`Salt of the Sea` - beachfront and pet friendly!
“Salt of the Sea” is a charming beachfront cottage nestled on Little Gasparilla Island. This rustic and cozy retreat captures the essence of old Florida charm with its Caribbean-style architecture and fully-screened wrap-around porch.
Ideal for a couple but capable of accommodating up to four people, this cottage features a spacious screened porch facing the beach, complete with an outdoor dining table and a comfortable seating area for relaxing and watching the stunning LGI sunsets.
Inside, the cottage boasts one-of-a-kind beach views through tall French doors, which, though old and full of character, are best appreciated as windows to let in the abundant sunshine. The living room’s high ceilings, open beams, and beautiful hardwood floors contribute to an airy, open feel, while the nautical decor adds a whimsical touch. The overall effect is a cozy, rustic, and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a serene island getaway.
The house sits next to a shared beach access used only by other guests staying on this private island, so there may be some foot traffic, but it is minimal compared to a public beach.
The beach is private to the island, but it is shared among island homeowners and guests. At times, others may choose to sit along the shoreline in front of the home.

Salt of the Sea is located on Little Gasparilla Island, which is a bridge-less barrier island. You will need to make an appointment with the water taxi, rent a boat, or bring your own boat. Bringing your own boat? The house has access to a community dock that is perfect for fishing or watching the beautiful sunrise over the Boca Grande Causeway. The dock has a 24 ft. maximum and only allows 1 boat per household. Boat pass is required - no assigned slips, first come first serve.
For the water taxi, you’ll park your car at Eldred’s Marina and load your luggage on the water taxi there. The water taxi is $30 for up to 2 people, one way. Each additional person is $15, one way. The water taxi is by appointment only and its hours are 8:30-5:00. You can book appointments outside the normal hours of operation, but the cost is higher and varies based on the time.
The dock is about a ¼ mile walk or golf cart ride to the house.
There are not any grocery stores or restaurants on the island, but there is a grocery delivery service.
Golf cart is not included with rental – but there are 2 golf cart rental companies available on the island.
A rental agreement will be sent after booking and must be reviewed and signed by the primary guest to complete the reservation.
Pet policy: $100 per dog with advance notice and approval. No cats. Specific breeds may not be allowed. We reserve the right to not allow untrained and aggressive dogs. This is a dog friendly island; therefore, you may encounter other dogs. If your dog is aggressive towards other dogs or people, we do not allow them.

Beautiful beach, lovely house who could ask for more? This area is unique for sure. You do have to weigh the sacrifices of convenience for the solitude and beauty of a practically PRIVATE beach. Easy choice for us. The house was perfect for what we needed. One piece of advice…bring a really good bug spray. The gnats and mosquitoes are no joke at sunset.

Peaceful and private beachfront
This was the perfect little getaway. The house is right on the beach and the dock is a short walk away. Dog friendly island and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Easy access to Boca Grande and fishing and beautiful sunsets. We will definitely be back.

The house and stay exceeded our expectations. Tasha gives truly a 5 star treatment. From the moment you walk into the beautiful decorated house, you feel in another world. The house is stocked with everything you need and more. The bed is extremely comfortable, the shower was amazing after a beach day. My wife and I and our two chocolate labs stayed 3 nights May 3 to 6.
This charming house is in splendid shape. It made us feel like it was our own vacation home. We would not change one thing.
The beach is gorgeous with almost no crowds. This time of the year the turquoise sea temperature is perfect. We saw turtles, dolphins, tarpons and a manatee that we were able to pet on the sandbank, about 50 yards from the beach. We had Long Beach walks to both ends of the island, about a two to three hour walk roundtrip both ways with almost no one on sight.
Tasha, the manager is always available to answer any issues that may arise.
The house has a cart to carry your stuff from the marina, about 100 yards distance.

Rat Infested, construction, Public access point, ZERO customer serviceDay 1Large Rat on the screened in deck, we had to make barricades and get it out. Day 2Awakened 7:30am to loud pounding, house next door(less than 20 feet away was having construction done. I contacted Tasha-property mgr- told her about the rat and the construction-indicating it would have been nice to have a heads up that construction was going on prior to our arrival. She did Not reply, texted her again around 5:30pm-construction was still going on. She finally replied, the island has a rat problem and she has no control over what neighbors do on their property. Construction continued to 7:30 pm!Day 3Went on deck and see a gulf cart parked in what I thought was our driveway and people camped out in front of our rental;, loud music, fishing rods all the way across our rentals beach area. I called Tasha and even sent a picture. Surprise, surprise no answer till hours later. Texted she couldn't talk because she was driving, but sent a mark up of the picture and said this property is a public access point; people can be wherever they want.This property is a PUBLIC ACCESS POINT, people will pile up their gulf carts all around the property and pile up on the beach all in front of the houseDay 4Time to go home...HallelujahThis property manager is beyond terrible and deserves negative stars. The little communication she does provide is telling you you're wrong or fix your own problem.

Hello Rachel, thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry your experience on LGI didn’t meet your expectations. I strive for all guests to enjoy the peaceful, unique character of the island, and I regret that this wasn’t the case for you.
I would like to clarify a few points and provide some context. Little Gasparilla Island is an island in its natural state, and like much of Florida, it is home to native wildlife—including raccoons, rabbits, and yes, occasionally a rat. While I understand spotting one on the screened porch was unpleasant, I want to reassure you and future guests that the home is not infested; this was an isolated outdoor sighting.
Regarding construction noise, I truly empathize with the disruption. Although I don’t manage the neighboring property, I contacted their manager upon hearing from you, and she confirmed that the work ended around 6:30 that evening and did not continue.
While the island is private, there is a deeded easement next to the home for nearby residents only. During your stay, there were only two small family groups within a quarter mile of the house, including the family you mentioned and another family to the south. Based on the photo you sent me, there appeared to be ample space on the beach north of that family, but still in front of the house.
The golf cart you referenced was parked fully on a neighbor’s lot and did not block access.
I responded to all your messages within six hours, during a busy weekend, and did my best to assist.
