The Space:

Have you ever wanted to visit Maine and feel like you are RIGHT ON THE OCEAN? Want to see the tide coming in and the mountains from every room? How about a private lot with a beach, fire pit, dock, and wildlife in your yard? This is LOBSTER POUND BEACH HOUSE!!

This 2 bedroom, 1 bath rustic beach house is owned by a local lobster fisherman. It is everything you need to enjoy Maine's oceanfront and make your own one of a kind salt-life memories. This private property is close to amenities and has everything you will need for your Maine vacation.



ONE FLOOR:

Main bedroom has a queen sized bed, and a breathtaking view

Bedroom two is converted from a screened in porch. It has a full sized bed, and a view over the water that feels like you are floating!

Full sized bathroom with a walk in shower, and a full sized washer and dryer.

Kitchen is stocked with everything you may need for that lobster dinner, or steak on the grill!

Off the spacious deck is a fire pit. Just to the right of the property is the private beach with water, Schoodic mountain, and sunset views!



Ellsworth with Hannafords, Shaws and Walmart are about 5 miles away

Hancock point with a non-denominational chapel, tennis courts, Carters Beach and restaurants are about 2 miles away.

Bar Harbor and Cadillac mountain 18 miles

Schoodic Point 15 miles

Winter Harbor and the ferry to Bar Harbor 10 miles

No pets allowed. Children over 10 are allowed. Please reach out to us if your children are under 10 and you would like to discuss it!

Scenic, calm, relaxing

We loved our stay at Lobster Pound. From the star filled sky at night to seeing seals, we loved the privacy and scenery this place offered.

Beautiful location within driving distance of everything. Got to watch seals and a variety of wild birds everyday. Just a great spot.

What an amazing retreat!! Being able to sit on the deck right on the water and look across at Cadillac mountain and all of the natural splendor of the Maine Coast was magical!! For those looking for a peaceful spot about from the hubub this place is perfect!

The cottage was very peaceful and tranquil. Loved the scenery from the deck where we spent considerable time. We also enjoyed seeing deer on the property, seals in the water and lobster fisherman. There were several restaurants and breweries in the neighboring towns.

We love the location of the house- beautiful views, great kayaking. The house is simple but clean and all you need when spending all your time outside. The small kitchen is totally functional and a BBQ on the deck with fantastic views. Susan is an amazing communicator and available if needed for anything.

We enjoyed our stay … we felt much more like locals staying at our cabin on the water than tourists .. which is what we were looking for on this trip ! :)

We had a wonderful 3 night stay. The check in process was smooth and it was easy to communicate with host if needed. The house was as pictured/described but the property itself was even better than we anticipated. Gorgeous views, private, sunset and beautiful day and night skies. We enjoyed watching the boats check the lobster traps each morning. The shower is small as pictured but the water pressure was great. The location was nice for our trips to Acadia and Bar Harbor. We loved being away from the crowds but close to grocery stores and restaurants. The host provided everything we needed for our family vacation. Would definitely stay again!

Park Like Setting

Beautiful private location with wildlife (wild turkey, porcupine, deer). House is a little rustic with low water pressure but it is clean and the beds are comfortable. Host communication was great.

Perfect!

The house was very comfortable and secluded. We had no issues and felt right at home. However, the views and location were perfection! As long as this house is available, we will be back next summer. This is truly a unique home. We love it!!

Fall getaway

The Lobster Pound House was a comfortable spot for our Fall getaway. The house is very clean and functional. A bit chilly when the temperature dropped but a space heater is available to keep you warm in the larger bedroom. The instructions to find the key to the house needs to be more specific as it took a few minutes to find it and the instructions for garbage disposal is also confusing and the location to drop off the garbage is quite a distance. Susan the manager was accessible and very helpful to answer our questions.

The specifics for the key and entry instructions are on the attachment to your check in instructions, which is referenced over and over. I am so sorry you did not read it! We did leave a light on since you were arriving at night. ; ) I am so sorry that you could not understand the garbage instructions either! Anytime you need help or have questions, we are here! I also sent an email to you the day before garbage day offering to take it out for you. I hope this is helpful information! We are so glad you enjoyed this waterfront property, the view is breathtaking. Watching the lobstermen fish, and the seals swim in with the tide makes is truly special! Lobster Boats, Seagulls, and Seals, Oh My!

Piece of Maine coast heaven. Couldn't stop saying WOW! Lobster boats pulling their traps right in front of the house and as far as you can see up and down the bay. Caught mackeral from my canoe. Saw at least a dozen seals on the rocks and swimming around my canoe. You can see Cadillac Mtn from the fire pit! So quiet! Only saw 3 or 4 pleasure boats the entire week. We'll be back!

Mix of pros and cons

Rating this house three stars as it came with a mix of pros and cons. When we rented this home, it was advertised as a beach house, not a beach cabin. To us, there is a difference. Having stayed in several cabins throughout our lifetime, we understand that cabins are not the same as a house. There are certain things you can expect to endure in a cabin as part of the experience. In a house, you expect things to work and function like in any typical home. I am happy to see the host has changed the description of this property to a "cabin", which is much more accurate. Pros: The pictures of the beach and the surrounding area do not do justice. This is a gorgeous and tranquil property. It is fairly close to everything you need without being "in town." There are quaint little restaurants a short drive away, grocery stores, and small markets. Cons: The bathroom is smaller than the pictures led us to believe and water pressure in the shower is very low; a shower is more like taking a sponge bath. The heat makes a very loud banging sound when it runs so it makes it hard to sleep at night when running the heat. The washer/dryer work but the washer agitates violently making a very loud racket. We addressed these concerns with management and are hoping these are fixed for the next tenants. As long as you expect cabin living nuance, you will very much enjoy this property. It is a beautiful & peaceful location, with breathtaking sunsets and abundant wildlife.

If I could rate Kelly and her husband, I would give them a zero. They wanted to complain, but did not want anything changed. The heat is baseboard heat, and makes a "tick tick" sound when heating. They also had a radiant heater to plug in, but chose to complain about the heat. The shower head has several settings, from light to stronger. The shower head is not plugged (we checked) it is just not a heavy stream of water, maybe that is what they are used to? The washer is great, we use it everytime in between renters. If she overloaded it, and the load was uneven, we dont know. She did not want it rectified. Again, complaints but not wanting any help or anything done. They were also stuck on the word cabin. They are not from Maine, FYI. We appreciate our guests, and guest feedback. It is unfortunate when someone stays and does not want their "space interrupted" but still chooses to give a bad review. Its too bad, this is a great space that the owner recently purchased and has made many upgrades. It is clean, and is exactly like the pictures and desciption, both were done this summer! The property is amazing, and the view........ its truly a Maine setting.
