Fisherman’s retreat in Turangi

The best destination after a long road trip, walk in and relax with everything you’ll need to enjoy your stay. Short stroll to the river and you can be fishing for your dinner in no time. Hidden down a back section you will enjoy the peace and quiet of this awesome home.
The house has 3 bedrooms suitable for up to 5 people or 6 at a stretch.
Master bedroom has a king sized bed, second bedroom has a double and lastly there are two single beds in the 3rd bedroom. Turn the heat pump on to 18 degrees for your stay and it will keep the house at the perfect temperature. There is a fireplace in the lounge if you want to create a different atmosphere. Kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher and all the kitchenware you’ll need to cook your Sunday roast. Bathroom is brand new with heating and a walk in shower. Outside you can enjoy the large deck space and listen to the bird life while you fire up the bbq. There’s even a tree house for the kids to explore but keep the door closed or it will become a house for the local wildlife. Outdoor filleting station and smoker is available plus hooks to hang your wet waders. This is the best home in the area specifically set up for long weekends away. You’ll love your time in our little piece of paradise.

We had a wonderful time in Turangi and the bach was lovely. Check in was easy and communication was good. The bach was very comfortable, well located for walks and we enjoyed seeing the Whiro on the river.

“We absolutely loved our stay! Lydia was fantastic, always quick to respond to any questions, whether by phone or email. We visited for four days in late September, and although the weather was still crisp, coming back to relax by the open fire after hiking in Tongariro National Park was pure bliss. My adult son especially enjoyed the location for fly fishing, and walking along the river was so peaceful. If we travel through the North Island again, we’ll definitely be back for a few more nights. Thank you, Lydia, your accommodation gave us the perfect space to unwind and reconnect.”

My adult son and I loved the house. It was comfortable with all the amenities and could easily accommodate a much larger group. A great base for exploring the area.

Beautiful!

Quaint family home in a great location next to the river. Beautiful garden views out every window and a lovely fire place. The kids enjoyed playing in the tree house and on tree swing. Immaculately kept inside and out. Our family thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property.

Get Away Properly

Was one of the most amazing stays we've ever had anywhere. This place was the getaway we needed. Amazingly comfortable home, well apportioned and had almost everything we could need. It was so close to everything we wanted to be close to and the one time I had a question the owner responded almost instantly. Will be back. Hopefully many many times.

Fisherman’s retreat

Superb house for myself and 2 mates, planned on fishing but the wind and rain mostly stopped that. Nice warm fire, lots of firewood, with a backup of the heat pump for early mornings. Great location across the road from the river

Warm, cozy & great location

We loved our stay at the Fisherman's Retreat, the house has a big fireplace and heat pump and made the house so warm and cozy. The location is fantastic for fishing, just over the road and you're on the river. Lydia was a fantastic host, quick to respond and we were lucky to be the first guests at the house. We will definitely be coming back and are looking forward to spending some time here in summer as the deck and gardens are beautiful and are made for summer BBQ's.

Fishing weekend celebration

A fabulous stay at Fisherman's Retreat for my partner's birthday celebration. Couldn't have wished for a better location, so close to the river! My partner fished every day & thoroughly enjoyed it. House was warm & cosy & had everything you need, great we could take our border collie too. We will definitely be back!

Nice house with cleanliness deficiencies

Nice spacious house in a quiet neighborhood. Big and beautiful garden. Beds are comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Fresh linen.Overall cleanliness was not good. Front entrance and decks were full of leaves at arrival. Kitchen floor and stove knobs sticky. Kitchen cabinet and fridge filled with a lot of food. All already expired. Used underwear in bedroom cabinet. BBQ dirty with no .cleaning equipment available.Very strange that there are no garbage bins outside. All garbage must be brought to the local refuse station.
