Imagine a un hombre que amó tanto su casa que lo trajo desde el continente, a través de 35 millas de mar, arriesgando la desintegración completa de la estructura y, finalmente, plantándola en un lugar hermoso en la Isla Bonita, 4 ½ norte. de San Pedro, donde finalmente fue restaurado por un arquitecto estadounidense a quien los propietarios actuales lo compraron, en medio de historias y leyendas que surgieron alrededor de la casa durante su larga vida.

Esta es una casa totalmente renovada de 3 dormitorios y 3 baños con un amplio salón / comedor y una cocina moderna. puede acomodar hasta seis personas cómodamente. Tiene más de mil pies cuadrados de cubierta que da al arrecife más allá de la puerta de entrada. La brisa marina lo convierte en un excelente lugar para pasar el rato y disfrutar del sol y el mar; y el arrecife atrae a uno para practicar kayak, bucear y pescar. El muelle privado ha sido reconstruido y se ha agregado una característica de natación modesta.

Excursiones de pesca, excursiones a sitios increíbles de buceo y snorkel, así como aventuras al continente para visitar las ruinas mayas, se pueden tomar desde la puerta de entrada de la casa de la iguana. O puede sacar un kayak y tener su propia aventura en el arrecife.

Esta es una casa de vecindario y, a pesar de que se encuentra a cuatro millas y media de San Pedro, encontrará vecinos amigables, excelentes restaurantes y una conveniente tienda de comestibles a poca distancia. Great house, location, view, and service

This is a great house for anyone wanting to avoid hotels. The owner lives in a house behind the rental house and is eager to help at any time. There's a dive shop next-door that uses the dock in front of the house, which is incredibly convenient. We would happily stay here again.

Great location

Our stay at the Igauna House was delightful! The house itself is very comfortable and we loved the history, the expansive porch and long walks on the beach. Chris and Mary Alice were very attentive to our questions before the trip and while we were there. We loved the location with it’s proximity to secret beach and the restaurants north of the bridge. They provide covered parking for the golf carts which proved to be wonderful given we had unusual rainy weather while there. It was a delightful family trip for us and I’d highly recommend booking the Iguana House for your trip to Ambergris Caye!

The Iguana House was perfect

The Iguana House was the perfect house and location for our first trip to Belize. The house is very roomy with plenty of space for all six of us, and the patio made the ideal location for morning coffee and afternoon happy hour. The views from the front porch/patio are spectacular. The location, 4 miles outside of San Pedro, was is very quiet and relaxed and a welcome relief from the chaos that is San Pedro. Nicky was extremely helpful answering our questions, making recommendations, and getting us set up for our first, but not our last, trip to Belize.

I'm sorry that Nicky is not here to respond. She had a ball with this group or guests. But the most gratifying thing for us is that our guests had a great time. And this group was delightful. We look forward to seeing them down here again to check out all the on-going improvements the Iguana House. Part of the improvements here is the work that continues on the road, and, once that is done, the Iguana House will be even more of an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the town because all the traffic will be diverted to the finished road. There'll be very little sound out besides the sound of the surf, the breeze and the laughter. God richly bless you and your families.

A perfect house and location

Our first trip to Belize and the Iguana House was perfect. Very comfortable and charming, plenty of room and the views from the deck truly Chamber of Commerce quality. Nicky was very helpful (and fun) getting us set up and organized. Being out of town was great, close enough to anything we needed but away from the chaos which is San Pedro. Coral Divers and Genie were all we needed to plan and schedule any tours and excursions we wanted and since they are next door this was exceptionally convenient. I'd recommend Iguana house to anyone who has tried and likes the VRBO experience.

Nice place

We enjoyed our stay at Iguana House. It was decorated nicely and all our travel was arrange through Coral Divers(right next door). The beaches have a lot of trash, but the view (sunrise and sunsets) were beautiful. I got awesome pictures. The house is 4-5 miles north of the city. We rented a gulf cart. There are a few restaurants just north of the house. Highly recommend Rojo Bar and Mamba's. DO NOT go to John's Escape. Waste of money, terrible food and drinks, and the owners were very rude. The Rojo bar had great food and drinks.

