Oceanfront 3BR luxury villa in Los Delfines Golf Club in peaceful Playa Tambor
Welcome to Ballena Bay! (Whale Bay)
The perfect combination of a relaxing atmosphere with plenty of adventures nearby. Enjoy the ocean sound and breeze while kicking back on the terrace complete with lounge chairs, sectional sofa, hanging chair and hammock all just steps away from the shared pool (with 8 villas) and private neighborhood beach! This villa has a fully equipped kitchen including large refrigerator with ice maker, convection cooktop, WiFi oven, dual zone wine chiller in bar area and best of all reverse osmosis water for drinking and ice. Whole house water softener as well. Full size washer/dryer with detergent is included. All beds have cushioned mattress pads and all sheets and towels are Brooklinen organic cotton or Cariloha bamboo cotton. AC in every room as well as ceiling fans. This is a free standing villa in a gated golf community with 24 hr security guards. Very safe, family friendly, beautiful landscaping with scarlet macaws, deer and howler monkeys as neighbors! It even has its own grocery store in the neighborhood. The beach bar is next door to the villas and offers karaoke on Thurs and Saturdays as well as beach volleyball on Sundays. You can even catch a Pilates or yoga class there in the mornings during season. During season (Dec-April) we have beach front weekly entertainment including music and movie nights. During the summer months you can help the Tambor BayTortuga Club patrol the beach at night for sea turtles laying eggs and locating their nests. All year long you can enjoy hiking nearby at the national parks Cabo Blanco and Curu, rock jumping at the Montezuma waterfalls, horseback riding on the beach out front, and boating excursions will pick you up on the beach for Tortuga Island, fishing, snorkeling and whale watching. So much to do! Nearby towns to explore are the laid back hippie town of Montezuma and the surfer town Santa Teresa with the best restaurants on the peninsula! Both are less than 1hr away. If you are looking for organic foods to prepare yourself there is a large organic food market at the marina 20mins away on Saturdays year round. My hope is that you will find this place as magical and fun as I do and make it your home away from home.

Hello, I’m a hospital pharmacist from Indiana. My mother is from Costa Rica and I spent many summers in high school visiting this beloved country while staying with close family friends. I finally bought my own place with hopes to winter here in my upcoming retirement. I renovated this villa with comfort in mind. Everything is new in this villa: furniture, appliances, flooring, windows, paint, terrace, balcony, mattresses, linens and towels. It is equipped with non toxic in mind; including reverse osmosis, organic linens and essential oil body soap in the showers. I truly created my dream home and I’m excited to share it with you!
Por qué escogió este alojamiento
I chose this area for many reasons. It is where the dry forest meets the wet forest so it stays green during the dry season (Nov-April) yet it isn’t as humid as the wet/rainforest. The road is a nicely paved road all the way from the airport to my villa :). The howler monkeys, scarlet macaws and sea turtles are my neighbors. And the Nicoya Peninsula is a Blue Zone! One of 5 areas in the world where they have the highest percent of people living to be 100.

My neighborhood is very unique in that it is oceanfront, not ocean view. Only 5% of oceanfront property is titled beachfront. The government owns the rest and they do a fantastic job keeping it as natural as possible. It is very rare to find a home in Costa Rica that you can walk out your door and just a few steps away is the beach. Most homes are built in the mountains above the beach. I also love having the beach bar Rancho right next door. It’s a ritual of mine to walk over there after I arrive for a bite to eat and a coconut lime margarita 😋. The neighborhood has a beautiful golf course, tennis and pickleball courts and an Olympic size swimming pool at the Club House. Everyone is friendly and active. It’s a great place to chill after a full day of adventure.
