Had a lovely stay at Don’s home. It was very clean and I was excited to see a full kitchen, along with a Bosch microwave that was very easy to use. The check-in process was easy, and Don was available if I needed anything. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We were happy with this well kept unit and the landscaping and pool were very nice. Location for us was good as it was only 4 blocks from sons home. It’s definitely not walking distance to town. Only meet owner once to get 2 new bath towels after four days, but he was pleasant. All in all we would stay again. Only negative was having to park all the way over next to a stone wall and back onto street with owners car about 12 inches on the left and stone wall 6 inches to our right. At night a little hairy but we did it.

Perfect stay!

Super clean, just the right size for two people! Gorgeous patio and view of the hills. Easy access to downtown Lafayette and 24, but far enough away to be quiet and secure. Would happily stay again!

Beautiful setting

Everything was clean and nicely set up. Beautiful yards. Plenty of privacy. Coffee maker acted up, had a new one same day. Great host.

Charming

The apartment was comfortable and so cute, with all the upgrades. The yard was beautiful and the host friendly. We will stay here again next time we are in Lafayette.

A Slice of Paradise

Our best VRBO experience by far! Host was very responsive, unit was well stocked to meet any needs, neighborhood and the backyard in particular with squirrels and birds and gardens provided a restful, tranquil setting for enjoyment and relaxation, including a pool. Would love to stay there again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Coz;y and Convenient

This studio apartment is in a lovely, safe neighborhood of single-family homes about two and a half miles from downtown Lafayette. Located on the lower level of the primary residence, it is suitable as a quiet hotel alternative. Designated off-street guest parking is on the home's side where outdoor stairs lead to the rental's private entrance in the backyard. The host, Don, is very accommodating and obviously takes pride in his property. We chose to introduce ourselves to express our thanks but were otherwise afforded our privacy. The kitchen is well-stocked, and the furnishings are attractive and comfortable throughout. We were very happy with our stay while visiting family nearby.

Peaceful home away from home

this is our second time at Donald's place. It is a perfect location for us when we visit family. Lovely area for walks and a short drive away from great restaurants and shopping options in downtown Lafayette. The place is very comfortable, about the only complaint I have is the lack of heat in the bedroom, especially felt this year because of the unusually long and wet winter.

Second stay

This was my second stay in this charming apartment. It really has everything you need and is in a great location. Didn't see the owners at all this time as it's very private but in my previous experience, they're very responsive. The fireplace is one of my favorite things about the apartment. I would turn it on every morning as soon as I was up and again every evening. In the summer, I imagine the pool would be every bit as nice.

Perfect!

I was in the area visiting family and this was a perfect home base. It was December and I loved having the fireplace. The kitchen was well equipped and it was very quiet and private. I also loved having the washer and dryer right there. It was like having a home away from home. I'm already booked to go back in a few months and can't wait to use the outdoor fireplace when the weather's a little nicer.

Quiet peaceful stay.

Don is a great host, very attentive but left us alone. The property is in a quiet neighborhood of Lafayette. You will need a car. Wonderful place for going on walks.

lovely quiet apartment in Lafayette

This is a nice and peaceful spot, in a residential neighborhood and on a quiet street just a few mles from downtown. My husband and I have stayed two times over the last year, while visiting our children in Lafayette town center. It is a very quick drive (5 -7 mins.) to the heart of town. The unit is on the bottom level of the house and has immediate access to the patio, swimming pool and deck, which are particular pluses to this location. It is very private and it's pleasant to sit outside under the tall trees and hear the birds. The kitchen is well equipped and the living room and bedrooms are comfortable. There's a gas fireplace which heats up the main room quickly on a cold morning. The bathroom is small, but the amazingly strong water pressure in the shower makes up for that! The host is very responsive.

Rare Bay Area find with a pool

Our experience was mixed - biggest disappointment not meeting owner who lives upstairs. He returned home our last few days but didn’t stop by. Overall, good stay. Don allowed our 9-year-old grandson to join us even though only a one-bedroom basement apartment. We had our Q air mattress in LR, grandson in bdrm; worked great. The pool, very affordable rate and easy 20 minute drive to daughter in Alameda are reasons we chose here. Don was patient as we had three tries before a reservation worked out. I am taking time to share more below since we think this has potential to be a 5-star place, plus I am frustrated by the number of travelers who just breeze through their reviews - a disservice to owners and guests. Pros: - great kitchen w/high-end full-size appliances, granite countertop, sharp knives, cooking utensils, glassware, dishes, cookware, dining table. (Add tongs, whisk please) - Gas fireplace: super touch, operates on wall switch, heats K/LR/bath; HVAC ceiling units in LR/Bdrm at night only - Off-street parking; motion lights take you down the stairway; solid door lock - Beautiful pool, huge deck, outdoor gas fireplace (shared with owner) - Bath shower amazing, granite counter - Sunny exposure, many windows; trees, birds, lush landscaping Cons: - Communication gap among owner, plumbers and us; no hot water first night; no water at all next day caused by major bath reno upstairs; plumbers unaware of our existence; water had to be shut off at main. (We were compensated.) - Cleanliness/maintenance needs improvement. Inside: moldy coffeepot grounds, dirty window shades & sills, some broken slats, no broom/dust pan/stick vac, blue tape in/around ceiling can lights. Outside: pool cover dirty w/puddle of stale water, no cushions on rusty metal deck chairs, no instructions for gas fireplace or retractable pool cover (which was suddenly closed on our last, sunniest day requiring calls to find owner yet again to get directions to open it); final motion light above front door not working; retractable door screen broken. - Lack of written instructions. Only had photo of labelled TV/HVAC remotes, and laminated wifi password. Need for W/D, pool cover, two HVAC units and controls, trash disposal (need more outside containers, issue with no pickup before or during stay). Summary: Don warned us pool is not heated, but he removed cover hoping that sun would help. Our grandson tolerates cold water well so had a great time!

Great Lafayette Studio

Nice and quiet for a family member as she was studying and taking finals. Nice little kitchen area and safe neighborhood. A bit of noise from above as it’s a downstairs unit, but all in all a very pleasant place to stay. Highly recommend. Owners are very responsive and nice.

House Hunting

We needed housing for 30 days while we searched for a home to purchase in Walnut Creek area. This vacation rental served our purpose. We had all the basics we needed for a 30 day stay. Plus, we had access to a pool and a fireplace. Don was extremely responsive to all of our questions and needs. Would definitely recommend this vacation rental to anyone seeking a comfy place to stay for a week or even a month. Pat and Charlie

This is my home. I hardly ever used the lower portion so I have had it professionally converted. It is a wonderful place to stay if you like quiet, a valley view and quick access to San Francisco.

Lots of natural light, tranquil views, large patio area for sitting out side, jump in the pool to cool off in the summer or sit in front of the outdoor gas fireplace.
