Pet Friendly Downtown Studio Apartment with Deck - AC - Walk to Main Street

This property has been a short term rental since 2015 - Vacation Rental Collective took over management in November 2023 (it previously had 600 reviews with a 4.84 rating).

Our studio apartment is just a 5 minute walk to historic downtown Durango and all of the downtown restaurants, shops and entertainment including the famous Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum. The apartment is also less then a 10 minute walk to Santa Rita Park and the Animas River (with great fishing and a 5 mile trail along the river).

The apartment includes a fully stocked kitchen, WIFI, Washer/dryer, one assigned off street parking space next to the apartment and a window AC Unit in the summer and fall. A King bed, Smart TV with cable and deck with views round out the full compliment of amenities included.

This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $50 per stay.

Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.

Very clean, great location. Small tidy kitchen well stocked with pots and pans, washer and dryer. Very comfortable bed. This little space fit our needs perfectly. The host clearly communicated the check in and out instructions.

Great location! The only issues I had were the same as others: it was difficult to get my dogs up and down the metal steps, and the couch was not comfortable. However, I would definately stay here again as the studio was clean and it was within walking distance of downtown and the train station.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The studio was cute, clean, and in a perfect location—just a short walk to Main Street. The deck was a great bonus, and we loved that it was dog friendly. We stayed while moving our daughter into Fort Lewis College, and it was the perfect home base for the trip. Would definitely stay again!

This property was cute, comfortable and so close to the downtown area. Everything was either a quick drive or walk from the apartment. We enjoyed morning coffee on the balcony every morning. Thank you!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The garage apartment is located in a wonderful spot to navigate downtown Durango. The place is very basic but works well if you don’t plan to spend much time in the place outside of sleeping. Bed is very comfortable. Loveseat was not comfortable — it had a spring situation that needs fixed and wasn’t really usable. Floor tiles in the kitchen and bathroom are the stick-on kind and when you walked on them with bare feet they would often stick to your foot and come up off the floor. Bathroom could have been cleaner. Parking for one car is perfect.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a cozy little studio apartment located on the alley that runs between two main streets. Enjoyed that it was pet friendly and had a window a/c unit as we were there during Summer. The unit was clean but was in need of maintenance items. 1. The bathroom sink had a drain leak that allowed water to pool on the floor, no biggie, put a towel around it and let the owner know so he could avoid a rotting floor. 2. The small fridge is a dorm type and not frost free, the freezer section was frozen solid and needed defrosting. 3. the bathroom exhaust vent was clogged with dust and needed vacuuming. 4. The window A/C filter was clogged with dust and needed to be cleaned. None of these were show stoppers but these would seem to be housekeeping items that should be handled by the cleaning service.

In dire need of maintenance

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Contacted the property management company with my feedback directly, but haven't heard back in 3 weeks. Here are the issues we observed: The toaster is broken.The kitchen blind is defective—it can’t be raised, and the slats do not close properly.Two of the knobs on the stove are loose.There is a leak from the kitchen faucet.The left shade on the living room door cannot be raised and keeps falling down.The knob on the cabinet above the bathroom sink was found inside the cabinet.There appears to be a leak behind the bathroom sink—water was collecting on the floor.Please also take a look at the gas heating stove in the living room (the faux wood-burning type). It looks like a plate in the ceiling of the unit is loose or misaligned.Altogether, this leaves us questioning whether we can rely on VRC rentals to be in good condition, which is disappointing.

Think twice before booking here!

I generally don't write bad reviews but this was not a good experience. My husband and I took a mini honeymoon trip to durango and found this booking with amazing reviews. We found out soon after that this place didnt hold up to those reviews. The first day, my husband had a cold shower after mine. We had maintenance come out and they told us it was a small water heater. We were understanding and decided to split up our shower times. The next day we had no hot water at all which should be a standard with how much we paid. In addition, we found issues with the couch. Springs in the couch were stabbing us. Also, the fire alarm went off super easy when we tried to cook. All of this was super frustrating. The only good thing was how close it was to town. This is not directly rented out by vrbo but a company called vrc. We tried to get part of our money back from VRC because of the inconveniences. They originally agreed to give us 50% of our trip expenses back, but refused later and decided to pay a part of one service which was very unprofessional. After arguing with company, we went to vrbo directly. They were very helpful and gave us more from the booking. They were also very understanding after our experience. Beware VRC in durango!

Quiet neighborhood near downtown

Quiet area. Easy access and beautiful neighborhood streets. Place was clean and homey. Property leaves lots of amenities such as individualized dish soaps, laundry pods, hygiene materials, etc. Has a pot coffee maker with filters and coffee, kettle for hot water and a few tea selections, and a key rig but bring your own pods. Bathroom could use more counter space and towel hooks or racks. Bed very comfortable and the gas furnace was perfect for the freezing weather.

Great Stay

Cute studio apartment suitable for a couples getaway. Comfy bed and sofa. Deck with mountain view. I even had a deer walk by while I was sitting there.

It exceeded my expectations and was comfortable in every way -- well appointed kitchen (I love to cook), extremely clean, very comfortable bed and sitting area, in a quiet neighborhood. We walked to the river every morning and it's the perfect proximity to all the shops and restaurants I love on Main St. Highly recommend and will return whenever possible.

Cute studio

Great location, easy walk to Main Street. Very nice, clean and comfortable studio. Stairs aren’t very dog friendly being metal grated steps, but he got used to them eventually.