The prefect house in a great location!

Going to Ambergris Caye and staying at Iguana House was a perfect property and great location, (quite but not far from town) for our family vacation with my husband our son and his wife and our 2 adult daughters. The house looks just like the pictures, clean and well kept. It was well stocked with everything we needed. The deck is amazing to hang out on any time of the day. The dock is a great spot at night to watch the stars. Nicki was a great host, being around when we wanted to know something but left us alone to enjoy our family time. The guys from the dive shop were awesome! Noel took us fishing and snorkeling 2 times which made for really great days. If you you're looking for an incredible massage ask for Mary. Everyone we met became friends that we will miss till next time. I will definitely go back to Ambergris Caya and stay at Iguana House.

Great house and location

My wife and I spent a truly relaxing week at the house. It is well maintained, landscaped, has a large deck and is stocked with all the necessary essentials. Jim was willing to help in any way to make it easy for us while we were there. He arranged our request for a weekly golf cart rental and had it at the house when we arrived. It is a fun way to explore the island and for trips to town. At his suggestion, Coral Divers met us at the San Pedro airport and took us to the house by boat which was nice after a long day of travel. Genie and his crew were great and we took two snorkeling trips with them. Rubio is the caretaker next door and he would go out on his boat to bring back lobster, crab and snapper. The house has a new BBQ grill which made for some delicious dinners. The Belize people were all very friendly. Would love to go back someday.

A Bit Dissapointing!

With no hot water, little guidance from the Property Manager, hidden transportation costs, and long distance into town, I would say the experience was Fair to Average at best. The house itself is approx 4 to 5 miles from town, while this may mean little to most of us, by Belizian terms, this is "very far". Your only mode of transportation is a golf cart, which you have to pay a pretty penny for, or water taxi, which is about $40 one-way with a guy who may or may not be available. Furthermore, the roads back are dark, no lighting and not paved, so make sure if you choose the golf cart route (which is much cheaper), you're with other people as the golf carts themselves aren't 100% reliable as we found out on particular evening. Also, while the house is beautiful, there is little to no hot water. When we reported it to the property manager and care taker, the solution was to take a shower one at a time. Furthermore, the property manager for this place is responsive if you send her an email, however her messages are brief and curt, so you're constantly left asking more questions. A typical conversation would be Me: "so how do we get, to the house from the airport?" PM: " golf cart or water taxi" Me: " do you have a recommendation, any costs?" PM: "call Armando or Chris, they will take care of you" Me: "do you have a recommendation, any costs?, how long does each take" PM: "we will be available to help you, call us anytime" on and on and on..... In short, we had a small group of ladies and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously because the island is beautiful and the people are very helpful. But at the Iguana House, you're sort of left figuring things out on your own because the location is so remote and far removed. The only saving grace was having Sam, the care taker, come help us anytime we ran into issues.

Thank you for your review. There are some things that we obviously need to take care of; there are other things that we have to live with for the time being. First, let me say that Nicky and I had to leave the island two years ago in order to take care of my mother who was in her last days. We were compelled to surrender our property into the hands of a property manager, knowing that neither the property nor the guests would be taken care of the way we would have taken care of them ourselves. Nicky and I are back on the island and will be managing the property and accommodating our guests personally: we are eager to see that all guests have a terrific time in Belize. The reviewer is absolutely correct in her assessment of the remoteness of the house, the difficulty and expense of going to and from town, and the shameful condition of the road. Regarding the remoteness, Nicky, my lovely wife, likes to say, “It’s private, but not remote.” And I’ll have to add that it is this very quality that many of our guests seek. On the undisclosed expense of going to and from town, this reviewer is the second to mention it: although I don’t see how to avoid those expenses, we will certainly be forthcoming with our guests as to how to get the most bang for the buck; and, finally, the road is distressing, to say the least. If there is a plan to finish it and maintain it, I don’t know about it. In my opinion, it’s inexcusable. We greatly appreciate the heads-up about the hot water supply: it’s the first mention of it. It’s usually so hot outside, we are all happy to have a cold shower! But it is a small thing to upgrade to a bigger holding tank and we will do that without hesitation. We’re very sorry that you were inconvenienced in that way. Thank God for Sam! This reviewer is the second or third to extol the virtues of Sam. Unfortunately, the Iguana House will lose Sam since he works for the management team. It is our hope that we can earn the same approval that Sam has. Belize, Ambergris Caye, San Pedro are unlike other vacation destinations: it’s a bit more primitive. And orientation is essential to have a good time. You need someone to show you around, tell you how to get things done, be responsive to your needs. Nicky and I will do that. In fact, we love doing that! Finally, let’s hear it for the Belizeans: no matter what the issue, our guests have always raved about the friendliness of the islanders.

