Acerca de este alojamiento
Amazing Courtyard! Perfect 5br near Frenchmen
Summary:
This is the perfect spot to hang your hat while visiting nola. A fantastic 5 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom property perfect for large groups! For starters, it’s walking distance to Frenchmen St., and just a quick ride to Bourbon St., and the French Quarter, but off the beaten path and quiet at night. It’s also just next to the St. Roch Market, making it super convenient to pick up anything you need. While you’ll love the history of the home, you’ll love the modern amenities even more. Amazing Courtyard.
The Space:
The house is nicknamed the "Roch Lobster"
AMAZING NEW STONE COURTYARD INSTALLED IN SUMMER 2022- YOU WILL LOVE IT!!! Slate courtyard with a fountain, the perfect gathering spot to start or end a night on the town.
This cool and eclectic house will capture your heart and your imagination from the moment you enter!
While totally remodeled, it has retained its charm of yesteryear with period touches, like a brick fireplace (non-functional) in the living room and brick accents in the bedrooms. Music fans will particularly love the old-fashioned console turntable in the dining room. If you’re really into nostalgia, there’s even a video game to have you strolling down memory lane.
Gather the group around the living room HDTV to stream a movie or maybe a few episodes of the latest bingeable show. Sink into the comfy sofas with a glass of your favorite beverage and maybe even a tray of some yummy snacks.
Nothing old-fashioned about this kitchen! It’s been completely remodeled with stainless steel appliances and plenty of cabinets for all your goodies and groceries. Share your meals in the dedicated dining room or if you prefer, there’s plenty of space out on the patio with the charcoal grill.
What a great, private spot to enjoy an afternoon beer or glass of wine as you’re waiting for the grill master to serve up your hamburgers, veggie burgers, or steaks. The mural of the home’s namesake (the Roch Lobster) is totally Instagrammable!
There will be no fighting over bedrooms at the Roch Lobster! Each of the five bedrooms offers a queen size bed, while 3 full and 1 half baths are shared. And just because we thought the second story of every home needs one, there’s a suit of armor in the hallway between the bedrooms. Think of him as a security guard.
Please note that two of the bedrooms are “shotgun-style”. This is a typical New Orleans style of architecture, in which you have to walk through each bedroom to get to the next.
Our home is close to:
St Roch Market Food Hall (next door)
St Roch Tavern (across the street)
New Orleans Food Co Op Grocery (1 block)
Hi Ho Lounge (two blocks)
Robert's Grocery (Four blocks)
Frenchmen Street
Bourbon Street
The French Quarter

The Neighborhood:
The Faubourg Marigny, commonly just Marigny, is a hip neighborhood just "below" (down river from) the French Quarter. Best known for the great live music district on Frenchmen Street, the Marigny also offers neighborhood cafes & businesses, historic architecture, and more. It has the air of what the French Quarter was in it's golden days. It has a few small hotels, and many bed-and-breakfasts, as well as a number of good restaurants, coffee shops, and music venues. Architecturally, the Marigny is known for its many styles of Creole cottages, most of which date to the 19th century. Its "heart" is Washington Square Park (bounded by Frenchmen Street, Royal Street, Dauphine Street, and Elysian Fields Avenue). Frenchmen Street is the main nightlife district, with half a dozen live music clubs and just as many restaurants in four short blocks. At Mardi Gras, the Marigny is one of the city's hidden hot spots. Very popular with locals, who enjoy partying in the streets without the busy atmosphere of Bourbon Street. Crowds gather at the corner of Royal and Kerlerec (outside of R-Bar Inn) as well as at the intersection of Royal and Franklin. Elaborate costumes are the order of the day, along with brass bands and many drummers. Two weeks before Mardi Gras, the Marigny is also the starting place for the Krewe du Vieux, a satirical, raunchy parade in 19th-century Carnival style! Complete with small floats drawn by krewe members and mules. Local cafes, restaurants and music venues line Frenchmen Street. Known for its bohemian atmosphere, the Marigny is home to many artists and musicians, as well as a sizable gay and lesbian population. Among its notable residents are chef Paul Prudhomme, painter James Michalopoulas, and actors Harry Shearer and Jennifer Coolidge, who can be seen around town when they're not working in L.A. Local writers include New Orleans mystery writers, Julie Smith and J.M. Redmann, as well as Andrei Codrescu, Michael Swindle, and Kevin Allman. Frenchmen Street is in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood just below the lower edge of the Quarter. A 4 block stretch of bars, restaurants, and coffee shops mixed with live music venues make it one of the city's most hip places, catering more to locals than tourists (though tourists are certainly welcome, and welcomed). On any given night, one might find modern jazz, swinging traditional jazz, Latin American style music, rockabilly, and more within this small area.
