Thank you for your recommendations, I’ll be sure to inspect the quality of the soft furnishings and replace them where necessary. The property gets a professional deep clean at least once a season, and an independent cleaning crew goes through and services the cottage very thoroughly between every rental. This is a historic, wood cottage that by definition has nooks and crannies that don’t “shine up” like some other recently-refurbished rental properties. As you know, it is also dog-friendly, which means that the occasional throw-pillow might not always appear as pristine as it would in a more clinical setting, but I strive to improve. I’m so sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction. The house is professionally cleaned by a team of four between each rental. Since it is a historic property with many original features and touches it may appear more rustic and less shiny than other renovated or new rentals, but most guests do appreciate the “old Key West” charm that is clearly reflected in the photos. Most of the overhead lights in the house have dimmer controls next to the switches - it is possible that you didn’t realize and so thought it dark. The property description does point out that the second / loft bedroom isn’t recommended for extended stays, but has proven more than adequate for previous guests’ occasional weekend visitors. There is a dining table with four chairs, as depicted clearly in the property photos.

I am saddened to know how unpleasant you considered your experience to be, and I hope that the significant discounts and refunds I issued helped to cushion that. I have addressed and resolved every issue you brought up that was within my control, and I appreciate you bringing a couple of things to my attention that might otherwise have gone unnoticed since previous guests had never mentioned them. Regarding the lack of a dresser - the 8ft walk-in closet with shelves in the Main guest room and the dressers and clothing rail in the loft bedroom do seem adequate for monthly guests. I spoke with the Professional Cleaning Service I have been using for many years, and they assured me that they will take extra care to ensure our standards are met. Though we are in the Tropics and bugs are a fact of life, I do have a monthly Pest Control service, and between them and the Cleaning Service, insects in drawers are obviously unacceptable. I strive to provide a cozy, authentic Key West experience with this historic rental property, and it’s unfortunate all around that it wasn’t a good fit for your expectations. Thank you again for your critique, hopefully it has helped improve the guest experience.
