We showed up 30 minutes before check in. Told the owner 2 hours ahead of time that we would be there at that time and no response. We didn’t think 30 minutes was a big deal. When we walked in there was a horrible smell and the house had not been cleaned since the last residents. Beds were not made and no clean sheets. The bathrooms was gross with hair in tub and sink. Dirty towels hanging. It was disgusting. I contacted the owner and told him about the condition of the house and how we couldn’t stay there. I asked for a refund. He said since we showed up 30 minutes before check in that he didn’t have to refund me. There is no way that house was going to be cleaned in 30 minutes. We sat in the driveway trying to find another place to stay and booked a hotel at premium price since its parents weekend at my son’s college. When we left it was 15 minutes before check in and no cleaning people showing up. It would have looked like that even if we came at check in. It just upsets me that the owner wouldn’t refund us. He could have done the right thing but chose to be a jerk. Now I’m taking it up with VRBO. Do not stay here or any of the properties this person has to offer.
