House OK, Bed Bugs, Terrible Experience, Misleading listing, Broken Fireplace,

The Good: the house is a great spot. It is a bit secluded (up a dirt road so drive a 4x4 in winter). Nice view of Sugar Mountain, great grounds, house is big and is well stocked with pots and pans and other kitchen items. The Bad: 1. The listing shows the barn and many pictures of it. Turns out, that is a seperate listing all together and you have to pay seperately for the use of the barn. 2. Owner did not reply initially during the stay and had to text him seperately to get a reply. 3. Toiletries: While the listing states that shampoo and soap are provided, you are given an itty bitty bottle of shampoo and a small bar of soap for each bathroom for 16 people. So bring your own supplies. 4. Paper products: you are supplied with 1 to 2 rolls per bathroom (for a house that can sleep 16). Bring toilet and paper towels. 5. Organization: everything is everywhere. If you need a spatula or wisk, plan to search about 10 different spots. The Ugly: Bed bugs. My daughter was bit up severely the second last day and thought only misquitos. On our final day it got worse she went to the doctor and they determined it was bed bugs. She has welts all over her body and was in extreme pain and discomfort. The owner stopped replying after one message complaining I own my own vacation rental and this rental is just not good. I typically would not write a bad review as I understand things happen, but this is beyond poor.

Excellent Wedding Venue

If you are looking for a great place to host your barn wedding, this is an amazing choice! With all of my family and bridesmaids coming from out of town, the house was perfect for us to stay at (and so close to the barn)! My bridesmaids and I were able to stay in the lower level while my family stayed upstairs. With the barn just steps away, I was able to stay in the barn during the evening and work on directions then just take a couple steps back up to the house. So, so, so convenient! And, to add to that, the owner of this property owns a small house nearby that was perfect for the groomsmen (within walking distance of the barn and house)! Patrick was wonderful to work with and was so flexible with all the questions I had. I highly recommend this Vrbo as a great wedding venue if you pay extra for the barn or a great place to stay to go skiing at sugar mtn or visit the high country!

Our wedding venue

We got married this weekend at this lovely VRBO. Wedding aside we loved the property and the house and barn. If anyone is considering this as their wedding venue I couldn’t recommend it more. Without a doubt the best day of my bride and I’s lives.

Beautiful ski slope view!

Plenty of space for 15 of us ranging on age from 5 to 81. Beautiful view of Sugar Mountain ski slopes. Very clean! Easy to get to. Would definitely stay here again with a large group!

Great stay

The house was perfect for my father’s 80th birthday celebration. Lots of space for everyone and we never felt crowded. The house is very well stocked for cooking. Patrik was great to work with. We would definitely stay here again!

Elopement Wedding

The photos don’t even do this house or property justice, it’s even more beautiful in person. This house was absolutely perfect for our small wedding ceremony. We had both of our immediate families stay with us and got married on the deck overlooking the property. There were also so many beautiful areas for photographs. We would definitely love to stay again for a big family vacation.

Good for a large group

This house is good for a large group with several couples. There are many bedrooms that are mostly all of the same. The master suite is average. There are two kitchens on different floors, but they were both nice. This property is animal friendly, so it has a pet odor throughout most of the house. Location is ok for convenience, but not for the view. Close to Banner Elk and has plenty of parking spaces. The fire pit was very nice and the exterior porches were well equipped. The house is choppy and there is no large open space to hang out in, but that is the trade off for the large number of rooms. Not one of my favorites houses in the area, but if you have 7-8 married couples, it was very accommodating.

Mountain wedding

This was the best location for a wedding! The barn was perfect for the reception! So many different views for photos and hanging out. There was plenty of room for our families in the house and such a relaxing space. Patrick was great with communication. Answered all questions and was very easy to reach/ responsive. He’s a fantastic host. Very easy to work with and understanding. We all loved his property. We had zero issues all weekend.

We recently stayed at this charming cabin and it exceeded all our expectations! The view from the property is absolutely breathtaking, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cabin itself is a gem. It's not only impeccably maintained but also thoughtfully designed, providing a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Having multiple bathrooms was a huge plus, ensuring everyone had their own space and privacy. The property manager responded to the messages quickly and friendly. Thank you to the property manager and the owners for sharing this wonderful cabin with us. p.s. Apple map provide better direction than google map

Wedding Venue of our dreams

We had an amazing wedding this venue was perfect. The host was great with communication and gave us early check on and check out times to accommodate our schedule. We had a few issues while on site but the host was always easy to contact and quick to offer a solution.

Perfect intimate wedding space!

I rented this property and barn to host my small wedding of about 45 people. Our immediate families stayed on property and our guests were able to find very close Accommodations around town. Photos really do not do this place Justice. The view in the back is absolutely unbelievable. The property is absolutely amazing. The barn was the perfect size to host our event. There is not a bathroom in the barn, however there was a very clean port o potty around back. Our guests were also able to easily access one downstairs of the house. Patrick was an excellent communicator and host. He answered all of my questions (multiple times). I would 100% come back again and stay. Thank you for helping create the mountain wedding of my dreams.