Wonderful!

This house was a perfect getaway! Lots of room for the whole family. Close enough to town to get things you need and go out to dinner yet far enough away for peace and solitude. Some nice restaurants close by as well. Highlights for us where fishing for permit and swimming with manatees! Close to secret beach which the kids loved and some nice resorts that let you swim in the pools if you dine there. You can walk to mangrove fishing and catch some barracuda and bone fish. Half Moon Caye is a must see if you are a nature/snorkel lover (Amigos Del Mar was amazing!) Also yoga over the water at close by Akbol resort. We will back!

Amazing hosts! Overall a good experience!

The hosts were so great in their communication with us and also helped us get a larger golf cart that was delivered to the house. We had a few minor upsets, the AC not seeming to work as well as we wanted, a leak in the master bedroom ceiling from the shower upstairs (not a big deal, just didn't use the upstairs shower), the wifi was a bit spotty, and the washer not draining. Nothing major and Chris was quick to respond to help out. I know since things are just opening up again since COVID, not everything would be perfect, so that in mind the place fit our needs and it was close to Secret Beach which was a bonus! Overall, we had a great time and had everything we needed. One little thing I would add to make it just a bit better would be to clean up the beach in front of the house. There was a lot of debris and sea grass that was washed up so my kids couldn't play in the sand right in front of the house so they ended up going down a bit where it was cleaner to play. Again, not a big deal, just a suggestion to make others stay better.

We had a great time at Iguana House!

It's the perfect location - both close enough and far enough away from town for us. Many dining options just a short walk or golf cart ride away without the hustle of town. The setting on the beach is just perfect and we spent a lot of time on the porch enjoying the view. The house itself has what you need - neither fancy nor plain. It's just right. Really great to have a bathroom for each room.

Great place to stay!

Arrival was a little rough as there was nobody there to pick us up when we told there would be. After we were able to get a golf cart and figure out where we needed to go the rest of the trip was fabulous! We will definitely be back!

Great location and terrific host

Due to scheduling changes we actually weren't able to stay at Iguana House, but Jim (the owner) went out of his way to connect us up with another similar property just a couple houses down. The area is awesome especially if you want to get away from the crowds in San Pedro. But close enough that you can head into town when you want. It also gives you close access to Secret Beach. The kids spent hours kayaking and snorkeling since we had our own ocean access just steps away from the porch. We rented a golf cart to get around which was a blast.

Well Equipped House on Beach

The house is about 4-1/2 miles north of San Pedro on a beach with a great view. Each bedroom has a bath and the kitchen is well equipped. The beds were comfortable and the caretaker, who lives next door, gave a thorough explanation of all the features and operation of the house. We used Coral Blue Divers for our diving and snorkeling excursions. Except of the mosquitos ("no see ums") we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Very happy to hear you had a good experience visiting Iguana House. The mosquitoes have a tendency to come out around sunset but are not really problematic when there is an onshore breeze going. As you know, one can always retreat to the AC, but it is nice to be able to enjoy that patio. Hopefully your next stay will be bug-free!

