Best Rental Ever!

We've stayed at numerous rentals over the years and Rusty's Retreat was absolutely one of the best. It was perfect in every way -- clean, spacious, bright, incredibly well-stocked with everything we needed for our month-long stay and our hosts were incredibly kind and helpful. The location was absolutely perfect as we were a quick walk away from the beach, great restaurants, grocery store, shops and the beautiful bay side of the island that overlooked downtown San Diego. Everything was so convenient and the weather was spectacular -- sunny and low 70s every single day. We were a quick ride (15 min) from downtown San Diego and the airport so there really is no need to even rent a car, although we did so we could take some day trips to explore the coast. I can't recommend Rusty's Retreat highly enough!

Best Choice in Coronado!

Our stay at Rusty’s Retreat in Coronado was outstanding! We could not have asked for more. First of all, the location is absolutely perfect. We could walk one block to Orange Avenue and around eleven fantastic restaurant options. We did so almost every evening. The beach was only about an eight minute walk away as well. You will not find a better located rental in Coronado. The condo itself was beautifully done. The floors are tiled throughout. The condo offers lots of space and upgraded appliances in the kitchen. Loved the icemaker! There were two full bedrooms with two full bathrooms. The living room opens onto a marvelous patio where we enjoyed our cocktail each evening. With east facing views the patio was out of the sun in the evening, but in the sun for cool morning coffee. Everything worked perfectly as well. Having a private parking space is paramount in Coronado, as is being close enough to walk to the shopping and dining options. Parking there is problematic. We would go three or four days and not move our vehicle. I was amazed at how quiet the condo was even though it was only a block off busy Orange Avenue. The street we were on is very lightly traveled, and the church across the street was only busy on Sunday morning. We are both light sleepers so this was important to us. I might add that the beds were so comfortable that we noted the brand name and purchased one when we returned home. You cannot beat Rusty’s Retreat in Coronado!

I was born on the island, (before the bridge; fun fact, it is only 54 years old). My dad was stationed there on North Island. Of course we moved around a lot, but Coronado always was special to my family. After years of moving around we were able to get back to the island. Rusty's retreat is named after my mom. She loved the walkability of the island and the central location of our condo. My husband and I were actually married at the Hotel del Coronado. We love getting back to Coronado when we can but in the meantime we wanted to share Rusty's Retreat.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Coronado is truly a very special place. Rusty's Retreat is so centrally located that you really don't need a car when you visit. The grocery store and pharmacy are a block away. The beach is a 10 minute easy walk. Restaurants galore are within a 1-10 minute walk, not to mention the famed Hotel Del Coronado. If you need to go to the other end of the island, it is only 1 mile down Orange street. In the summer months there is a free shuttle that will take you from one end to the other. There is a bike rental place right around the corner from the condo if feeling more adventurous.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Location, location, location.... You can't get more centrally located to what Coronado has to offer. Rusty's Retreat was completely renovated in 2022. It has all new flooring, countertops, furniture, beds, linens, appliances, windows, etc. It is a quiet, peaceful place to relax and enjoy. If working from home is necessary, we have high peed internet and a dedicated work area.
