Cassio’s Cottage - A private, cozy little place under PoCo’s dark skies

Take a break from the noise in this comfy, clean and quiet cottage! An old hunting camp turned family retreat, but great for couples or even just a get away for one. People love its peaceful location, with very few neighbors, but also that it’s easy to get to and centrally located. Potter County Stargazing Tours is just a minute drive down the road, the Golf Club is 7 minutes away with Gary's Mini Golf/Zip Line and Jiffy Pup just down the road from there. Drive 10 minutes to downtown Coudy for shopping, dinner, a movie, or swimming at the town pool. It’s about 15 minutes to Patterson and Cherry Springs State Parks, 30 to both Sizerville and Lyman Run, an hour to both PA Grand Canyon and Kinzua Bridge or stay nearby and ride the ATV/snowmobile trail that's at the end of the driveway (see last two photos). It's a great area to cross country ski in winter as well. If you venture out all day, get toasty around the fire pit at night, sit in the Adirondack chairs or lay back in one of the “antigravity” recliners to look up and marvel at all the stars you’ll see in our dark skies. The space is not too big, not too small…perfect for feeling “together” on your getaway, but still have some space to yourself. It’s on 6 acres of land that you’re welcome to explore if you’d like. There are lots of games to play indoors as well as puzzles and books for all ages, a Roku TV with free movies and apps to sign in on. Outside you can play volleyball, badminton, tetherball, croquet or wiffleball and we just added a Nok Hockey board. Kitchen is fully stocked with anything you need to cook and prep food. The fridge will be clean and (mostly) empty for you to fill with whatever groceries you want to bring. There is a security camera in the mudroom directed at the screen door and driveway just to notify us of trespassers when the cottage is not booked and to let us know when/if our guests arrive. ATTENTION ONE NIGHT REQUESTS: If interested in booking just one night, check availability using a two night search and please send a message…depending on what night it is, we may be able to accommodate you!

The cottage is darling, with everything imaginable that you could need. Comfortable beds and furniture, a well stocked kitchen, Roku tv, games (for indoors and outdoors), a fire pit (with wood available), bbq grill, and chairs for viewing the dark skies. All this just a short drive from town, with a field full of cows as neighbors. Angela is a premier host with excellent communication, providing many amenities that make this feel like home away from home.

The host was very accommodating, the cottage was super well furnished with provisions for cooking, bathing, sleeping. Lots of books, games, puzzles etc to pass the time. I highly recommend Cassio's Cottage!!

Weekend getaway

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a short weekend get away and it was perfect! We loved the secluded feel! Unfortunately I picked a terrible weekend for star gazing however we still had an amazing time!

A Perfect Escape

Our stay at Cassio Cottage was lovely. Thecottage and property were very clean and well maintained. The cottage had so many nice details and activities that made it a perfect getaway for our family. We especially loved the outdoor games, fire pit and wide selection of board games. The view of the stars at night was amazing, too. It was a great got away to spend time together as a family. Thanks for a great stay!

Relaxing and secluded

Great secluded place to stay and relax. Check-in process was simple and the place is stocked with everything you would need. The huge yard is a great bonus and you can literally choose to just sit there and have coffee, breakfast, or play some sports. Good experience!!

Cassio’s Cottage had all the things you’d expect from a lil’ VRBO spot in the woods. On top of the necessities it has a seemingly endless supply of fun games and activities to explore. From archery and swings to a LOVELY hammock and a surplus of board games, you could spend YEARS here before running out of things to do. Not even mentioning the stars.

A nice place for a family getaway

I stayed here for some star gazing under the dark skies. I enjoyed it so much, I brought the entire family back. The host is very friendly and answers any questions quickly. The place is cozy and feels like home - there were five of us and it was just the right size. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend Cassio’s Cottage to our friends.

I’m originally from “the home of Little League,” Williamsport, Pennsylvania. My family moved to Coudersport in 2006. We love the peacefulness of the area, the lack of traffic, the kindness of the people in town and being part of a small community that comes together to help each other. There’s plenty to do outdoors and it’s beautiful here. Cassio’s Cottage is a simple place in the perfect spot for people who want to get away from their busy lives and just relax and enjoy the area for a few days.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

The cottage isn’t really in a “neighborhood” as much as it’s on a country road that has just a few houses here and there and dirt roads nearby to take walks down. It’s in a beautiful area to watch a sunset and it’s easy to find and get to just using google maps. You really feel like you’re “away from it all” for a little while, yet not too far from town.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

This place is a little bit of a throwback in that when we renovated, we saved the old metal cabinets, the cast iron enameled sink top, bathtub and bathroom sink and in the mudroom, we’ve kept a lot of the previous owner’s hunting and fishing camp decor, because it’s part of the history of the place. Depending on when you grew up, it may give you a little nostalgia for a simpler time. Although we’ve retained some of its vintage charm, we’ve also added modern features like WiFi, a Roku tv, nest thermostat, on-demand tankless hot water heater, fans with remote controls, a portable Bluetooth speaker, etc. We don’t put the tv up in the living room, but it’s lightweight and can easily be put on the shelf above where it sits, if you want to watch something. For those who just want to spend time with loved ones and not look at a screen at all, there are lots of games to play outside together, and if you end up with rain or bad weather, there are plenty of activities for indoors, too!