Beautiful beach house with spectacular views!

Jim, the owner was very responsive during our planning phase and answered all my questions in a thoughtful and thorough manner. The house provided everything we needed for a family vacation and the views are amazing! Coral Divers is right next door and made it is so easy to take Maya Ruin tours, cave tubing, fishing and scuba diving. We'd love to go back next year!

Secluded nice beach front home

The Iguana house is a comfortable two story house about 4.0 miles north of San Pedro, with a stocked kitchen, a wrap around deck overlooking the water, and working laundry facilities There was a lot of help with transportation when arriving and leaving the island. We arranged an awesome snorkeling and fishing trip with Genie, the owner of Coral Divers. It was wonderful having accessibity to two kayaks so we could snorkel and explore. Jim Benjamin or Rubio tended to our needs as they arose. There are several nearby restaurants and a small grocery store up and down the beach within range by walking or taking a golf cart Renting a golf cart to take into town was a necesity if you plan to take advantage of the kitchen candor explore the area. Unfortunately during our stay there was extensive construction immediately adjacent to the house; the building of two new large homes. It was a very nice vacation destination, good for groups or large families, but it will be much better when the construction is done.

Not necessarily a swimming beach, but nice shallow water for the kids to play in. A bit of a jaunt on your golf cart into town (4.5 miles north), but there are a couple of small grocery stores nearby and plenty of restaurants in the area. Jim, the owner, lives behind the house and was available if needed and out of sight if not. Rubio, the neighbor, is very friendly and helpful. He and his wife cooked a couple of delicious dinners for us, which included freshly speared lobster and fish. Organizing excursions with Genie, Coral Divers owner/operator, couldn’t have been easier since he lives nearby and his boat leaves from the dock in front of the house. One day, we went fishing with Genie’s crew and upon return, the guys cleaned the fish, conch and lobster and made some of the best food we had on our trip. Also went snorkeling a couple of days and to the mainland to see some Mayan ruins, zipline and cave tube. All great trips. Overall, a delightful beach vacation!

Nice, secluded beach house

The Iguana house is a comfortable beach house 4.5 miles north of San Pedro, with A/C, working kitchen and deck overlooking the water. There was a lot of help with transportation when arriving on the island, and arranging snorkeling and fishing trips through next door coral divers was easy (great trips). During our stay there was extensive construction immediately adjacent to the house - building two new large homes just an arm reach away, which was unfortunate. There are several nearby restaurants up and down the beach within range of a 1/2 mile + walk or easy range of the golf cart. Overall a very nice vacation destination, good for groups or large families, but will be better when the construction is done.

My husband and I stayed at the house with our three teenage children for a week.

The property served our needs and was very nice and clean. The view was beautiful and felt very secluded. The kayaks allowed us to kayak out to smaller coral reefs and anchor. Access to Coral Divers next door was very convenient.

Beautiful, romantic getaway!

We stayed here for a week on honeymoon, and could not have been happier. It was just the two of us, but the house was big enough for many more to stay comfortably. The property is about four miles north of San Pedro, away from the bulk of people, but there are plenty of beach bars and restaurants to discover close by. Secret Beach is a short golf-cart ride away, and is an absolute must! The house itself is beautiful, spacious, and well-equipped. There is even a barbecue on the back porch, and the neighbor will sell you fresh-caught fish and lobster if you ask. The view is incredible! Beautiful tropical beach just outside the front door, and as far as you can see in either direction. The dock is lovely, and a small staircase allows you easy entrance into the warm and glorious waters. The ocean breeze is wonderful and really kept the mosquitoes at bay. We really couldn't have been happier. There is a water taxi that will take you into town from the pier just up the beach, but we recommend renting a golf cart to get around. There is so much to explore nearby down little dirt roads, you'll be happy to have it. The roads have improved since some of the earlier reviews, with only a few really bumpy stretches between here and town. Jim was the most gracious host, and you'll be in really good hands. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome, and was available whenever we had questions. This place is incredible. You'll love it here!
