Generational Family Vacation

We had such a great time!! As our time comes to a close here at the Outer Banks, I look back over the week at the fun memories we created. We celebrated a birthday, went to Sugar Planet, went crabbing and deep sea fishing, ate sooooo much good food and played in the pool until we were exhausted. I am so thankful for our week together The house was PERFECT! We’ve already requested the same week next year!!

Mare nostrum house review- “event house”

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: •HVAC, air filters were past due with being changed(someone from beach realty came to change after we contacted multiple times)•Stool in the kitchen was missing a leg•Basement fridge doesn’t close unless you have to force it shut. •No Propane for the grill•Poop in the outdoor bathroom •Dishwasher closest to the coffee pots does not latch to close and run dishwasher.•Landscaping not upkept for an “event” house- grass needed mowed, which we contacted multiple times to have it done for our event/ around pool needed swept and cleaned up •Upstairs freezer doesn’t stay frozen, food went bad.With it being an event house, and the additional fee we paid, it was just a little upsetting the minor inconveniences we ran into. Amazing Family Reunion Home

We had families from both east and west coasts and we couldn't have dreamed up a better vacation. Everyone had their own comfortable room and space but still felt so together! The kitchen was so functional and we made so many amazing memories cooking and eating together. This home had everything we needed. The kids loved the pool and wanted to swim all day and night. The walk to the beach was quick and enjoyable. And the roof top deck!! So relaxing. Would definitely recommend and return!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall great stay good accommodations and wonderful pool and hot tub. Trek to beach was long for us old people but worth the trip. Please note one of the gas grills has a bad starter luckily other seemed to work fine and two other charcoal grills available if needed. So much fun for kids playing volleyball and others using putting green. More deck space than I imagined and seating plentiful.

Loved Mare Nostrum!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our first vacation in the Outer Banks was amazing and our stay at Mare Nostrum attributed to that. The location was great as it is close to shopping, restaurants, and activities. The beach was a little walk but no to far. The house was very clean and it provided a kitchen filled with what we needed to prepare meals. We had plenty of room for our group of 20 and especially enjoyed the gathering area where we could all be together. The pool is large and the outdoor area was great. Having our own volleyball court was a nice addition. Only a few minor things that would be nice to be repaired the washing machine makes a very loud rattling noise, the bathtub drains need to be cleaned so the water doesn’t collect at your feet while showering, and one of the bar stools is in need of attention before it breaks completely. These issues weren’t terrible and didn’t affect our wonderful stay but they need addressing. We would definitely stay here again! Our favorite vacation house for sure!!!

Wonderful Family Vacay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was perfect for our group of 12 adults and 5 children (ages 1,2,3,9,12). The kitchen has everything needed to make food and drinks - pots, pans, griddle, coffee makers, and blenders with placeware and seating for everyone. We spent most of our time at the pool which was clean with plenty of chairs and loungers to relax on. The pool and outside areas are gated so we didn’t have to worry about the little ones. There was a cart, umbrellas, and sand toys for the beach along with cornhole and lots of balls for fun at the house. We brought an easy up for shade at the pool, a canopy for the beach, and coolers for drinks. There are fun/interesting things to do in the area and stores, restaurants, and the beer garden are a short drive or bike ride away. Small negatives - the beach is not too far away, but it’s a process to get everything there with little ones. You can hear the kitchen chairs being moved in the bedrooms below (maybe some felt liners on the legs would help). The little kids could open the front door from the inside, but the baby gate kept them on the kitchen level.

Beautiful Home!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house was definitely one of the best we've ever stayed in at OBX! It was exceptionally clean, beautifully decorated and stocked, and conveniently close to the beach and shopping. Our favorites were the pool, the beds, and the TV's in every room (for when you wanted a little quiet, private time.) My only complaints were that with no carpeting in the main living area, every move is heard loudly through the floor down in the bedrooms, and also we couldn't find a broom! A broom would have been nice to keep up on the sand and things on the floor. But overall, this house is a WINNER and I definitely recommend it!

There is plenty of seating and we were all able to eat dinner together. The kitchen has everything you need as far as appliances and cooking utensils. It is a short walk to the beach and the pool area is very large. An added bonus is the large yard with a volleyball court. I would absolutely recommend this property!

The house is bright and spacious, the pool large and clean (with a swing where we can sit and watch the kiddies!). The bedrooms are large and comfortable. There was a supply of books--fiction, nonfiction, older and new--the kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed to cook and eat the seafood that we bought. We had to call because there were no sheets on the beds nor bath towels in the rooms, and they were delivered promptly--on Sunday! The kids had a great time playing pool and volleyball. The ocean is within easy walking distance. I particularly loved that almost every room had a sliding door to the outside--but not the two rooms that were obviously for children. The upper deck was a favorite hang-out spot, and we also loved the hammock. The only drawback is that the stores, shops and restaurants of Kitty Hawk are at least (in good traffic) a 30 minute drive away. However, we attended Sunday services at the (very nice) Historic Carolla Chapel and that was just a short drive up the beach.

A Disappointment

The rental company was rude and did not respond to a concerns, despite a specific request for response. Additionally the pool people came into the pool area while my 12 yr olds were swimming and did not announce themselves or ask permission to enter. Then proceeded to add chemicals and kick the swimmers out of the pool at 1:00 on the first sunny day of vacation after several rainy days. Beach realty called and threatened us over the number of cars in the driveway, accusing us of having too many people in the house. Their own webpage indicates the driveway holds 10+ cars and we had 10. I can pay a lot less to be treated so poorly. Will not use Beach Realty again.

July 4th Stay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our 1st vacation of this nature in the OBX. We were very happy with our home and its location. The overall condition of the home was good and we enjoyed the property as a whole. The pool was great , we did have a small issue with the volleyball court. There is a slab of concrete in the middle of the court that is dangerous for future guests. We had one of the members of our party hurt their ribs when the dove for a ball in the sand. not serious, but for future guests, it should be removed.

The pool guy came during the week to service the pool and hot tub which was nice, considering it had some sand in it. It was a great location to the beach and town.

Wish I could say 5 stars

I would have loved to give this house a great rating, unfortunately the house needs to be power washed and repairs made to the outside. It is a beautiful home with plenty of room for our 17 family members but the dead bugs and droppings in door jams and on windows and siding, the terrible condition of the swing set, broken boards on the decks and various plies of junk make an excellent rating impossible. I will say the rental company responded to our various requests very quickly. When we arrived the beds had been made with dirty linens and house hadn’t been cleaned but they sent Becky to clean and she did an excellent job. We ended up having a wonderful vacation despite the rough start.

Two ground floor doors with broken locks, two of three gates to pool with broken locks, no large serving pieces , broken chair propped up, cable box in twin room broken. Good response from Beach for fixing locks. Not much else. To many discrepancies!!
