Our family had a wonderful time at Shell Cottage. The home was clean upon arrival and well stocked with all the amenities for us to use. The pool was great and well heated. There are plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas to use and the house had many toys, games and puzzles that our boys had fun playing with. The house is very close to the private access beach. It was so nice having that part of the beach basically to ourselves most days. Plus, the shelling was great right there. We had a wonderful time in North Captiva.

Perfect Vacation Home

Owner and property management were helpful and prompt with working out any small issues. The house and pool were clean and well furnished. No details were overlooked. Highly recommend!

Anniversary week

We had an amazing stay. Pat is attentive, helpful and so nice. The house and pool are set up perfectly. We love North Captiva and can’t wait for our next trip.

Relaxing

A well maintained property, better than we expected. Exactly what we were looking for in a vacation destination. Enjoyed what we call beach church with our worship leader Sue Ann on our first day. Pat is an outstanding property owner. Home was clean with plenty of extras. We will definitely rent this property again.

Second spring break at this lovely house

This was our second stay, three years apart. The house is still lovely and feels like someone's home. The access to the beach is a huge bonus. The walk is probably 5 min at the most. The kids loved the pool and the area around the pool is comfortable and relaxing. We will stay yhere again!

Relaxing Getaway

We had a comfortable stay with family & enjoyed a getaway from busy lives to let down & relax. We enjoyed the island escape with the lovely outdoor pool area too! Our host and as very responsive any time we reached out for help. We would love to come back again!

Shell of a time

We had the most wonderful 9 days in paradise. The house was perfect, weather was incredible and our rental was impeccable. Thanks Pat for the fantastic stay. We will def be back.

She’ll Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay. Pat was so nice and very helpful. The only thing that could have been nicer was the weather, but we preferred sitting in the beautiful screened porch and watching the rain while it snowed at home. Very nice pool and the house was clean and had everything we needed.

Great Week

This property was better than advertised. The host was outstanding. She handled all our questions and was very attentive. Location was great. My kids had a ball. Definitely want to go back.

Look No Further

Shell Cottage is where it's at. We couldn't be more satisfied. The home has everything provided for you that you could need. Even your own private beach access. This was our 4th visit to North Captiva and by far the best one yet, thanks to Pat and her sweet friend Charm.

Exceptional, highly recommend!

The rental was very clean, well stocked and Pat was very helpful, so kind and friendly. Having the golf cart and private beach access (with parking for the included golf cart) was awesome! We saw turtles, manatees, dolphins, tarpon jumping out of the water, ospreys, pelicans, and many other birds. The house has a beautiful pool, outdoor dining area, bar, washer and dryer, dishwasher and everything you need in a kitchen for pots/pans/utensils, etc. and every game you need to be entertained! The porch has great screens type curtains if the bugs come out at night. And, the porch has a beautiful owl couple with 2 babies! It was so cool to watch the couple at night! Property also has a hawks nest and a few red headed wood peckers that were fun to watch! We read reviews about the island and followed the good advise- pack less clothes and more food/beverages. Definitely recommend. Pat had a welcome basket with snacks and a bottle of wine- so nice! Definitely recommend!!

Personal Island Oasis

Our contact was the homeowner, Pat. She was on the dock with our cart when we arrived and took us to the property. The house was clean, nicely decorated, well stocked with every thing we needed and very comfortable. There was a nice welcome basket of wine and snacks! The pool area sold us on this property and it did not disappoint. It was the perfect place to spend time together lounging, listening to music, eating and playing games. We did have an issue with algae developing in the pool at the end of the week. If we were staying longer, we would have reached out to Pat about it. I suspect there was something that we could have done. It may be good to know what that was ahead of time. The front porch was another favorite spot. The furniture was very comfortable and the pull screen curtains were great to keep closed when needed but open when we wanted to watch for the woodpeckers! The furniture and beds in the house we’re all very comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms are updated and attractive. (FYI - there is a strong sulfur smell from water at this home. I know that’s something that bothers some people. We don’t recall it at the other home we rented on the island, so it may have been a temporary issue). There were nice little “touches” everywhere around the house and it was stocked if anything you can think to need. The location on the island was perfect with beach access nearby. There are several locations where you can park your cart to get to different beach accesses as well. We used them all to explore as much of the beach as possible. We had our groceries delivered, which wasn’t cheap but was worth every penny. We fixed our meals mostly at the house. We did enjoy appetizers and drinks at both Barnacles and Mangos several times and had a very good dinner at The Boathouse to celebrate our anniversary. It week was exactly what we had expected and we can’t imagine not coming back to the island and this home again next year!!

Paradise

The hardest part for us was the ferry getting there. Everything else was extremely easy and communication with the owner was great. Loved the cottage, decor and amenities plus the location. Miss it already and hope to get the chance to go to paradise again someday.

Everything we needed!

Thanks Pat for a great stay. The house had everything we needed for cooking and enjoying a week together, even things we would not typically expect— Games! Pool floats! Sand toys! Knives that cut! The island and house were awesome and Pat was a great host - she went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. We would definitely go back!

Lovely stay

We were a family of 4 adults and 2 children. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed and then some. The beach is 5 minutes walk. Beautiful sunsets and good fishing right off the beach. Private pool was amazing. The location of the house is great and surrounded by thick vegetation, making it feel very private, as opposed to many other houses on the island.

Wonderfully property with EVERYTHING you could need!

Had a wonderful 7 night stay at the shell cottage. Pat was very attentive to our needs and communicated very well. This house has literally everything a family could need to stay entertained, and live for a week on vacation. Kitchen is amazingly equipped. Literally as long as you have the ingredients, you can cook anything. Wonderfully private pool and porch. Great space to hang out. Minutes from the beach. House has kayaks, and a trailer for the golf cart for getting them to the beach. Also has beach chairs, towels, blenders, coffee makers, 4 bathrooms! Washer/dryer. Fridge downstairs by pool and upstairs in main living area. Pat will set you up with groceries services, ferry contacts, and a property anger on the island. My wife and I hope to get back to the shell cottage someday.

Fabulous location!

The property was absolutely perfect for us. We enjoyed the heated pool and walking the beach every day. If you’re looking for an off the beaten path location this could be what you’re looking for.

Beautiful home with short walk to incredible beach

We had a great time at Shell Cottage. The house was perfect for the five of us (two parents and 16, 19 and 22 year old kids). Plenty of room to spread out so we each had our own space. The pool was warm and lovely. 30 second walk to a beautiful beach with a private entry gate. Golf cart and bikes were all we needed to get everywhere on the island. Pat was so helpful before and during our stay. Loved every minute of the vacation and we hope to go back soon.
