Welcome to the Cool Change Beach Cottage, Canal front 4x4 area of Carova Beach.

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Located in the 4x4 area of Carova Beach, our home is sure to offer the perfect "Cool Change" for your next vacation. Situated on the canal, it offers plenty of water activities or a walk to the beach. Our home is located in the 4x4 area of the beach; a four-wheel drive vehicle is required. The Carova Beach Boat ramp and park are within walking distance, and our home is a popular spot for the wild horses to roam.
The space
Bedroom 1 -The Master bedroom has a queen-size bed and private bathroom.

Bedroom 2 - Queen-size bed.

Bedroom 3- Two twin beds with trundles.

2nd bathroom is in the hallway for guests in bedrooms 2 & 3.
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire house.
Other things to note
Carova Beach is located in a remote area of the Outerbanks. Before arriving at our home, it is suggested that you bring your groceries and purchase gas. A grocery store, gas, shopping, and restaurants are about 20 minutes away in Corolla.

Excellent location, beautiful home, attentive host, dog friendly. Layout of home was perfect for fun and relaxation. Rental met all our needs. Got to see wild horses near and on the propery several times during our stay.
Wildlife in the canal. We could see them from the back deck.
Gorgeous sunset views.
So wonderful to see the horses.
Drive home from the rental. Beautiful beach!

This house is just as pictured! Beautifully maintained and has all the extras you could possibly need for an incredible beach trip! There were enough kayaks for our family of 5 to go out for the day too. We loved seeing the horses visit daily. The screened in deck was great for morning coffee and watching the horses. The downstairs deck is perfect for enjoying meals and hanging out after a day at the beach. We really enjoyed our stay at this house!!

A Wonderful Experience

My husband, son, his wife, and granddaughter stayed at the house 7/5 till 7/12/25. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed to for our stay, and more. The house was located close enough to the beach that we could walk if not taking a load with us. Or could drive if we wanted to load up the beach chairs, cooler, and toys. As advertised, there was a small herd of horses that visited our yard at one time or another almost every day. If not, we saw horses on our walks or drives on the beach. Spent a lot of time on the back deck watching the wildlife on the canal. Fire and rescue close by sold tee shirts and ice if needed. This was our first visit to the Outer Banks, and would like to visit again in the future. Would definitely stay in this house again if available. Driving on the beach was quite an adjustment for us, but we were pros by the time we left for home! We even tried the kayaks one day, and very enjoyable.

Beautiful home

I always travel with my two dogs. The host had dog water bowls full when we arrived. I’ve never had a host go to that length. The kitchen was well equipped! We have nothing negative about this host or home!

Cool Change was Perfect During an Unexpected Heat Wave

Cool Change was an air conditioned oasis during an unusually hot week in June with every amenity you could want or need, including a water cooler and perfectly scented Ocean Breeze body wash. We still were able to enjoy the back and front porches (the latter of which managed to be cool every afternoon) and dinner on the deck underneath the house. The kayaks and stand up paddleboard made our week even more fun and we had daily horse sightings in the yard and canal, including under the house once. We already are looking forward to returning next June!

Wonderful house

Everything was perfect in the house! So many extra amenities made it even better. The house was clean and well organized and equipped for me and my daughter and son in law and the 3 kids. We had a beautiful vacation

Picture Perfect

Can’t say enough positives about our stay at Cool Change. House is perfect location on the canal… beautiful sunsets every night. Short walk or drive to the beach. The house has everything you could possibly want or need. The screened in porch is perfect to share meals or just enjoy the tranquility of the canal. So many cute touches throughout the house from furnishings to decorations.Working with Amber was easy and she was super attentive. No one in our group had any complaints. Perfect vacation with family in a perfect location. We will definitely be back to Cool Change again soon.
