Villa Amor Azul, Playa Ocotal - Walk to the Beach, Infinity Pool, Forever Views
Villa Amor Azul is a 7 bedroom, 7 bath private luxury home in exclusive Playa Ocotal, Guanacaste Costa Rica. Perched cliffside, just above the resort and the gorgeous black sand beach at Bahia Pez Vela, this home offers sweeping panoramic mountain and ocean views along with the sounds of crashing waves. It is unique property that can offer both stunning views and a short walk to the beach.
Our infinity pool seems to stretch out over the Bay of Papagayo all the way to Santa Rosa National Park. To the north, look across the blue waters of Culebra Bay and the towering Volcanos on the horizon. In any direction, the views are spectacular.
The home offers multiple entertainment and dining spaces both indoors and out as well as more-intimate balconies for private getaways.
The 5 bedrooms in the main home have air conditioning and ceiling fans. With the exception of the bunk room, all have ensuite bathrooms.
The separate, private but easily accessible Casita Amor Azul has 2 bedrooms (1 queen and 1 small bunk room), kitchen, living room, bathroom and a private deck with a cocktail pool. It enjoys the same spectacular views as the Villa.
Nature abounds at and around Villa Amor Azul. During a typical stay, guests will see reptiles, parrots, probably howler monkeys in our trees, and with some luck, dolphins or whales in the bay.
It’s hard to leave Villa Amor Azul. The amenities, its privacy, the views, a gourmet kitchen and the howler monkeys are all good reasons to stay home.
And there are great reasons to stay in the neighborhood. A 12-minute walk to our quiet black sand beach and the delicacies at Soluna Bistro at the Bahia Pez Vela Resort are just down the hill. For mellow beach bar vibes and live music, Father Rooster is only a 5 minute drive or about a 20 minute walk.
Just a short drive from the Villa, you’ll find dozens of incredible beaches, shopping, restaurants and activities to fill your days and nights. Playa Hermosa and Playas del Coco are within 15-20 minutes.

On the main floor...
We have a large master bedroom with king bed, futon for extra sleepers and ensuite bathroom. It has views of the pool, our garden and the ocean.
Across the hall we have a bunkbed room that sleeps 4 and a shared full bath.
Our fully equipped kitchen has seating for everyone and opens to a dining terrace with seating for 12.
Our living room has a large smart television with cable and HDMI ports for setting up your own streaming or gaming devices.
On the 2nd floor...
3 bedrooms and an office/living area
The master has a king bed, ensuite bathroom and a very large private terrace with room for entertaining, stargazing or sunbathing. The views from the bedroom and the outdoor space are amazing.
The Courtyard view Queen BR has an ensuite bath and private terrace. Views are of the courtyard and Ocotal hillside.
The Pool & Ocean view Queen BR has an ensuite bathroom and private terrace overlooking our garden, our palms, the estates on the hills around Ocotal, the pool and the ocean.
We have a small open office space on the 2nd floor with a futon that can sleep 2.
Our 2 bedroom, 1 bath Casita Amor Azul sits above the main house and is connected by staircase. The casita offers separation and privacy but still very much a part of the main property. Just remodeled, it now offers a private deck with stunning ocean views and its own cocktail pool, outdoor bar seating, outdoor shower. Kitchen, 1 Queen, 2 bunks, Living Room, Dining Nook. Wifi. Secure parking. Air conditioning.
Villa Outside Space:
Infinity pool, multiple covered terraces, fire table, outdoor shower, outdoor bathroom. Lots of seating for get togethers but areas for getting a little private time as well.

We love Ocotal because of its breathtaking views of Bahia Papagayo, of it's proximity to the airport (only ~35 mins), the fact that we can walk to the beach - or drive to 10 others within a half hour.
Ocotal is relatively private and quiet and home to a couple of great restaurants: Soluna and Father Rooster. We have all the amenities we need in nearby Coco (10 mins) and the big city of Liberia (45 minutes).
Adventures of every kind are drivable - or boat-able! Typically, you can meet your boat in Ocotal Bay for cruising, fishing, diving or commuting to other areas of coastal Guanacaste.
There's a great blend of people and cultures here. Americans, Canadians, Europeans, South Americans and many permanent or semi-permanent ex-pats, but it's still, and very thankfully, mostly Tico families.
Ocotal is relatively private and quiet and home to a couple of great restaurants: Soluna and Father Rooster. We have all the amenities we need in nearby Coco (10 mins) and the big city of Liberia (45 minutes).

We are so privileged to have an incredible diversity of wildlife at Villa Amor Azul. Birds, reptiles and mammals (including monkeys) are always around - just keep your eyes and ears open, your camera at the ready and be respectful of our visitors.
On a lucky day, we'll see dolphins and whales in the bay.
