Run down, but still ideal for the price

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The place was ideal because it's on the beach, it has a pool, it is 3 bedroom/3 bathroom, and it isn't as expensive as others with those specs. So I'd definitely stay there again. That being said, it did smell bad, the exterior of the fridge was gross, there were dying cockroaches in the bathroom when we arrived, and the pillows were old and dirty looking with pillow cases that didn't fully cover them (yuck!). Also, communication about the stay was too impersonal to be accommodating. For example, you were told that check in was at 4pm, but that you'd receive a text if it was ready earlier. But you got no heads up about the chances that it would be ready earlier. So if you were driving, you either had to risk being in Port Aransas several hours before you had anywhere to go, or you had to get a text saying it was ready when you were still hours away! I would have loved to have known there was a chance, even if it wasn't a guarantee, that it would be available earlier.

We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Caribbean. This place has a lot going for it. It’s spacious, lots of storage space, large kitchen, fairly new carpets and furnishings and bathrooms with modern fixtures. All appliances and the air conditioning worked well. The large porch offered a view of the ocean and beach from the top floor that was great and the access to the beach is very easy with the boardwalks over the dunes.We had a couple complaints though. One complaint was in the bedroom with the twin beds. While the beds in the master bedroom and the bedroom with the queen bed were quite comfortable, we felt both mattresses on the twin beds in the other bedroom needed to be replaced. One of the beds was merely uncomfortable, the other bed was too uncomfortable to sleep in. Fortunately, our party was small enough that we didn’t need to use that bed. The mattresses on both beds were not at all firm and had collapsed in the middle of the mattress.Another complaint. The porch was a great place to spend time to view the sunrise in the morning and to relax and enjoy the ocean breezes in the evening. But the hard straight-backed chairs on the porch were uncomfortable enough to diminish somewhat the enjoyment this nice porch has to offer. Some cushions would have greatly increased the pleasure of relaxing on the porch.As we said earlier, this place has a lot going for it. These complaints could be easily corrected, and would make the experience there even more enjoyable

Pros: Excellent check in & check out procedures. Beautiful views of the water. Great walkway for beach access. Lots of space in the condo. Nice pool. Cons: A/C was leaking into the carpet upon check in. This issue was fixed very quickly. Refrigerator did not cool well; there’s a note on the door instructing visitors to limit the number of drinks you put inside. Several door handles and latches did not function properly. Overall a nice stay for a 24 year old property.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I will first state that we've stayed at this property in the past and had a wonderful experience. The property itself is walking distance to the beach, has a nice pool, great views of the ocean, and is close to town but far enough away from crowds.We decided to upgrade from our normal 2 bedroom stay to a 3 bedroom. This was the only 3 bedroom available when we booked, and with minimal photos and reviews, we took a chance and booked this condo. In my opinion, this condo is not ready for guests, especially given the price. It's very outdated, minimally decorated, and has glaring issues including a rusty refrigerator with a note stating it can't cool more than 10 drinks at a time, a leaking guest toilet, noticeably worn and old carpeting, and incredibly scratched and warped cookware, to say the least. There are no curtains in the guest bedrooms, so it difficult for our young children to nap during the day. The living room furniture is uncomfortable but the beds were decent. If you're looking for a nice family vacation I would avoid this condo and book something else on the property. This condo needs to be greatly discounted or majorly upgraded.

We’ve been coming to Grand Carribean for 6 years. The units are amazing, super spacious, and the views, especially from this unit are gorgeous.

NOT worth the money. Poorly managed short term rental property.

It reminded me of a young man’s first college apartment. The location away from the main part of town was the only plus to me. You can’t see the beach for the dunes though. Furniture and decorations were cheap and random af with no rhyme or reason. Curtains didn’t fit. A HUGE poisonous scorpion was on the living room floor. One about 4” was in the pool. There was a security guard that was annoyingly petty watching every move every person made and nitpicking all the guest. An older lady did the same with the pool gate and water hose for rinsing feet. The construction looked like the home owner did it with receptacles caved in, rusty nails, door jams missing plugs like it was never finished. The kitchen had bare minimum supplies and dishes cracked. I prefer staying in homes the owner takes pride in not just an investment property poorly furnished and maintained.

Hope for improvement

The details that make a condo so desirable that I book it often are missing here. Cooking utensils were old, worn and odd. No cooking supplies like olive oil, sugar, just basics were there. I don’t want to bring my pantry on vacation. Shower drained poorly. Twin beds and living room furniture were worn out. No dish washer detergent. The managing company said they had just received the offer it in their care and will be working with the owners to get it made more usable. I don’t plan to stay on here again. The house it below it 3001 is a great place to stay.

Loved our stay here.

The location was great. We loved it. There was a slight smell to the place which we assumed was because it’s so close to the ocean. The dishes were not as clean as we would have liked but just washed those ourselves. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay!

Spring break

Love the location of the unit, right on the beach with a nice pool. But the apartment itself is not stocked very well, not enough pillows, blankets or kitchen supplies.
