Barriles. Stayed for a week, fished, played, and had fun in Bahia Conception. Next stop Loreto area specifically Puerto Escondido. Stayed 4 days and off we went (not impressed). Next stop La Paz gross, just a big city no charm.
Next stop Los Barriles. We looked at each other and said this is it. Heaven on earth! Found a camp spot right on the beach at the now famous Martin Verdugos Motel & Camping resort. We never moved another inch. We came back every year until 1992 when we were on our way down driving with our last load of building materials to finish our new home when a bus hit our utility trailer causing us to jackknife and roll over. The accident resulted in a spinal cord injury for me and just 3 stitches for my wife. Since then, as a Quadriplegic, designer and builder, I have finished 12 luxury high-end homes including our newest casa and guest Villa, “Villa Tranquillo”.
We welcome you to our “Little slice of heaven” and hope you find it as magical as we do!
In 2007 I started Los Cabos Adventures which is a sportfishing and whale watching charter corporation. We have designed and custom outfitted Mexico's only completely wheelchair accessible sport-fisher.
I now live in the main Villa from October through July. Spending the summers traveling in the high sierras north of Truckee, CA.
My kids are now 45 and 47. We now have 5 grandchildren so the love of Los Barilles will continue throughout our next generations.

I knew they would fall in love with the community, the beaches, and the Sea of Cortez. They loved it so much they began purchasing as much beach front property that was available.
They first went in with 2 friends and built all together on one lot. When they outgrew that situation he purchased Hacienda del Mar which then was owned by one of the Bartels and James wine cooler founders. He proceeded to turn the 1,200 sq ft, 2 bedroom, 2 bath beach house into a 7,000 sq ft 4 bedroom 4 bath Hacienda.
He designed it and contracted it himself using a forward thinking, green, recycled building product called 'In-Steel Panels'. Extremely popular today for its earthquake strength, ER values, and constructed from renewable materials.
He always referred to it as 'his work of art' which is why I have restored it to better than it's original condition updating cabinets doors, furnishings and custom amenities, 2 more suites and an infinity pool with a giant spa. My sisters wanted to sell it, but I could not 'let his work of art go'
Instead, it is up to date and ready for your enjoyment.

We also rent our Honda 2-seater quads for a very affordable weekly rate. We also have our 5-seater 4X4 Polaris side by side.
